Jim, have you investigated the John Adams mill at Cutler, Indiana? My Great-great grandmother was raised by John's descendants at the mill. The mill is not in operation, but a very great history of Carroll County is there. A post Office once was housed there. Milling and other operations happened. I would love to see your video of this mill. Thank you!

If you could get me some contact information for the current caretaker or owner of the mill, we will try to get something scheduled. Millin360@hotmail.com

Fragmented millstones probably became about when the quarry's seam depleted of complete rounds. Metal banding permitted broken millstones during manufacturing or scrap piles to be salvaged. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5TXioiklrelbrs A Fitz Waterwheel Co welded factsimily (not riveted) overshot wheel takes 2 filled buckets of water (about 80 gallon) to start the 15-20 revolutions per minute. It originally used a 24 inch octagonal wooden shaft with a 12 foot diameter wood wheel mounted with wood spokes (cast master bevel gear has 24" octagon opening).

I do not believe the sawmill is genuine to the 1837 sawmill

You are correct. That is a reproduction of the sawmill that sat closer to the original gristmill, neither one still exist.
