I’m glad to inform you that this siren received a full-on upgrade kit in 2020 as part of a system overhaul. All of the failing drivers were replaced. Unfortunately it only does chimes now.

It sounds like some of the drivers producing the high tone are broken, as the low tone is more prominent

It could be (some sirens in my city in The Netherlands, with a different sound but in the 2008 setup are broken as well), but lower frequencies carry further than high frequencies, with the latter requiring (if I remember the frequency-dB connection correctly) an exponential amount of amplification compared to low/lower frequencies to reach the same sound power output.

This was recorded with a Canon PowerShot SX720-HS and a Canon Rebel T6i (18-135 mm lens). The SX720-HS has 40x optical zoom which came in useful for this test. It now resides with WASirens07, and he continues to produce great content with it.

Siren Boy 1003 Uses the same Tones as an Eows 612. Just this isn't Analog

2:46 Wow it has 2 controllers. I know it has 48 drivers instead of 24. And the original (6024) has 24 drivers and this one (6048) has 48. But why does this one has 2 controllers? Do they both control 24 drivers?

It’s 7 drivers but they both control each tone to make it dual tone as in single tone uses 1 and dual tone uses 2

Ur correct both controllers control 24 drivers each because 6048’s have double the drivers and FS UV can only control up to 32 drivers per controller

The reason for that is cause it's a Modulator 6048. It has 2 of those since it needs that extra power.

Are you for sure? I have not been out to this unit since this test but it was audible in my ambience video recorded in January 2018. It was very likely converted to a single tone with new controllers, lights, and Wi-Fi activation in 2020 when Pierce County did their system upgrade. Also, these sirens do chimes and voice alerts now for tests, but will do full wail in October.

Don't the cities have their own standard systems? We here only get severe weather and we use the wail and voice announcement, pretty creepy since they retired the old one near us
