Useful video - probably a good idea to boil your thoughts down a bit before you go on-camera. This could have been a 10-15 min. video.

on the fence between this and an pneumatic Ingersol rand which is way more powerful and less than 1/2 the price

If you have a large air compressor and are always near it then an air would probably be the way to go. It would probably be ideal to have both at some point!

These rotary tools accept a number of attachments that work well to a different extent for different applications. 1. For paint removal, use stripping disk, it has large openings and wont clog. Cheaper than bristle disk. 2. for polishing use "sanding disk" basically nylon that looks like scotchbrite disk. 3. For heavy metal removal use sand paper disk (will clog from paint) The bristle disk as shown in this video is the more expansive version that works for #1 and #2 scenarios, plus uneven surfaces.

Im a boilermaker and this is my honest opinion, if youre strictly using it for die grinding with burr bit like its intended then it works flawlessly, if your using it for the roloc/disc attatchment then you will be slightly dissapointed unless in really tight spaces- not just by the power but just the overall ergonomics and power , so much easier to use flappy discs on a standard grinder. Where it really shines is deburring square tube and pipe and internal 90° fillets n fits, i use it pretty much only for that.

on the 3M Roloc bristle, white is softest, then yellow is medium, and green is the most aggressive. The soft white bristle is excellent for removing gaskets as you mentioned, and it's also perfect for stripping paint from aluminum without abrading the metal

Great video, surprised Milwaukee didn't include a disc pad assembly. This is the most informative review I've found thus far going over the accessories and demonstrating how the various 3M surface prep pads / Chinese flap wheel discs perform on a painted metal surface with rust. Thanks Scott.

Thanks! Yeah maybe Milwaukee could have included the roloc disc assembly since it’s really not expensive but at the same time you can use the tool for many different applications so they probably didn’t want to prematurely send it out in case you were going to use it for something else. I still need to order a cutting disc adapter and then I should be happy with all of the attachments that I have.

You did good bud, just keep in mind to focus on the task at hand. This was a bit of a long winded roloc, flapper disc etc. Review than the tool. Not saying I could have done any better 😊

Great review thanks. Rough idea of use time with 2, 4 and 6 ah batteries?
@scottwalker19
@scottwalker19 4 жыл бұрын
It really depends on what you are doing with it. The 2ah batteries will run down pretty quick maybe 4-5 minutes of straight heavy use. And then more time the bigger the battery. I like using the 6ah battery for constant heavy use. Its just nice not to have to worry about the battery in the middle of the project.

@@scottwalker19 Thanks for getting back Scott - soooo would that be around 15-20 minutes for the 6 ah? Hmmm a little too little for me, I'd be cycling batteries too often to make it worthwhile. I'll stick with my Suhner thanks. :-)

I would say with the 6ah battery last longer than 15-20 minutes. I would have to have a large project to know for sure. If you are using it all day then maybe it might bot work for you. However to use and air die grinder heavily you will need a large and powerful compressor and not everyone has space and money for that.

@@scottwalker19 Thanks again Scott. I use the electric Suhner Rotoset flexible shaft, so no need for a compressor - still looking for ways to lose the shaft though.:-) Ingersoll Rand used to make a 14.4v cordless right angled die grinder IRTGR25 (usatoolsinc.com/14-4v-right-angle-cordless-die-grinder-discontinued/), the body design was great, just poorly weighted with a big battery on the back, which made it too cumbersome. My feeling with the Milwaukee is it'd be fine for short bursts of duty, but for longer period use, either air or corded electric is still the default. Maybe the success of the Milwaukee (it feels like they're selling a lot of these units and it's definitely filled a big gap in the market)) will tempt I.R. to look again and rerelease an improved version of their old model.

get paint remover. simply best option..save the batteries too...the finish job will look better, verses cutting into the metal

i wonder if that adapter will work on Milwaukees m12 Polisher?
@scottwalker19
@scottwalker19 4 жыл бұрын
It will not. The M12 polisher uses some sort of threaded adapter for the different attachments. If you buy a new m12 polisher it comes with a Roloc adapter in the kit
