Hi watched this video, Leonardo and Maria there was a lot of emphasis on how the ladies look and how this makes the Leader feel. The cabeceo is often misunderstood here in London. I know that in Argentina it was designed to save embarrassment of the leader asking a lady to dance and get rejected. The rule of dance is a little different in the UK. A gentleman can ask a lady to dance but it is the ladies perogative to either accept or reject the invitation. A gentleman would always accept the ladies choice. That is what being a gentleman is all about. However that said. There are men who do the same stare intensly at a follower and make her feel as you put it "Creeped out." Surely it should be done in a way that is both culturally acceptable to both parties. Where they are not made to feel like they are on the menu. While it is important to keep the culture of the Argentine tango. Surely being respectful is the main point. Intense staring from either party would "creep anyone out." I have found that in crowded Milongas it is good practice to chat to people get to know the community and using the cabeceo becomes easier. It is an unexplainable thing because a look can have many meanings. But as a leader I am always accepting cabeceos from followers. After all your 9 minutes of dancing might not make your night but it might make the followers night. After all it is only 9 minutes and the point is to be social. Your video was good and I understood what you are trying to say but perhaps some explanation of the role as a leader recieving a cabeceo. Thank you for your videos do keep them coming.

I believe cabeceo is not only about saving the leader's pride, but also about avoiding the social pressure on the follower to be "a good girl" that makes her accept the open invitations that the public can see even if she is not particularly interested in that leader or dance at the moment.

Having the right amount and kind of eye contact seems challenging 😭im learning to make appropriate eye contact at natural times for natural lengths of time. It’s awkward for me so ill err on the side of not making eye contact out of fear of inadvertently coming across as too eager (which may or may not be the case)
