@@HTMWorkshop the main thing is input protection. I assume Milwaukee multimeters are independently tested for CAT rating unlike some Chinese ones?

@g a Yeah that is an issue, depending on what you are trying to check you could measure the resistance in both polarities. There is also a circuit you can build to check the diode - see this links www.allaboutcircuits.com/textbook/semiconductors/chpt-3/meter-check-of-a-diode/. But yes a diode function seems like a strange thing to be missing.

Just make sure its in series with the circuit, set the dial, and make sure you probes are in the correct port and your good to go!
