The one they said Ford didn't make - a 1971 Boss 302 - discovered and bought off eBay.
Email (jerryheasley@gmail.com) if you have a barn find or know of one. Or call me at 806-236-3681. We will feature you in the video or even buy the car or pay a finder's fee if you don't want the car and just know where it is, etc.
Please subscribe as I will be adding more videos. Thanks!!!
PS: I can get more of the real story without a big video crew that scares real people. It's just me behind the camera asking questions and taking pictures and video - very fun.
Please email (jerryheasley@gmail.com) me leads on cars BEFORE you pulled them out of hiding, then I can take a video like this one.

So my Dad has a 1973 Mach 1 new in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧. He owned nightclubs and was a DJ . Mustangs were very rare in the UK . He was on his way home after a SHOW late at night he hit black ice over 100 mph. Went though a fence spinning around and stopped two fields later car was damaged beyond repair. He got out and walked home about 5 miles unhurt. Lucky Dad we have some great pictures. I was a kid lucky to have my DAD . Time fly’s I miss him now I’m old . We had great times.

My question, of course, is... Why buy all of those parts for a one of a kind car that the odds are against you ever seeing, much less owning? Worked out in the end when you came across it, you have the numbers correct parts to keep that beauty driving for several lifetimes. Congrats on the find and the foresight to stock up on parts. A true once in a lifetime story. Like the 69 Boss Bronco.

I know where you can find them that way , believe it or not in Puerto Rico, that island had barn vehicles that people don't know what they're worth either inheritance or just purchased from someone, I went there in 04 and is amazing the amount of antiques just parked at homes sadly with the latest earthquakes I'd think is going to be lots of them lost.
@Vinwelder
@Vinwelder 5 жыл бұрын
@@jomarz1828 Except he's speaking about the condition but most importantly the ridiculous rarity of this combined with the condition. You aren't going to find one of these in any other country as there was literally only one of these produced, ever. It's literally a prototype of a vehicle they didn't make that year, which costs the manufacturers millions to make since almost everything on it is a one-off part made specifically for that prototype. So it's well above 1 in a million chance, it's probably above a 1 in a billion chance given that it's literally irreplaceable. Especially given that the ones that were made were extremely popular. Prototypes are always much more valuable are rarer, especially when there's only a single prototype that was ever made. For any muscle head this bus just about the Holy Grail...👍

I learned something today: I had no idea there was ever a 1971 Boss 302. When I wanted a Boss Mustang and was looking for a 1970 model, I remember talking to a dealer and was offered a 1971 Boss 351 but it would have taken months to get. I was lucky enough to find my first 1970 Boss 302 that was a trade-in a few days later. That car was destroyed by an engine fire and some years later I was able to find another one. I kept No. 2 for six years until I sold it to a restorer who rebuilt it. In a strange and serendipitous twist of fate, he was looking for some body parts and somehow stumbled across my first one, the shell of which was in a junkyard. So my two cars were related by parts as well as my ownership.

Maybe 2% got chromed, but Perkins knows. Wanna know who worked the midnight shift on the assembly line that made Boss 302's in the 3 week of 1969? Perkins knows the guy and still gets Christmas cards from his wife !!!! Now that's a Ford Man.

What good is a car you don't drive? I once saw an ad for a '65 Chevy Biscayne with the "Drag Pack" option. A 425hp 396 and 4 speed. Price? $75K! I could afford something like that so I built my own. I found a '65 Chevy Biscayne with no rust and a recent paint job so I bought it. I installed a 550hp 454 and a Richmond 6 speed. I added front disc brakes and Hotckis suspension. A 3:42 posi rear end and new interior. I also installed gauges where the factory radio use to be. All for $20K which included the price of the car. This way, I could drive it anywhere I wanted.

ANY car was thought, designed and meant to be driven. That's what gives a car its spirit... I completely agree with you. Showroom divas, the result of collectors trying to park their savings somewhere, are simply sad. They dishonor the time, creativity and effort of whomever created those wonderful automobiles. (MOBILE implied).. If it weren't for the money Enzo made out of rich Ferrari fans, I am sure he would have damned them eternally. Hence his quote: "I build engines and attach wheels to them." He build to race, that was his legacy. So I guess parking cars for posterity is a rich man's disease.

People need to stop griping about how they think this car will sit. Even if I hat was the plan for it, it would be much better for a one of one car to be in a museum than have some idiot wrap it around a tree or swap some big block in to go drag racing. If this were some mundane, cookie-cutter car, I would agree with you...however, the fact that this is the only '71 Boss 302 known to exist AND the fact that prototypes were never sold to the public make this car worthy of trailer queen status.

