Milwaukee woman's maggot-infested apartment spurs calls to TMJ4 for help

After maggots were questionably falling from the ceiling, Berrada Apartment residents contacted their living managers with no answer. One resident then contacted TMJ4 about an abundance of maggots in her apartment. In June, the tenant living above Sherlonda Carter died in a separate location (behind the unit).

They say the person who lived was found dead did they check to make sure nobody else or a pet was dead in that apartment

That many maggots means a large food source is up there in the apartment above. Maggots don't appear out of nothing. Somebody did not do their job.

If someone did not "mishandle" a body, maybe it was spoiled meat in a refrigerator that was turned off, or was left without power by the power company.

For there to have that many maggots, there has to be an abnormal amount of recent trash or dead body/bodies. Definitely suspicious and I would have called the police. Especially because she reported smell, as well. Disgusting. I feel for her and will be praying for her.

In 2022 Berrada Properties had a rat infestion at a apartment building on the corner of 31st and Wells Street (3103 West Wells Street) on WISN 12, In 2023 Berrada Properties was responsible the water damage for Aaron Redd's apartment on North 27th Street between Hope and Roosevelt Drive they did not fix his ceiling on WISN 12. The apartment fire on Sherman Blvd and Florist Avenue,After the fire black tenants items were stolen and ransacked. The maggot infestation in Sherlonda Carter's apartment is nasty.

I get calls from section 8 residents all the time. Some just pay for all their repairs because nobody shows up otherwise. Others so frustrated from years of being neglected. Its hard to listen to sometimes

If there's no food there, there's nothing for a maggot to eat, so it's not the apartment owners. It's the person in the apartment

And since this is the NW side. Nothing is going to happen. It will just be an ongoing issue with call dodging. City relaying that they have reached out. Most of these people arent even concern with these concerns because they either got things as they were from the city or have never stepped foot in the city where this property is.
