THANK YOU so much for capturing and sharing this journey. I've been planning on doing the same to my mid-70's Wells-Index 847 mill. i'm sure i'll watch these many many times before it's all said and done! Can you give us a rough idea of the total time spent?

Thinking about building a new head for my 645 and scrapping in the rest hard for me to justify it until I remedy the issues in the head as it’s basically wore out in every aspect from the gears to the bearings

You some very expensive measuring equipment for as you call yourself a novice with power scraper and granite worth big $$ and throw in a couple of camel backs, more than some professional work places all for a novice.

Very interesting video, thanks so much Would you mind sharing a bit more about the dial indicator stand you have? I am building one myself and your model looks very neat 😊

Hey Vince, thanks for posting these videos, very helpful .. you mention it would be nice to Richard King as a neighbour, I wish you were mine, you don't happen to be in Victoria are you? LOL

THANK YOU! I’m at the scraping stage of doing the same thing to my Clausing 8025 mill - much smaller than yours but much the same process. Picked up some great tips from your videos. Greatly appreciated.

Hey Vince, on you saddle, how did you ascertain that the "slope" was coming from the knee-side ways and not the table side?

I'm building a hillside cable-driven tram. Would you be interested in helping with the design for a fee? The responsibility would be all mine.

Really good tutorial and content..Thank you. Really..I have learned so much just from you sharing each step as you chase thousands to dial in your machine as close as possible..I believe your machine is now better than factory spec tolerances..Bravo as I know it is and was so much work to do so..

Why would it necessarily matter if the bed was 7 thousandths less thickness than it was before?
@advanceair2 жыл бұрын
Removing material from matting surfaces can miss align lead screws and nuts. That is why you add Turcite to make it up
@mr.wardensworkshop2 жыл бұрын
@@advanceair got it. Thank you
@martinmarriott36072 жыл бұрын
Surely it would be much less work to re align the nut. Perhaps you enjoy the scraping.
@advanceair2 жыл бұрын
True. Main purpose of adding Turcite was for longevity of machine
@hairyfro2 жыл бұрын
@@martinmarriott3607 How would you go about re-aligning the nuts? They're held in a solid casting at a fixed distance from each other.
