My wife and I are engineers in Houston and this may be the best place to raise a family and build wealth. Great pay, good schools, and affordable housing (if you're willing to put up with traffic you can really buy cheap).

CAGR of medium-risk mutual funds over the long term. Though at a young age you might consider higher risk funds like Small Cap Growth or Value funds to squeeze out 12-15%.

Combined income of 400-450k a year... a 4 mil net worth is not impressive
@brentshuffler1234
@brentshuffler1234 5 жыл бұрын
Keep in mind that she started at $15,000 p.a. and that it took a long while to reach $400k at the peak of her career. She also achieved this large net worth by her 40s and retired early (at age 49 y.o.). So the average income would have been closer to $100k p.a. and she did extremely well to save from whatever they earned. They also downsized to less than half of that peak of income because she was earning more than her husband and they moved to living within her husband's salary, which has also fallen by 1/3.

Your mindset is why you will always be poor. She is at a point where the principle can generate an annual income between $120-200k a year without needing to touch the principle. It's the equivalent of a money tree that will last forever. Retiring early with a healthy six figure budget sounds like she is going to be enjoying her life quite a bit, sure beats working till you're dead.