My step brother back in 1983 had a 1971 Boss with a 351 Cleveland. It had the Boss heads and a 4 speed Muncie transmission. It was totally stock when he got it but had been in a minor front end collision that he had fixed and did a mild build on the motor. But it was a 1971 Boss.

Are you guys sure they made only one? Ford must have made at least one more at the Metuchen NJ plant. Back in 1973, while working as a service person for Brooklyn Union Gas, I saw one parked on a street in Brooklyn, I think it was blue but I'm not 100% sure, but I am 100% sure it was a 1971 Mustang and it had Boss 302 stickers on the sides, not Boss 351's. Being a Mustang enthusiast It caught my attention as I expected it to say Boss 351. Back then I has just bought a 1970 Boss 302 and still own it today.

A truely fascinating story and its obvious how much pleasure you have got from the whole episode. Thanks for sharing it with us. As for the hate mongers.. I get the whole marque rivalry but surely as car lovers we can all appreciate the story. Some obviously haven't watch the vid all way through or not paid attention yet you still offer a forceful opinion. Those who shout about wealthy people flipping cars are clearly wrong the car was bought as a regular model and only serendipity has graced the purchaser with a valuable asset. These are obviously people with a huge passion for their chosen marque. Obviously people who troll and flame through jealousy or other reasons can not be reasoned with so the rest of us can simply ignore and appreciate this interesting tale

Mike Flash ... "Some obviously haven't watch the vid all way through or not paid attention yet you still offer a forceful opinion." As an original owner of one of the 1806 or so BOSS 351'S made, I would agree that the 302 wasn't enough engine for the 71 model . My BOSS 351 in stock factory form could easily beat any previous stock BOSS 302'S , which there were two of them in my hometown. Rare BOSS absolutely !!
@thewriter2549
@thewriter2549 7 жыл бұрын
Depends what you mean by "easily beat." Do you mean in the quarter mile? Or 0-60 MPH? Okay, but Ford engineered their Boss 302 for Trans Am road racing, not 0-60 MPH or quarter mile ET's. Do you think a Boss 351 would easily beat a Boss 302 in the Trans Am where engines need durability and high rpm's

Hi Jerry, I was referring to street racing/ drag racing. That was what went on in the 1970's where I'm from. We even had a BOSS 429 that was raced at our local dragstrip from the next town over from me. To answer your question, most likely not. I also owned a 1960 Austin Healey 3000 Sebring in that same era, which was raced around the Northeast and etc by the previous owner, could out handle the 351 !!

But I guess it's just something I'd have to weigh out the pros and cons of if I was going to restore it. But like most others that have commented here I believe this car has found one of the very few people who truly are deserving of such as awesome piece of american muscle history.

This is got to be the Story of All of KZbin in the automotive history since its Inception. Back and I think 1980 it was a friend of mine went to the local Ford dealership in purchase their entire parts catalog dealership manuals for all the vehicles I think from 64 and a half to 71 I think 73 I think. An entire Ford catalog manual system walk right into the dealer back in the early seventies and the whole catalog from one end to the other.. He went on a buying spree of purchasing all kinds of little muscle car model kits I can't remember the name of them Revell I think maybe it was, with all the models of the muscle cars of the 60s that he bought boxes and boxes of them brand new in the box never opened. He came by and by all my Hot Wheels I had the supercharger houses the loops the splitfire everything I had all this old stuff from the 60s need by everything I had. He is probably the only guy in United States of America that has a brand new in the box crate Ford 427 medium Riser block version never seen the light of day with the original stamp from the dealer he bought it from with cosmoline And the paint strips all over it still. And he bought my 69 Cobra Jet Torino whichever in a barn sitting there and it is the ultimate barn find. in one day you people on KZbin are going to salivate when you see everything he has.. He even has my collection of I think about 3 or 4 years of that SAAC magazines that came out in the early seventies when you could buy a Shelby GT500 with a dual quad and a 4-speed for $4,350 parts articles everything all in original perfect mint condition he bought my entire collection I had. and it's probably the biggest time capsule in Automotive History next to what you have right there in all of the USA and I'd be willing to lay some money on it that you would be astonished if you saw what he had. Yours Takes the Cake no doubt but I tell you what this guy's stuff that he's got is definitely a impressive collection of things in his own right. Just sitting there.....

Ford exec #1 - Move the Boss program to the new 351 Cleveland, (making the most storied small block in the muscle car era) giving us the edge, but let's be sure to produce it in limited numbers for only one year - so even though we have the best running small block of anyone, nobody knows it. They weren't really that heavy they were just made bigger with the 429 engine in mind because that engine was way too big for the previous body mustang and lots of changes had to be made to shoehorn it in. With the bigger engine bay and such the 429 would drop right in easier or that was the original plan.
