Milling Sugar Maple on the Wood-Mizer LT15

Milling a 4 year old hard maple log to see what it looks like inside and have a little camera fun. Using the Husqvarna 540XP Mark III to cut the slabs into firewood.

Good job there Sir. That stuff turned out nice. When your mill got to the end on that one cut, I figured well here goes a camera…😂 I’ve done it. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! I saw the short and that's something we have to do too but there's a burn ban in NY until mid April.

I agree, normal maple can be a bit bland.

@southernadirondackoutdoors the last one I did turned out like bland as can be. Only three sections had figure. But I'll use the plan wood in cutting boards.

It has been weird...cold and a foot of snow one day and sunny and 50 a couple days later then back to cold but it looks like it is finally stabilizing to be more spring-like.

Watching that blade get closer to the camera made me nervous.

That's what I was hoping for! 😁 It took many minutes of pondering to come up with an effective but simple rig to get the blade that close without doing damage. On the right hand split screen the camera can be seen dropping away.
