As a long time TT watcher, I never did foresee this day. Japan 4-0 China. Ito is taking down Chinese players. Not quite consistently yet but the turning point has been reached a while back.

He says early on that when Mima starts to slow loop she is in trouble. When she's dictating with Mima smash she's at her best. Adam has also done his work to learn about table tennis history and ties them in seamlessly with his commentating. It never feels forced. Being a good commentator is a different skill. Many pros fail in front of the mic

伊藤的打法非常先进，速度快、力量足，没有多余动作、干净利落。这种打法虽然失误率高很吃状态，但是伊藤驾驭得非常好，有种打球不讲理的感觉，我印象比较深的是之前朱雨玲也是被血虐，被打的完全找不到点位，脚下步伐永远慢一拍，动作还没准备好球就被拍过来了。

@@DonaldCoC Basically the comment says Ito's play style is very fast and efficient. This play style could be risky but she has handled it extremely well. Zhu Yuling also got dominated by her once. It could be hard to find a rhythm playing against her as she seems to be always one step ahead of the opponent, smashes are returned before one is ready.

@Chang Oh my mistake, I'm too excited because I'm Ito fan since she won Swedish Open. She is my second favorite female player after Fukuhara Ai (she retied now). Even I'm from Vietnam, I don't count too much on Vietnam table tennis team :( But thanks you :D

@Chang If you are talking about some sport in Olympic level, I don't think there is any in the list by now. Vietnam is good but just in Asean, and just a few of sport in Asia, but we have never been the best. Vietnam is very good in some martial arts like Pencak silat or Vovinam (because it's from Vietnam). I love table tennis but so sad that best Vietnamese male player's rank is just around 300, so i don't have a lot of chance to watch him play in some tournament like this.

@Chang Yeah I'm surely that Vietnam is the best at Vovinam, because we created it, but it isn't popular like those sports you said. All the thing you said are quite true. But we have seagame which is a sport festival happen every 2 year, and at Seagme 30 hosted in Philippines, we got second after Philippines (the host always is the 1st every year), Silat came from three country, which are Philippines, Indo and Malaysia, but in that festival we got a lot of gold medals from this :D We are not too outstanding in something but we are quite good in our area (Asean), our football team got a good result (national team and U23) in 2018 -2019 too. I haven't wrote in English too much like this, sorry if I have any mistake in grammar or spelling. I'm proud of my country's sport team no matter what result they have in some tournament. :D

Mima Ito is Ding Ning's kryptonite. She made the queen of hearts look like she was playing in slow motion. They say styles makes fights and I say styles makes plays. The challenge now will be how Ding Ning would prepare for their next encounter.

Ito is a whirlwind in action. She won the 3rd game 11-0! Ding Ning has no idea whatsoever how to deal with her. My guess is that a player who can slow down the rallies and use a lot of spin would do better against Ito than one who tries to match her at the short-hop game. Liu Shiwen is similar, almost impossible to defeat at the short-hop game. It should be mentioned that Ito is not just a short-hopper. She has chop-blocks, sidespins, spinless slams and loops too. She's a small girl but maybe the most talented I've ever seen.

伊藤的重心保持的比平野的好多。虽然她是打反手正胶，但她被调动时也不怕退半步。反正稳防以后下一板她还能进攻。可能因为她打过来的球没有旋转，所以丁宁防守中也很难加速。反过来对典型的两面反胶，退台以后如果拉不出超强的旋转球而球等着被压或反拉。

Skeptical Caveman her forehand used to also be incredibly inconsistent. It has gotten much better over the last year. If she plays even 75% this well it will be hard for the Chinese to win. One thing she still needs to work on is her patience tho, if those shots weren’t falling for her she often doesn’t know how to take it back a notch until she finds her rhythm. She still needs to adjust her aggressiveness because you just won’t play that well every day, and you need to still be able to win on those days

Depends on how you look at it. If you are 10-0 behind and the opponent gives you a free point. It's like saying "here is a free point because you cant make it yourself". I think that is more disrespectful than losing 11-0. I would rather lose 11-0.

I think everybody is expecting the mercy point but I think Ito did a 11-0 intentionally to further destroy the confidence of Ding. Ito has a lot of psychological side of game in her.

总的来说，老一代丁宁朱雨玲都是主动进攻少，还是老思路靠防守反攻。有机会进攻时偏保守稳拉一板，质量不高，遇到快攻的伊藤场面上只能被动挨打。加上接伊藤发球差，伊藤发挥好就是九死无生。女乒的应对策略是发反手长结合正手短，加强抗伊藤反手弹击/正手拍击时的旋转和落点。但这些都是被动防御，输赢全看伊藤失误。

Great performance from Ito. She destroyed Ding mostly by attacking her long serve and these "crazy" smash counters. I saw only the highlights, not the whole match. Ito is on fire anyway but I'd say that it doesn't have to work every time. I saw her being not able to counter smash top spin shots many times, when opponent's stroke was really strong and spinny. Ding wasn't able to do it this.
