The only way to get a fully accurate measure is to test the rotary hammers on a machine where you you the weight will be exact on each tool and both aligned straight.

the other element is the weight of the tool the fact that the cordless tool and battery combo is heavier than the corded is also going to aid in the performance.. but not bad at all for a cordless tool 👍

This is not exactly apples to apples because when the batteries go dead, the corded one still works to finish the job sooner than having to wait for the batteries to recharge or spend more to get spare batteries. Sooner than later, the battery goes bad, not so with the corded model. Since I got me a generator for other things when going camping, the corded one is the best choice for me.

Garras Porgratix if you can find a plug and feel like drilling that long without a quick break I guess that thought process would be right... though since the lithium revolution I've never had to stop working because my batteries are dying quicker than they can charge

Well.... Using canuckistan dollars here, but here's a breakdown on initial costs. For the purposes of assumptions lets say for corded, you need the drill, generator and extension cord. for The cordless you need a kit with 2 batteries to remain productive. Cordless Milwaukee 2717-22HD kit (2 batteries) = $1000 Corded Milwaukee 5317-21 ($500) + 1400w generator ($400) + heavy duty 50 ft extension cord ($80ish) = $980 So they are both about the same, except with the corded you're dragging around a generator and cord (lower initial productivity), having to refuel and you'll eventually need to do maintenance on the generator. With cordless you'll need to replace or rebuild the batteries in 3-4 years; so both options have their hidden maintenance costs. Basically comes down to what you need it for. If your work is sporadic and mobile then cordless might be better because it's more mobile and has high initial productivity for shorter jobs, but if you need to do chipping or drilling for hours on end without moving around very much, then the corded option is much better.

I have a brand new 2717 which is milwaukee's king cordless SDS max rotary. We drilled through concrete filled 8" cinders with 4" brick on the outside of the building. After one hole the 9.0 battery was dead. Changed the battery and an inch into the next hold the drill started acting up. It was quitting time so we stopped. I hope like hell it's a thermal overload and when I go back tomorrow that's all it was! To be continued.....

You can hear she isn't pushing pressure on the drill and he was, This was obvious bias. However, The problem is that a tool like that typically sits around until it's needed on the occasion. Batteries are not good for occasional use tools. Also, come back when the battery is a year old and do the test. Batteries lose significant performance over time.

With high powered tools like this I always go corded. With corded at least you know youll have juice to keep going. And for everyone who says there may not be power around, think about recharging your batteries because they will go dead with constant use. Id rather keep a small generator than 10 two hundred dollar batteries with me

Who do you think you're fooling. You put the weights on there trying to imply that both have equal downward force, while it is obvious both by the posture of the male, and his being a male, that he is exerting additional force more than the woman is. I can state this with certainty because it is clearly seen in the video that his right arm is extended straighter and the tricep engaged. Granted, it is certainly possible that the cordless is capable of drilling a single hole faster, but consider who would buy either of these. The typical customer buying one is not very interested in how many seconds are shaved off drilling a single hole, unless there were several holes being drilled so the cumulative savings added up is where they see significant benefit and in that case, you're going to run low on battery power on a cordless, then either have to stop and recharge or have further $100('s) invested in more batteries. If your use is where it is not convenient (if possible at all) to string an extension cord, then cordless all the way. Otherwise, a cordless version of this you might get a few hundred hours of use out of while the corded, probably closer to a few thousand hours of use, provided you take care to not let it suck up the concrete dust and wear away the motor or bearings doing so.

im a huge milwaukee fan but i gotta say it makes no sense to ad weights to the hammers for this test, i use on these every day with a 1/2" milwaukee 4pt sds and i just hold it steady and level and it goes through concrete like a hot knife through butter
@ThisTall

I think the point of the weights was just to guarantee the same force is being applied to the tool to make an accurate comparison, but it looks like the guy was clearly pushing as well, and she was not. Unfortunate waste of a comparison.
@ariip
@ariip 8 жыл бұрын
On any rotary hammer is is necessary and most effective to place enough pressure to engage the hammer and prevent kickback, but not any more. That weight amount was probably the amount necessary. Without any force the weight of the drill may not be enough. On every hammer blow the drill bounces back reducing the effectiveness of the impact energy and reduces the drilling performance. You are also using a smaller rotary hammer which is handling smaller holes and less impact energy and kickback. Users of rotary hammers usually know this about operating the tool effectively.

You mean barely pushing on the drill while the male was pushing harder so he finished faster? I would have to say the girl had much worse technique considering this was supposed to be a race to finish first, not a modeling opportunity to show off good posture.

What do you mean by the statement “are r serious? woman? In sdsmax comparison?” First off how about we take a closer look at you and your grammar and sentence, would it not be a bit more proper and easier for others to understand if it were closer to; “Are you serious, a woman in an SDS Max comparison?” So, are you a male chauvinist or do you have a problem with women working in the trades? I’ve worked in the trades (Horizontal Construction Engineer to be exact) for many many years and I can tell you that there are plenty of women that actually complain way less than their male counterparts on any given day and work just as hard, sometimes even harder than the males. Most of the women that worked in this field for me would show up on time, work late if needed and it didn’t matter if it was raining, snowing or 100 degrees Fahrenheit or all three, and hardly ever hear from them. Men whine like little girls, in fact I actually got spoken to for asking the guys ”what, are you a girl?” I’d say “come with me girls, I’ll show you what you’ve got going on today”. They went and whined to upper management that I was belittling them, REALLY?? I told my super that I’m not here to give out hugs, if they want a hug they can go home and see their mother. Oh and by the way, some women could learn to operate heavy equipment quicker than the guys and operate it smoother, it’s like they had the “feel” for it. Don’t underestimate women working in the trades, you just might get shown up… As far as an SDS Max goes it weighs approximately a whopping 12 pounds without a battery, besides they were pushing, not lifting. I’m lost here, I’m not quite sure what you were going for here with that statement. Women don’t just push out 8 pounds +/- everyday, they also carry that proud little bundle everywhere they go on and off all day long while multitasking. You try it! You make it sound like the strongest man competition, “The next event of this portion of the competition, the heavy weights will be operating the MILWAUKEE SDS MAX with the 5/8”x16”x 21” rotary hammer bit, ready men, LIFT, wait for it…..DRILL” So if it was an iron or a vacuum the women could definitely hold their own there…but no way can they handle the monstrous SDS MAX…😂😂😂
