I use fuel tools at work and they’re great. I bought a 10 tool brushed Milwaukee kit for the house and it has served me very well. As those brushed tools wear out I will be replacing them one at a time with brushless or fuel models, but that may take a long time since I don’t use them day in and day out.

Thanks for “brushing” us up on the differences between brushed, brushless and Fuel tools in the Milwaukee lineup. (See what I did there?) Annnyhoo….. Brushless tools are fantastic and Fuel kicks it up to 11. (Or 12, in the case of the M12 Fuel Multitool.) Love ‘em! Started out: - Black and Decker 18V Brushed (and NiCad batteries) -Moved to Kobalt 24V Brushless (Great tools but not a very expansive selection at the time.) -Stepped up to Milwaukee Fuel and not looking back. Great video, Nick. Keep up the great work. OPT is the best!

Not every DIYer is willing to spend the money on Milwaukee. If you’re a DIYer and bought Milwaukee Fuel tools, you will enjoy doing projects a lot more especially if you do the very frequently.
@OhioPowerTool
@OhioPowerTool Жыл бұрын
That's very true! For a DIYer especially, Milwaukee is an investment that one will have to look at and balance costs for. They're definitely a phenomenal tool, but the price points may not be for everyone, and that's alright too! Heck, our copywriter's dad refuses to give up on his old backpack-style gas leaf blower even though he's told him multiple times how much strain it would save on his back; some people are just comfortable with what they're comfortable with!

I came here to find the difference between Brushed and Brushless motor and I can say that after watching this video I still have no idea what the difference is :D
@OhioPowerTool
@OhioPowerTool 3 ай бұрын
The difference is that Brushed motors have these carbon brushes that transfer energy through the motor. Brushless is the same concept except it doesn't have brushes. The blog in the description is a great tool to read to learn more! Hope this helps!

I just bought the brushess drill and bit driver combo. I had them in the past and used them for about 4 years on semi trucks. I abused tf out of both of them. The bit driver never died I just left it behind. The drill on the other hand explosed when a 1/2" drill bit snapped going through 3/8" thick aluminum because I was pushing it way too hard.

Basically, all Milwaukee FUEL tools are Brushless, but not all of Milwaukee's Brushless tool options are in the FUEL category. FUEL tools have all the benefits of brushless motors paired with their POWERSTATE brushless motor technology, REDLITHIUM batteries, and Redlink PLUS intelligence for added power output. They're considered the best-of-the-best for Milwaukee's brushless tools in terms of torque and drive power. Hope this helps!

Not knocking the regular brushless stuff, but the only Milwaukee drill I’ve ever had die on me was the brushless 1/2” drill/driver. I’d put the blame partly on me as I was pretty hard on it. I definitely got my money’s worth out of it, and I don’t expect anything made today to last forever regardless of manufacturer or price point.

I want to invest in Milwaukee but I want to buy their newest latest and greatest line up. Is that the fuel?
@OhioPowerTool
@OhioPowerTool Жыл бұрын
That depends! Milwaukee releases new tools on their M12, M18, and MX FUEL lineups pretty frequently; each have their pros and cons, so it's really up to personal preference and what you think you'll need them for throughout the day. If you're doing a lot of professional all-day labor, you may want to look into the FUEL line to get that boost in power and performance, but if you're just looking to use them around the house, you could definitely save some money and get away with an M12 lineup!

Is Milwaukee going to offer an adapter to plug a tool into an outlet? The big power users like the table saw or angle grinder. Put a wire brush on an the 6" angle grinder and it uses an amp hour a minute.

Is the regular brushless line up being discontinued? At Home Depot, they have M18 18V Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 1/2 in. Compact Drill/Driver with One 2.0 Ah Battery on clearance for $89.99. And can you use the fuel batteries on the reg brushless power tools?
@OhioPowerTool
@OhioPowerTool 2 ай бұрын
All M18 batteries work with Brushless M18 Tools! The brushless lineup is alive and still going strong but it does struggle with finding an audience at different times in the year. The big box stores are probably why this option even exists as they love to have different price points on every single tool, most pro suppliers like Ohio Power Tool stock and sell FUEL tools, because they are just a little more money but always have best performance possible. We think the M18 brushless are good tools and if kits go on sale for $99 at holiday than can definitely be a great deal.

because you're not using the FUEL tool w 100% understanding of its features and capabilities. For finish trim work, always use the drill on 1 (vs 2) and set the clutch to the lowest setting (2-4) then drive your screw. Check results. If you want the screw to drive further in, slowly and gradually Increase clutch to desired setting. Thank me later :)

So what exactly does FUEL mean? I’m still not understanding.
@OhioPowerTool
@OhioPowerTool 2 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the confusion, the FUEL range is considered the best of Milwaukee's brushless power tools. FUEL tools have all the benefits of brushless motors paired with their POWERSTATE brushless motor technology, REDLITHIUM batteries, and Redlink PLUS intelligence for added power output. Look at it this way: all FUEL tools have brushless motors, but not all of Milwaukee’s brushless motor options have the boost in power and runtime that the POWERSTATE brushless motor delivers to the FUEL tools.

thing is if buying just the skin only (without battery), im looking at 184mm (7.25") circular saw, the Fuel is nearly twice the weight as the standard brushless one, and a bit more expensive, so why get that when the standard brushless has very similar specs?
@OhioPowerTool
@OhioPowerTool 2 жыл бұрын
For some, it's just personal preference! I know some people that love the weight of their circular saw, but others prefer a lighter tool for ease of use!

As far as the impact drill, it had slightly more than double the rpm than a standard brushless(specs on gun) 600-1500 or so I believe So theoretically it should be stronger and not use as much battery. More rpm probably means it’ll take way longer to overheat

Here is a link to our blog that goes even further into depth about the difference between brushless and FUEL. (news.ohiopowertool.com/milwaukee-m18-fuel-vs-brushless-vs-brushed-motors-how-do-they-compare/) To put it simply both are brushless motors but FUEL added more power and features as it was a line for individuals that needed more power out of their tools. Regular brushless tools are for those who may not need all of the extra power and additional add-ons (like Redlink PLUS for example). Milwaukee wanted to keep an affordable line for those who needed it but they also wanted to keep growing and provide more power with upgraded specs to original models. Hopefully, this helps!

The mid-level brushless series is not fun to use. The drill chokes up, not fun to use.. The saw has a crappy safety trigger that doesn't work 1 out 10 times. not fun to use. They just don't chooch.
