That's exactly what I used my offset router for on a hardwood floor recently. I need to pickup the plung base soon
@hardtymz251710 ай бұрын
The plunge is king! Yea I looked up what to do with an offset adapter and it’s very limited. As badly limited as a full size Dewalt Dremel cutter drill thing. I still haven’t found one use for that nonsense! (It was free) it’s mostly used to cut out electrical outlets?! Literally the harbor freight drywall saw is faster and easier and less messy. What a terrible eclectic tool that was.

Dust collection works well with the plunge base...unless you're using a template guide bushing. Learned that the hard way.

Thank you. Do you know if there is a Milwaukee Template Guide kit for this router ? The user manual refers to it but i have not been able to find it anywhere. Cheers.

Where can we find that packout crate insert with which you built that router table from??? That is so cool to be able to mount the little router under that for site work.

Whats your thoughts on comparison between the bigger router and the compact? I want the ½ but not sure I'd need it since this one has a plunge and offset acc.
@Realism91 Жыл бұрын
I was thinking of making a lipping base out of the offset base for flushing solid edging. Lipping planer's are useful but too expensive for a dedicated tool... How shallow can the offset collet hold the bit, can it go flush to the base plate?
@mattstmartin9232 Жыл бұрын
Did you end up building a lipping base on the offset base?
@Realism91 Жыл бұрын
I don't do enough volume to need one yet, maybe in the future. It looks like a good idea but none of my 5 routers came with one and with all my gadget buying I've never ended up with the accessory.
@Realism91 Жыл бұрын
@@mattstmartin9232To make the lipping base just template route the offset base to another piece of acrylic, now take the copied one and stick it to plywood so the corner of the plywood is in the center of the bit opening now template route the excess off. Now you just have to keep the router flat on the material so not to gouge anything.

Thanks for the demo. Doing research before buying my first router and I think Milwaukee is the way I wanna go. Question for you though. At around the 10:00 min mark, it looks like as you are routing the table a black dial just below the on/off switch is turning from the vibration of the router just being on/used. That can't be normal right?? I admit I am a newbie but isn't that the micro adjustment dial? if so your depth was changing as you worked. Thanks so much for showcasing that plunger I think it's gonna be a must have when I get the Router. Would love a response about the moving dial if you could, as that's my only concern :)

I saw reviews on Milwaukee’s website a few people broke the tightening latch on the plunge base with normal use. I hope Milwaukee either fixed this or there were just a couple of fluke cases of it breaking

You mentioned putting the router in foam - is there a set up you’ve done with the compact router in a packout with foam & any of the bases? I don’t use mine often but would like it all stored in 1 box so when I need it - I’m sure to have all of the pieces with me. Appreciate the videos!

He didn’t show any of the stuff we came for?? No one needs an offset base except for one very specific job and that’s not worth it for the money they charge for that thing. Where’s the packout router table and foam video?! Jipped again, davey.

I hadn’t heard of Kaizen foam until I stumbled over your channel. What’s the difference between that and the original foam that Milwaukee is selling? Which of the pack out boxes will you use for the router and all it’s accessories. And is there a video on route to show it in all it’s splendour?
