Great review. Milwaukee should comp you that saw. Nothing sells better than real world testing/comparisons.

with this saw having such impressive torque, only using 36 volt system, im guessing millwauke has come up with some unique internal gearing inside the saw itself. Also, with it being lower voltage , it probably has much thicker wiring in side the saw to handle the higher amp draw.

Weighs 2x that of my gas powered Stihl. Electrics are fine for trimming and arbor work, but nothing beats gas for felling and bucking. The smaller chain on the Milwaukee spins faster, while not moving as much material, so that's why it doesn't bog.
@dcl979 күн бұрын
I actually prefer a battery saw for felling (not this one, the dual battery thing is stupid and it weighs too much) but I like that I can hear much better, and it's more responsive. Bucking anything over 24" dia. Is where they have issues. You can fell and limb all day on a battery, but you'll run it dead in 20 minutes trying to buck any larger diameter trees.

The times are a changing Battery cars can now outperform Fossil cars, and in my neighborhood there is so much Noise pollution from 2 cycle Sthils all day, the workers use them for felling Coconuts and making Coco lumber onsite.

They claim that, but you do not notice it at all. With the lul in torque, I have to assume it is less once in wood. You can change sprockets and maybe help the torque.

I love the m18 top handle but for big/production saws no replacement for my Dolmar 6400 with a 85cc motor. 15lbs vs M18 with x2 8.0 forge @25lbs
@mojo700410 күн бұрын
This Milwaukee is 19.9 lbs with bar, chain and two 8.0 Ah batteries installed. Good to see a full power battery saw that can truly do the work. Dolmar/Makita make excellent saws. I love my Dolmar 6100, had it professionally ported and tuned by Eric Copsey to build the perfect do it all saw. 13 lb power head. Approaching 7.0 hp and still very fuel efficient. It pulls a 28" bar no problem, though I keep a 20" bar on it, seldom need larger. Very well engineered equipment. Underappreciated brand of saws.
@POLOLOUS310 күн бұрын
@@mojo7004I messed that up, your correct 20lbs with two 8s. Still 5 more pounds. Pro (not homeowner grade) 70-90cc saws are different animals.
@mojo700410 күн бұрын
@@POLOLOUS3 The larger Pro saws are definitely their own category. Perfect for those who need that ability, but very few people actually need that type of saw. I would add that the difference in actual cutting weight is less than 5 lbs though. A Dolmar 6400 with a big bore kit only weighs 15 lbs without a bar, without a chain, and without a tank fuel, all of which are necessary to start cutting - the weight of the Milwaukee includes those. I would estimate that fully fueled, 20 inch bar/chain installed, and ready to cut for and equal amount of time, the Milwaukee is slightly less. Though the M18 won't lose as much weight as the batteries and fuel are depleted. The author of this video claims to have gotten the equivalent cutting time of TWO full tanks of fuel from ONE set of batteries.

@jeremymyers5643 It will beat my Stihl 261. The Stihl MSA 300 is comparable to a stihl 271 farm boss. So, will it beat a Stihl 362 pro saw. I doubt it. But I think you will be surprised how close it comes. The full chisel chain changes this saw dramaticly and will help it be competitive against other saws that would come in a full chisel version.

Milwaukee math doesn't make sense. The Forge 12's are 1890 continuous watts out. So 3780. They might be able to briefly peak at 5.8hp, but there is no way it's continuous which is how chainsaw power is measured.

@dcl97 when ones puts a car on the dynamic, they want to get as close to a 1 to 1 ration with the transmission so you get accurate numbers on Hp. If you are in a low gear, you get higher hp numbers. Might they be getting numbers based off gearing, not a direct output of the motor?

Sigh. Why Milwaukee? You build a torque-monster saw, but you decide to go with a proprietary set-up on the chain drive mechanism. “Hey, should we use a replaceable rim sprocket so the customers can use different chain pitches and longer bars when they don’t wan to stoop while bucking fire wood? Nah.” I just don’t understand it.
