I remember this trips with dad to Silverton, Ouray, Montrose, Grand Junction, Gateway, Telluride, Delores...fishing. I haven't made this trip anymore since he passed away from cancer.

Since the 80s weve been going to Colorado through Alamosa, Creed etc.. This year our base camp will be in Silverton and will be taking this route for the 1st time. Beautiful. "Thanx Fer Sharing"

Literally a week ago, my classmates and I all the way from Las Vegas (NV) were on this route recently for a mission trip. We rode on the Silverton train, went water rafting, and walked around the two towns. It was so much fun. Thank you for this video because it will really bring memories for years to come... :-)

I am taking my family there. Any suggestions on when to be there to see maroon bells and go on life? I mean we are coming from TX about 17 hrs drive. So we will be there by noon. I am afraid wont be much time left to see mountains. We have 2 days and 1 day is for train ride to silverton. Any suggestions on how long does it take to see those power of four mountains just for sightseeing? Not really hiking, i have 2 elderly ladies with me.

I took this route to Silverton when I was a kid, so this brings back some memories--especially seeing the Silverton train itself at 1:50! Awesome!

Most of this Highway is closed at this time due to a massive Wildfire, Purgatory, Tammaron, and many other places have been evacuated. June 2, 2018. God Bless You.
