Today I will breathe life in a dormant castle. The family tree of the residence of this property starts in the early 1700s with a high official of the First French Empire, ruled by Napoleon Bonaparte. From the four walls of this glorious building, advice was given to the Parisian parliament during times of revolution. Once a dignified place in its heyday, has now been left to the elements for 6 years afore. It's a shame seeing abundant beauty just withering away and all master-crafted works just turning to dust. Today we will immerse ourselves in the life of an important French family that was once prominent in politics and resided inside of this sublime landmark. Enjoy a tour, as I venture my way inside one of our best deserted finds to date and show you all its museum pieces that are still on display, solely left for eternity to take over.

Out of every Explomo presentation I've watched since 2019, that humongous palace they explored in Germany with absolutely everything left intact, down to the library, glasses and wigs, this is all you need to know about time capsules, lifespans and decay. Roland of Gilead said it best: We do all we can to extend our lives and presence but in the end the earth takes it all back.

I also guessed that the family is causing difficulty in settling the estate. What is such a shame is to see all those belongings going to ruin, until they no longer have any value!! This house is already set up to be a lovely bed and breakfast place, because each of the four suites on the second floor have not only sleeping areas, but also lounging and private baths. It has so much potential. Thank you very much for sharing this with us all, and giving us a glimpse into the life of a person that loved the finer things in life!

I have watched countless youtube videos over the years but never anything as spectacular as this. I was spellbound throughout. Can't help thinking that all the former owners of this property, down the centuries, would appreciate your showcasing their beautiful home with its precious contents, allowing mere mortals like myself a fascinating glimpse into an unobtainable world. I presume you alerted the authorities since filming the video, since you mention in the comments below that the contents of the castle have been secured, and the property is now on the market (most likely already sold?) so it will once again be loved and cared for. Well done to you! A word of advice, always wear a mask when entering moldy premises :-)

I also hope this place doesn't get famous or known. Otherwise, many of these works of art will be stolen. Some are of great value. This place urgently needs to be secured. Can you go to the county seat to find out to whom the property is registered to, some of those art pieces are extremely valuable and in immediate need of an art conservator, so their value is not lost and others can perhaps see them in an academic sense, it just kills me to see things of such rare and valuable quality neglected. That place needs a couple caretakers to just live there so the place doesn't get overrun or vandalized.

The older artwork should be at the Louvre. It's pieces of French History. It's unbelievable that wealthy families can be so greedy that they let family heirlooms waste away. That castle can be restored to it's former glory if someone would take the time to do it.

Thank you for this extraordinary tour and for beinv so respectful of the property and it's rightful owners. I looked at antique church relics, figurines, etc. and some of the tiny figurines are worth several thousand dollars each, based on things I saw for sale online. I'm talking about the least expensive things that might be in there. The least the family could've done is secured the property and maintained it properly to prevent the destruction. They could've moved all the art into storage or auctioned off everything and split the proceeds. This is a travesty. What a magical castle.

I see so many things, that I wish I could stop you while you are going through to tell you about, what they are and what somethings are worth. I see an original Caharles Eames lounge chair and ottoman, I see a few paintings that look like old masters, I see what you think is a record player that is actually a large music box, that would have played music on that metal desk. The bronze statue that had wings on its ankles and hat is the Roman God Mercury also called the Greek god Hermès whose staff is a symbol of the medical profession. I’d loved to go through this place, bit by bit and see all the treasures. I hope it does not get looted. An art historian should be allowed to go in and save the important pieces. It’s so sad that it is all going to be lost, stolen or decay into ruin.

