Repairing Milwaukee 545S Kango Hammer. Replacing a burnt out motor.

These hammers would not have been very good so I was a little weary about replacing this armature. But the customer wanted it fixed, so I have to fix it.
But at 200 euro it is worth doing if the rest of the hammer is working correctly.

That motor and the handle setup looks very similar to the older German Kango models (the yellow plastic ones) but the newer Milwaukee version looks messy and much harder to take apart. Design quality at TTI always goes backwards it seems. Shame because the old ones weren't bad at all to work on, nice machines even if there weren't many about.

also seem very similar to Atlas copco drills of 20-30 years ago, which were excellent quality. perhaps made in same factory back in the day ? I still have from from that era that is still running.

@@johnbullard5973 That's the ones, made (I think) by AEG's German factory. They were very nicely made to be repaired, with modular assembly that splits into sub-units, all brass inserts/no self tappers, plug connectors for disassembly etc. The Milwaukee update looks cheap and no thought for maintenance, I can see why Dean hates fixing them.

Yea, it is. It's the same body amd motor as a few other brands skil must supply, like erbauer. But the gearbox on it is much better quality. One of the bosch drill I use started playing up so started using this one in the workshop. I have around 4 drills on the workbench with different bits.

They can be hard to get, I use a main wholesale supplier. But I see a lot of of online shops don't sell many parts for them know. Repairing them and selling spares is losing people money so they don't want to deal with milwaukee

It's not a Wiha, it's Draper 26482 ERGO PLUS, which is a rebranded Orbis 21-1850. Hope that helps.

Dean is in Ireland, AEG tools are on sale where I am in the UK but I've never seen any on site, and even Milwaukee is not very common over here.

The only ones I see using milwaukee on sites are young lads here in Ireland. Any older lads the buy milwaukee quickly dump them and change back.
