Your passion for fishing is incredible. I have carved a few baits out of 2"×4" wood which isn't the best wood I suppose but, if you put a wider lip on it. You will get more action side to side. Awesome video!

Megabass Diving Flap Slap rocks when you pause it. Caught an 8.3 largemouth and a 10 lb catfish on back to back casts. Both casts I cranked it a couple of feet and stopped. It shimmied and they crushed it. Was quite a blast on 10 lb test.

Nice video. Heres a little improvement idea, I think your style of bait might benefit from a oval or V shaped cross section more. Also if you used a wood type thats not so boyant like maple or birch you will not have to add so much lead to make it sink. Adding more mass and distributing along the belly usually like you did results in a not so awesome action on a crankbait, however if your able to add most of the mass of the lead weight to a smaller concentrated area your going to have much better side to side wobble when the bait is not fighting a mass thats distributed along the lenght of the bait, thats why the action on your lure on a straight retrieve is kind of sluggish. that being said a "sluggish flegmatic wet sock" action might be the ticket when the waters cool down more and fish start to go on a energy saving mode and start to move like your granny .
