Oh... my goodness, what a flashback to my days at Ondangwa in South West Africa... now called Namibia. I remember looking out of a SAAF Puma helicopter doing a casevac in the setting sun. Great video that brought back forgotten memories. 🤕👏🏼👍🏼

I've not tried the missions yet, will give them a go, I've just been getting used to the flight model which is not quite right and sharing my initial thoughts in my first video, but I have high hopes for the major update and post that, that it will fly like a Chinook. The reason for the captions at the start was the AFCS was off but I noticed you fixed that on the return 🙂. AFCS is primarily for stability, not an autopilot, not sure many aware of that. Regards the ramp, they'll have it down like that if someone is on the back 'Ramp riding' for example, prior to landing they'll bring it back up to the 45 position (there or there abouts) to prevent it striking the ground, this would all be controlled by the Crewman/Flight Engineer in the back, the tongue would be open (Stowed), unless over water. Keep up the great content. I've sub'd today.

Thanks Chris! Replay makes it a little tough to select ramp position as my replay tool doesn't recognise that 😅 and yeah the AFCS helps coordinate yaw with other control inputs like roll doesn't it? So I figured I'd run it faulting first (well, off!) then turn it on for the way back to see the difference... It was an error on my part to begin with though of course - when I got airborne I was like "oh yeaaaah! Oops!" 😂 The new tandem rotor support sounds very exciting doesn't it 🙂
@ChrisUK277 ай бұрын
@@BritishAvgeek AFCS would be a real challenge to fly, seems there’s no real difference at the moment and it’s more cosmetic. Tandem rotor update will hopefully sort the flight model out. I wonder if those developing the DCS model are taking notes 😀

It's a Damn shame! I FINALLY get a helicopter I can reasonably control in MSFS and now the new tandem rotor dynamics are probably gonna screw everything up!🤬 Well done video. Love flying that time of day. Thumbs up given!
@BritishAvgeek7 ай бұрын
Thanks! The tandem rotor support in SU15 has already been tested by Miltech and there's a version ready for whenever the update comes, providing no last minute Asobo changes happen. miltech will likely have it patched within a week

Having decent quality hardware probably helps alot with the control of the bird. A neighbour of mine is a HEMS pilot flying Agusta's and he's had a go on my very basic setup flying choppers in MSFS 2020, he said it was fun but he personally found it easier flying for real. Just cooling off watching this and then I'm gonna fire up the VR headset and get inside the Chinook for some fun. Cheers.

I'd love to try some VR one day!

@@BritishAvgeek It's quite immersive in MSFS2020 with a Quest 3 but I think a much higher resolution vr headset and a rtx4090 are what's needed to make it look great as well. It runs ok with the Q3 though, certainly feel like you're sat in the pilots seat. Cheers.

Nice control BA, what gear are you using ? Scratch that, just read your hardware info page.

Glad you found it! Probably a bit weird for Heli flying though but ah well, we can't all afford crazy varieties of hardware for each aircraft we use 🙂

Promising add on, but do the cockpit side windows open???

No, you can click to discard them but not open them

Hello, Just downloaded the CH47 on your recommendation, boy what a brilliant chopper. Having a few issues setting up the correct bindings on my SaitekX52 H.O.T.A.S controls. I don't suppose you might have access to an easy-to-follow setup guide, would you? Love your videos ;-)
@BritishAvgeek7 ай бұрын
Hi! Bit difficult showing a setup as each piece of hardware is different but if you look at the Miltech sim website they have a wiki and they show you the settings/keybinds you need there 🙂

I love this bird just wish you could bind all the switches and such to my Komodo cyclic and collective. In the opp order it says monitor radio but there is no frequency listed to monitor?
@BritishAvgeek7 ай бұрын
Wish I had a cyclic and collective for this! And yeah I noticed the monitor radio but didn't see a way to actually do that so I think it's there more for creative license / imagination perhaps? 😅
@douglasrobinson78577 ай бұрын
Do you not switch the ACRS to Both and cyclic to auto (not currently functional in the aircraft) to turn off dash indication?
@BritishAvgeek7 ай бұрын
Yeah, as mentioned in another comment I'd simply forgotten with all the rest of sorting the recording out and chatting etc basically ... It got turned back on for the return 😂

What add on did you install to monitor your Chinook landing rate?
@BritishAvgeek7 ай бұрын
It's a landing widget from flightsim.to specifically for the payware Parallel 42 Flow Pro

Are these missions coming to Xbox on its release ??
@BritishAvgeek7 ай бұрын
They'll be in the EFB so it's likely yes although the ship based ones won't work unless you have them (and I'm not sure if they're on the marketplace)

Always the North Sea pack to replicate your own for that I suppose

@@BritishAvgeek going to get the North Sea one to go with this. I’m on Xbox so sadly nothing of good enough quality to use with it until this comes out. Also hoping hype hook us up with an Xbox release of their aircraft
