It is so relaxing for me to watch you girls run the sawmill. Even when things are not going well you all seem so calm. The other day when you were sawing the railroad ties and trying to figure out the best way The Boss and Grandpa were there helping and everyone still looks calm and is working on the problem, not finger-pointing.

Nice video. When I do wavy edge, I tend to leave the live edge on the exit side of the blade since I don't have a bark remover. Thanks for sharing your day to day.

Once again, the cinematography is excellent. If you ever decide to do something other than cutting logs and raising worms, filmmaking is definitely your calling.

You need a Bar Stool with the back rest at the end of your" Sawmill Saw " ( armrests included) that pivots!!! So you can set down while the Saw is Cutting!!! Back saver ! Remember to get up, once in a awhile.😁😎🤗😉. Also I wondered if you guys have Radio communication between yourselves, like a tree Climbers Helmet, without the Helmet??? Maybe little Motorola clip-on Radios??? It saves alot of time & hassles.

I’m not a lumber expert but those trailer floor logs looked like white oak to me! I couldn’t tell in your video, did they have medullary rays? That’s an easy way to put them in the oak family and the rough silver bark appears to be white oak. An excellent selection for a trailer floor.

You know I have bought live edge and it had several splits but the wood supplier used wood glue to stabilize the wood and informed me of the fact. As long as he informed me the wood had split and he glued it up he can sell it. some woods like spalted or burl it can be difficult not to damage it, but the informed buyer knows this and will most likely use epoxy to fill the voids. So it is possible to still sell those pieces if you haven't made them into firewood already

Simple video but it’s not easy work it requires a close relationship between coworkers and family respect for the type of timber fullest potential minus the defects in timberlines however for every defective log it’s saleable lesson isn’t without positive consequences I appreciate your positive mindset response to every aspect of grading timber quality experience and turning a negative defective approach in every circumstance as a future glide and not a glitch or disaster

What is that blade for on the LT40 that cuts on the edge of a log. You can see it at 3:22 start to spin at the upper right side of the video - then it starts to lower a little

That is a debarker, she has explained in an earlier video that it removes the bark along the blade path so that the blade doesn't get dulled cutting it.

Siding. The exposed (lower) edge retains the natural edge to provide a more rustic look. It’s often used on cabins and cottages. It was popular in some areas for house siding (especially in rural areas) some years ago but less so now.

Cut 1" then stack them back up perpendicular to mill & cut 1" again... 8',12',16'.. set pieces in saw buck & cut at 4' with chainsaw with long bar.. 100's at a time.. Doesn't hurt to put a 1" strap around pile to contain the chainsaw from wanting to pull the 1x1s all over the place..

I mostly don’t like people who stick their noses into other people’s business. Also I know less than your kid brother about running a saw mill. Plus your parents have doubtless given you advice based on experience. But I’ve read in your comments advice from experienced sawyers and machine operators, who say the same thing I think. So I’ll say my piece and keep the peace hereafter. Every time I see you and your sisters working on the mill without protective eyewear, or your hair not tied up, I fear someday there could be an accident. Long hair, or a braid, caught in machinery is strong enough to pull part or all of your scalp off. You can find your own recent full-colour pictures on the internet. Back in the Victorian period, when young women wore hair long, and machines were powered by leather and hemp belts, scalping was quite a common injury. As to goggles, let us just say I knew the blind stone mason of Wiarton, Ontario.He hated wearing protective eyewear. Of course, hewasn’t born blind . And for a while, he was the one eyed mason. Once he lost sight in both eyes, he wasn’t much of a mason. Couldn’t drive worth a cuss, either. I really like your content.
@burlpage52602 жыл бұрын
I mentioned their hair and gloves one time, to them , because I seen what happened to a guy with long hair , he was making adjustment on back of his tractor ,his hair got caught in PTO it not only scalped him, but it snatched him downward and his arm got caught on the driveshaft and it took his arm off at the shoulder , all this happened in just a few seconds , he left the box blade running and got off his tractor ! Hope you ladies are never disfigured or injured in any kind of way, SAFETY FIRST !! Even if injured, your insurance will deny you any help because you're not working safely ! Just a thought
