I bought one of these on the basis of your review (& the reputation of the brand) because of the pawl size. I have used it often and regularly and surprised just how much strength it has. Well worth the money and it has replaced my so ratchet as the one I grab most often in the 3/8 size.

I have this ratchet which I bought with the set of sockets and I absolutely love it. I recently did some suspension work and the ratchet has a great feel compared to my old Husky. I would highly recommend this ratchet especially if you can buy it on sale.

That does look like a really nice ratchet. I would really like to see that ratchet in a low profile, even it it wasn't 90 tooth, it would be really nice to see. To me there are enough standard ratchets on the market, but always need some kind of specialty ratchet for different situations. Thanks for showing it and cheers.

I went by Advanced Auto today and picked up a three pack (1/4, 3/8 and 1/2) of the new Diehard ratchets. All were very dry inside and got the full treatment. They are identical on the inside to Milwaukee. The pawl on these has less writing but they are the same shape. Both are laser etched on the head and both have the same pawl. Both have all the seals and same switch design. Both have the anvil that seats into the head and pin like pawl spring thing. Milwaukee does have a unique handle design. The comfort grip Diehard have very nice handles too tough. Diehard has no stamped markings at all. Edit: All three of mine had a gasket on the anvil. Others on the tube had gaskets too. Bummer Mr. Catus...

Always love these reviews. Won't think twice about spending my money on Milwaukee cordless tools when it come time to get new stuff and that time is coming soon. They aren't even on my list for ratchets, sockets etc. To many other good alternatives. 90% of my stuff is 25+ year old Craftsman. Don't need sockets but I have upgraded ratchets to finer teeth including Gearwrench 120xp and Tekton 90 tooth. Tekton stuff I have has been great. Not say the Milwaukee ratchets aren't quality items but they don't seem better that others thus the "brand" premium pricing is not worth it in this case.

I think they dropped the ball on their handtool line. They squeezed into Home Depot and they promised more. Seems like they tested out a few stores and now they’re backing out. I was hoping to see the single sockets they promised, but that never happened.. the sockets are China and they don’t fit well on other tools anyway. They market to mechanics, yet you see these Packout cases showing up now.. I think Dewalt is doing a better job, I have 2 hardware stores that are stocking a full line of Dewalt Single impact and chrome sockets, ratchets, torque wrenches, regular wrenches, ratcheting wrenches, and they’re all made in Taiwan! It’s looking better than the craftsman version at Lowe’s!

Great review, I wonder who is making all these Taiwanese hand tools for Dewalt, Milwaukee, etc. The biggest problem I see with all these new brand names besides availability, is getting them warrantied and wondering weather they will be making hand tools with their name on them in 5 - 10 yrs. That said this does look like a very nice ratchet, and for once it doesn't have that awful snap on style handle grip.
