Dewalt etches the build date/year directly on the plastic. Usually on the bottom or inside the battery holder away from the contact points where the battery slides. It will never rub off because the battery covers it. If your build date is beyond the 3yr warranty then they go by receipt and serial doesn't matter since it's not on the receipt anyway.

Good tip.. Milwaukee also sell boot covers for some of their tools that will protect the SS# and tool. But this is a great tip for tools with no covers. I did a video on how easy it is to warranty Milwaukee online.
@The360Electrician2 жыл бұрын
Yes great tip. I know they make them for impacts maybe a few more. I have to reach out to Milwaukee on that one.
@The360Electrician2 жыл бұрын
Yes has to be on the tool No pictures, unfortunately. Also, don't forget your batteries. They also have to have the serial number in tact. Do this for M18 batteries!

Save your sales receipt! The serial number shows the year and week of production the tool or battery can be months old or more when you buy it. Had a couple of batteries start having charging problems and took them in but the serial was out of date by nearly a year but the receipt said I had weeks left, so got two new batteries (after they sent them in) for just a small shipping fee cause I saved the receipt. P. S. I good dealer will send them in for you and ask where they send the tools, might be closer than you think, mine is an hour away so if I need it faster or need parts for out of warranty tool I can run there myself.

It has to be intact on the tool

@@Incipiwav yeah, I recently tried to warranty an impact that the serial number had rubbed off and they said that it had to be legible on the tool for them to warranty it.

Be glad in the US a piece of tape solves your problems. That's just the beginning in Canada--getting Milwaukee warranty coverage here is like squeezing sweat from stone as it is, (I think in US it's much better?). Terrible conditions and things you have to do to get coverage, like very limited hours M-F only, where you have to *take* your tool somewhere (can't ship/mail it), and half of those places will tell you they "don't do warranty work" for Milwaukee once you get there. The official/1st party Milwaukee place has even worse hours than those places and there are zero people to call (except overseas call centre that just tells you exactly what you see on the website). Speaking of the website, Milwaukee never answers any emails or support tickets online and just pretends like they don't know you. Oh and if you ever manage to get to that official place during the few hours they are open M-F by taking time off work to do so, they will tell you something you bring them only has a 1yr warranty when the packaging on it when you bought it said it was 5yrs. *As a general consumer it's absolutely the worst "warranty" I've ever had to deal with from any company. Total garbage and barely worth the paper it's written on.* Stupidly, I still buy some of their products but with the notion that the warranty is the 90 days with HD's return policy at best.
