I have 2 enfield 1917. I had the barrels switched from 30,06 to 7.62.61-.308. Criterion barrel. Always be .308. They are tack drivers 165-168 grain bullet.

Browning Hi-Power is probably the best overall pick for the pistol, if I had one I would have chosen that. Bravo! BTW, nice production values on the video

Much appreciated, high praise considering the source! Atlantic has some Hungarian BHP clones in the mid to high 400’s. May be worth looking into!

The x39 arisaka is a bit of a rare bird so I was reasonably sure it wouldn’t be picked by anyone else, a BHP (clone) on the hand I thought would get chosen more often than it did.

If you take 7.62x51 out of contention, 9mm probably would be even more so justified since it's more monolithic to pistol cartridges than 7.62x51 is rifle cartridges. Then again if I took that to it's logical conclusion we'd be kicking .30-06 and .45 ACP out too. The pistol would be easy as the only surplus pistol I even own is a Type 54. For the rifle I would choose the 1903A3, primarily due to the ammo availability. But even ignoring that, being an aperture sight with a finer post is easier for me to see than the coarse front post with rear notch sights, but even something like a Type 99's sight arrangement would be sufficient. From a pure design aspect, the replaceable striker has merit.
