How do you not have more subscribers? I find this podcast so fascinating on the psychology side. Really getting into the minds of so many different people and Ian asking such great questions, it really shows you how similar we all are. Great work ❤❤ Side note: A lot of Italian families do the, “we support you without asking questions,” they almost feel like they are doing you of a favor by not prying into your life. Also, you get a year and a day so that you go to prison. Anything less than 365 days is in county jail.

Really interesting how the ‘family’ relationships form in women’s prison. We ALL want to belong to a caring nonjudgmental community. We all need respect. We need people around us that reflect love and truth. Thanks for sharing!

This is a great episode!! It really shines the light on other issues that hinder reentry (like the half way house and outrageous restitution) and make it difficult for people to make it on the outside. I watched my brother cycle in and out for non payment and it was just stupid. He never could get ahead. Thank you so much for starting your non profit, Jackie! I'm going to watch this one again. I was so enthralled the entire time, but I'm sure I missed details!! Really great interview, Ian. Great decision quitting your day job in January :D

Ian, I disagree about young marriages. There is a beauty in being bonded to someone since a young age. You grow and learn together. Mature together. Being truly committed wholeheartedly at a young age doesn’t mean you miss out. Or forfeit “fun or experience”

I love her too but there almost a naivety and "I need to keep up with social expectations" which weighs heavy on women all across the world. She is my inspiration as she turns her life around having made mistakes. Others would have gone on to fail but here she is striving through life. I wish her the very best in her journey.

A mistake is forgetting to close the garage, she knew what she was doing and she did it over and over. She only stopped when she got caught. Typical of a criminal. She is your family so your perspective on her doesn’t hold any water. She is a criminal who robbed a company, she tries to make it OK becuase she didn’t steal from a person, just a company that “everyone hates” as she said. She totally glossed over all of her crimes. She should have done 10 years for what she did. She is proof that our Justice system doesn’t work.

I live in UK. I am enjoying your topics on your channel. I am impressed by your interview skills. You do not overtalk your guests. You listen to your guests talk before you speak. Psychologist state to give the person who is talking five seconds before you respond. It gives the person time to get prepared for the next question. The questions are emotional when talking about one's own life. They need these little breaks to compose themselves. You are doing well.

I remember when everyone got involved in the mortgage industry back in 2006 and 7. Co-worker her two boys just out of high school and were making 6 figures selling sub-prime mortgages. They had so much business they were just order takers had no clue about what they were doing just pushing paper. Then it all came crashing down and that was the end of it all. Not a single person from a large financial bank or investment broker went to prison after the 2008 crash. The same people who got everyone into the mess were paid billions in tax money bailouts to undo all the mess they made. I knew people who were putting the subprime mortgages into investments. This is why Americans want Trump they see the crooked system we have had for 100's of years want someone to burn it down.

Ok holy crap. Hearing her voice is so comforting bc I’m from RI and she sounds similar to people from home and I miss my family. Also, coming from an Italian/portuguese household, I identify with so much of this. When she discussed how she used to “earn” love from people… wow. Last thing, I can’t believe she was an “ugly” kid in school. She is so beautiful. I bet she wasn’t even ugly. I wish Jacqueline was my aunt or something 😂 she deserves so much love and compassion. Just made it to 43:00 Omg I also have fun ringtones 😂 so I know it’s my husband and not to ignore the text/phone ringing.

I am entitled to my paycheck and where the funds come from has nothing to do with me, since when do employees have to check and see where their employer is getting the funds that they pay them with they really tried it with that!!!

It’s wild to me that she operated willingly at a loss because she felt obligated to give her entire family jobs at her expense. Also wild how the family was happy to leech as long as possible. How would you not devise something is up when she gets a full time job in addition to the business? Clearly her making that move should’ve been a sign that something was clearly at issue but they probably never bothered to ask (haven’t watched the entire thing so maybe they did just assuming they hadn’t)

Friend of mine spent three years at Bryan FPC Women's for financial stuff. She's far from what you'd call a master criminal. The FBI completely manipulated her into admitting to far, far more than she embezzled by threatening to charge her with dozens of counts of "money laundering" and threatened her with 20 years. She pleaded and wound up spending 3 years inside and 3 years probation. She owes 1M in restitution and $360K in back taxes... much of that on money she did not steal. (She told them about the 500K she actually did steal, but those agents had to bump those numbers) Much. much of what Jacqueline says is exactly what she experienced as told to me.

I am still watching-I was raised by my grandma, who was a RN, but my mom had me young, and she was like the mischievous sister. She was a hair stylist. In 7th grade, my best friend begged her to bleach her hair one weekend we spent the night. My mom tried to talk her out of it. I can’t remember what my friend had done ✅ previously to her hair-something that my mom tried to talk her out of the bleach, but Jen would not leave her alone. She did her hair (my mom couldn’t do a damn man’s haircut 💇 to save her life, but color & perms were her thing. My friend’s hair did turn 🥸😂🧐GREEN. My mom’s car 🚗 wouldn’t start, and it was late at night (no UBER back then), so she walked three miles to the shop to get a toner or something to fix her hair. She did get it fixed eventually, but Jackie talking about hair turning green reminded me of it, and my beloved grandma’s name was Jacquelyn a.k.a nurse Jackie.

I had my halfway house at Volunteers of America on Monument St in Baltimore MD. Talk about ridiculousness. I just bided my time. I really didn't want to give up more than a piece of one check to the greedy SOBs. I worked in the kitchen just like I did when I was in these prison camp. (Feds). Once I finally got a job, again, only one check was subject to their 33%. Yeah, 33%. But after that I was already released and living on my own. But I can remember there were guys who did ALL of their time at the halfway house. Which I thought was weird. The place was decrepit. But I guess in some ways it's better than prison. At least you can be out in the community. And don't look for sense with the financial unit. They don't even offer electronic payment. it's ridiculous. Instead of making it easy for people like us to pay, they do everything they can to make it hard. it's an outrage.

Ian, I absolutely love this channel! I am so happy to see a “mom” with a white collar crime! I’m that mom! I’m 51 & did 10 months for a financial crime! I was in my late 30’s! The only thing on my PSI was an open container by a minor from 1991! 😂

It seems to me like the FBI raid was overkill. Did they really need that many armed men in her bathroom? And, many more in the front yard? And, I didn't realize that a person who gets out of prison is going to be hassled for the rest of their lives about things. That is terrible.

Great interview! I’m from Mystic, CT but lived in East Haven for a few years. The demographics are more than 50% Italian descendants.