@nolachick7474
@nolachick7474 3 жыл бұрын
@@troyrawlins8328 No, I am not. I have a degree in Fine Art with a focus on Interior Design. I had two years of Art History, two years of the History of Interior Design and Architecture, two years of the History of Furniture and Textiles. I have repaired/restored some of my family and friends' artwork, jewelry, expensive dolls and a couple of books that all went through Hurricane Katrina floods, and just have always had and interest in it all. When I watch these videos, I just sit there with eyes wide open (and probably my mouth😂). We lost so much of our history and historic art, artifacts and architecture from Katrina when so many historic churches were flooded. Many, many filled with religious art that came from Italy, France, Belgium, etc. that were much older than the churches they were in, so to see, especially the religious art in the chateaux, manors and castles and their chapels almost gives me a slight panicky PTSD. I want to save it all. I am so thankful for the urbexers that are truly, just Documentary Historians. They're capturing so much of a lost way of life. My Interior Designer self, that had to learn each minute detail, name of furniture ornamentation, construction and evolution (from the first stone chairs to Egyptian thrones and chairs to the first true upholstered chairs, bergeres, through the Louis periods all the way up to the horror we have now of composite plastic/wood pulp mimicking wood grain) cringes, seeing the furniture that was once museum quality, decay. The wallpapers and fabrics on furniture fascinate me and I want to lift them and see the historic layers that can tell how well off or how penny poor the great houses were throughout their history. I want to yell at them to stop at certain things, because it’s the tiny details that reveal the history. So, experience? A little. Knowledge? A good bit. Love of it all? Definitely.

Wow-this is the crowning glory of the exploration world. But so much of this defies logic. The castle really does look totally curated, almost staged if you think about the antique gun on the desk, near a Bill Gates page that had been “perfectly” burnt in a antique ash tray? Was the castle used for a murder mystery? The white chains perfectly scalloped in front of each door-again this was not a last minute discussion, like throwing up some rough barricades. Why would the owner take such care to collect amazing art, yet not have a security system, or property manager? These were smart people, it does not add up, and either does the mess in the attack, when the rest of the property is pristine. The obviously damaged paintings are getting worse by the day from the mold, birds and direct sunlight in the stair well. When an estate of this nature is being negotiated, usually a court appoints a property manager to protect the assets. Those fighting over the contents would no doubt want them protected- unless the black mold turned this into a insurance deal- and the offspring only wants the cash, and could care less about the art? Let’s face it, that kind of black mold screams “knock down the castle”. Since you guys found out the property was in dispute, I hope you keep us updated and can answer some of these questions. Thank you for this enchanting experience! Truly such a beautiful mystery.

I think the first step would be to catalog the contents professionally, then to have the contents appraised. There are many museum-quality items which should certainly be preserved. Contents should be protected until they reach a location where they can be cleaned and repaired. I also noticed that there were some primitive "looted" items, and even a human lower mandible. (What tomb was raided for these items, I cannot even begin to guess...) Where is Harrison Ford when you need him! :D (Re: Indiana Jones.) To be certain, it would take some years to accomplish the above chores. I just hope that the mold evident in the video footage does not destroy all these precious items, before someone has the chance to rescue them. They lose everything! That’s the way it’s been written ever since and no body fight over anything! It’s such a shame to see this beautiful place in such ruins! P.s minute mark.. 26:50 looks like a Tiffany lamp! It’s amazingly beautiful!

I can't understand how a family can let this gorgeous place go to ruin, all those antiques. It is a sin . What a fantastic video. Delaware 😊🇺🇲

This family has more money than they have any need for. They don't think of the items there. Only the money that they will bring them when sold.

I love being able to watch this video, though I am also saddened by the possibility that videos such as this provide a proverbial shopping-list for thieves, making them aware. I hope this family comes to their senses soon, while the contents are still relatively untouched. As someone who has dabbled in antiques over the many years, I cannot even begin to imagine what the contents of this estate would be worth; especially with the possibility of valuable paintings/prints/etc. I've also noticed that there were some architectural details, removed from elsewhere, and unless there was some significance to them, I doubt that they would be displayed in such a fashion, within this collection. Great find, though I fear for the contents in the long term...

On the other hand, it's a record of what's there and indisputable as to the owner if someonegets caught. But surely it's more of a risk to those who would take advantage of an estate left open.

I agree, I saw a cubist painting, I'm sure it's authentic. All these explorer videos smacks of trespassing to me.

Thank you for sharing with us this castle full of history. Truly it is like seeing the treasures frozen in time. I hope the family can come to an agreement and the art displayed in a museum before time without care will destroy the beautiful art work and furniture. You do a amazing job! With love from the USA.

Да согласна с вами , но это культура поведения . Если бы это можно было все сохранить . Где наследники ?, это все на их совести , это не просто богатство , это произведения искусства .

This by far is the best find, some one is keeping it clean. One thing caught my ear when you found a booklet half burned on the Masters desk (Emperor Gates empire). Says it all what he thought ! I just love this chateau it is protected by the Devine! The French have confusing inheritance laws, very complicating.
