Everything you’ve suggested is so helpful! The only thing I kind of disagree with, is about the content being not good. I got depressed initially thinking my content was not good (which yes I’ve got plenty that could be a lot better), but i think it’s more about the algorithm and not something you can necessarily control. I’ve done random tests, where I post the same content on multiple platforms, and it goes over wildly well on 2 other platforms meanwhile instagram it didn’t hit the right people. But I’ve also experimented and re-posted old content that did poorly and the second time posted (even using the same hashtags it had a 100% better reach than before. I found it really was the time of day it was posted and for a reel (the audio you use, such as a trending audio helps way more than one that isn’t. Anyway this is just what I’ve noticed from using instagram 🤷‍♀️. I don’t know wether you’ve made a video about posting at certain times of day, but if you haven’t yet it would be a great video :)

Hi John! Matthew from Slay.so here. I think at the root of good content is a genuine understanding of your audience. This is easier the more defined your niche becomes. For example, it's hard to make content that resonates if your target audience is simply 'business owners'. But it can be easier if your audience is small business owners in New York. Even easier if your target audience is solopreneur female business owners who are 30-40 years old and are balancing their their budding digital coaching business while raising two young children in New York. Now, that may seem absurdly specific, but you may be able to get that specific depending on your niche, with enough research. I highly recommend interviewing or surveying people who fall within the target audience space for your content to find out what makes them tick. What goals do they have this year? What knowledge do they lack? What are they afraid of and what stories do they tell themselves? What does their day to day look like? The more in-depth you can answer these questions - and find patterns - the better your content can become. Good content will relate to your audience and make them feel understood while at the same time bringing them immediate value - either entertainment, inspiration, or education which they can implement to better their lives right away.
