Put 5 million in a compound interest calculator at 10% per year over 10 years and after 10 years he would be earning 1 million in interest. This works for anyone who early in life can save and invest as much as possible. You can generally live a more comfortable life in later years.

Those expensive homes requires expensive upkeep that will dent you pockets immensely. You can live a good pleasant less stressful life as a regular Joe. A joe with millions in the bank. As a self made multi millionaire, I live a low key as well. I drive a 7 year old vehicle, which I got when my 14 year old previous vehicle started costing more to maintain than was worth it. My best friend has about 1/5 my net worth (yes, we talk about it) yet outspends himself regularly and is constantly stressed about it. I prefer not having that stress. He brags about flying first class or staying in 5 star hotels, yet to me that is just a huge waste of money for a very shot term of comfort. I WILL (not often) splurge for special occasions but it is the exception not standard. I don’t stay in sh*t hole hotels but comfortable enough (Marriott or Hilton) etc. He’s struggling to put his kids through college but my kids have had a fully funded 529 waiting for them for years. They will graduate debt free. I have a literally perfect credit score of 850 (as of last month anyways, it fluctuates slightly constantly).
