The con about the bits is that a screw, lag, metal, anything but wood (besides for the soft stuff) destroys those self feeding switchblade bits. I had maybe 300 holes to drill for prep work to run run lineset, through shingles, wood with nails and lags, I bought the carbide big hawg kit. Best buy EVER! 8bwas able ton drill 48 holes in like 20 mins (that's including moving the ladder the whole length and width of the kitchen and dining room. Please Vince for the sake of, the best hole saws.... Let's go big hawg carbide vs switchblade. Yes replacing the blade when needed.

I bought a 2 inch version of this, but it wasn’t a switchblade and the job site I’ve been working at has shitty framing (nails everywhere) and I completely destroyed the blade on my second day. Most of the nails I hit were not visible, so I couldn’t do anything about it, but I might get one of those carbide kits. If they can cut through nails no problem then that seems like a much better deal than these

i ran a forsner bit like that when i did my review of the m12 hammer drill. all went well except securing the 2x4 i was drilling in and that is what i was doing when i decided to make a handle for my 12 drll. Cant wait to see the super hawg in action!!

I use that bit all the time to run linesets at work and they work pretty good

I have over 7’ of extensions with this bit. I run it on the Milwaukee lineman Impact and rarely grab a ladder for most houses. I use them for 2-1/8” tubes and bundles of low voltage. They hold up okay as long as you stop when contacting medal, if you keep going you will have to replace it. You just have to pick the best spot and get lucky at the same time.

Vince, thank you for the vid. I'm looking at these switchblades for a hard wood application. I need to drill a couple hundred 2" holes through IPE 4/4 boards (deck planks) This is the hardest of hard woods. All my other bits are just smoking. It takes minutes to get through one hole cut. I've tried my pistol grip cordless, my 1/2HP cord and my drill press as well. I'm looking for a better bit for the job. What do you think; will these cut or is likely the self-feed bit will just break off?

I think it may be too aggressive for lockset holes. I think a hole saw, where you're only cutting the periphery of the hole is better than removing ALL of the wood like this or a Forstner bit. (For that specific application. Especially for fiber, hollow, fiberglass, and metal doors.)

Vince. PLEASE do a piece on Milwaukee's 2631-20 circular saw. No one else has. I was saving for the fuel but 2631's are on promo for $179 in store at H.D. w/ free 5.0xc. This saw flys under the radar and it's powerful n light.

We use hole hawgs, but if it's worth the upgrade, I will grab at least one super hawg! I like the quick lok business end! 💪 Don't they make a 7/16 lineman impact also? Wonder if it's quick lok Linemen out there need these cool toys.... I mean.... Tools too! 👍see ya on the next one

This bits work great, however if you have to drill through a beam thicker than the length of the bit stop every inch and back it out or it will create a heat compressed pulp plug that will get your auger stuck in the beam. It's a very bad day trying to get it unstuck. If you have to, use a long thin drill bit to work around the play of the quick lock chuck and break up the plug/pulp then slowly back it out. PITA.... Milwalkee needs to put a scrape feature on the chuck so pulp doesn't compress against the smooth surface as you bore. Bad design.
