Maybe true about the parts and after market profits. It seems like if one company actually cracked a lightweight internal gearbox with a shaft drive or cased chain for a good enough price then it would take off and everyone would make them. It is similar to the issues Mike Burrows ( of lotus bike fame) had, he kept innovating and the UCI banned all his ideas.

Looks like he's using a modified Shimano Alfine hub on the bikes (Alfine 8 originally and 11 on the update). You should be able to figure out how this is done with a bit of googling. There was at least one bike produced with a similar system. The tricky part is getting the drive off the hub. Usually you secure the axle and the hub shell would be your drive but I don't see why you couldn't secure the hub shell and use the axle to drive a sprocket though rotation would be reversed I think.
@Rozbujnik_Rumcajs4 жыл бұрын
@@Surestick88 No need for overcomplicating stuff. On one side you are normaly conected to crank thru chain. On other side you mounting second sprocket instead of disc.
@insanebmxthomas4 жыл бұрын
Exactly, he took a internal gear hub. If you put one of those hubs in a vice and spin the hubshell, the output on the sprocket will be more than that. So whatever he did with the hub, it works perfect as internal gearing without it being 'a hub' anymore. I'm just not completely sold on the shifting under power argument. I've definitely seen ig hubs have a hard time when you do that. But you can definitely mod the internals for it to 'act' more competitive. I wish i had any metals fabrication experience. This seems like it's done in such a simplistic manner yet the results are craaazy!

I am a huge fan of bikes and custom bike builders and I've been watching Paul Brodie for a while now but I wish I knew about this guy, I'd LOVE to make this kind of bike into an overpowered electric bike.... It looks so freaking awesome and the internal drive system is BEAUTIFUL. 😱😍🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

Mate I love how your stuff is just so simple and yet it works better than any of the modern, mass produced rubbish!

EDIT: This sounded wrong after reading it back, don't bother having a go, I understand my error...I will leave original comment here... I love working from sheds etc, Just I meant such a rare talent should be recognised in this world. Ha, ha, I'm laughing because it it so crazy that stuff like this, even though admired by everyone, and comments like, ''genius engineering' are bandied about...How is it that a talent like this is still tinkering in his shed? I should be able to buy a Millyard bike! Why can't I? EDIT: Something very British about it...Whittle ended up making his jet engine in a shed more or less...And no coincidence I mention that great engineer either.

Totally understand where you're coming from. Think it's just the British way of doing things, not to shout about it. Makes me feel proud actually.

@@jayr6666 I like it too, very much, a part of me just can't help thinking it seems like a non recognition of talent - I feel that people are blind, like they were with the likes of Whittle.

well from watching interviews with him he seems to like his shed and workshop he keeps tools to a minimum whilst still having everything he needs to make his creations.

That's why he puts his name on everything. If you start seeing Chinese copies then he can take that sh-t down real fast.

Allan, This bike is truly brilliant and really kicks it against the industry of its ever expanding and arguably over the top expansion. The amounts of cups of tea people could have talking about this design with you is a hard calculation in itself.

Brilliant , top drawer brilliant ! How much does it weigh ? Has the rear shock got rebound damping or does it not need it - seemed to snap back really quick ? I'm away to google epicyclic gears . Great stuff , best channel on youtube , thanks, .
@AllenMillyard4 жыл бұрын
There is perfect rebound damping when riders weight is on the bike, the rider is the engine, try taking the engine out of a motorcycle and compressing the suspension it would bounce up exactly the same with out the mass damping effect of the engine weight 😎

@@AllenMillyard Thanks Allan , yes it makes sense . I'm fed up with all the chain clanking and worrying about what side I lay the bike down on when it goes into the car etc . The enclosed chain on an offroad bike makes so much sense . Great design mate , great .

If I ever had the money to be able to afford one, I would certainly have one built and shipped to me over here in Michigan. Everything you build is a literal work of art that is fully functional

My crappy Bafang drive on my ebike keeps shredding brake pads, cassettes, and chains. (BikTrix sucks) but my Vee Tire Avalanche's are awesome in the Canadian winters!

Your shed built bike makes most bikes look old fashion, some very clever designs and engineering involved. I think the bike industry is well behind you. Good work
