i can only imagine how disappointed and frustrated someone would be if they tried to use this video as a guide for this process without prior experience with this bracket or radio. Just glossing over how incredibly difficult it is to make minute azimuth adjustments straight from the mounting bracket without having a fine tuning mechanism in the bracket would drive any novice tech to hysteria. Hint: its far easier to loosen the mast mounting brackets a tiny bit and use large channel locks or a pipe wrench to make slow, incremental adjustments by turning the mast itself. Not only will it move more smoothly than the antenna bracket moves on the mast, but you can do it from a lower, safer position nearby your laptop. And anyone that isn't making periodic marks with a sharpie to remind them where the last highest signal level was achieved will inevitably end up starting from scratch a couple of times. Further, it looks like the mast is 2" EMT, not rigid GRC. A dish this sensitive and accurate would bobble in the wind far beyond the margin of error for azimuth, as you can clearly see it doing so when the tech nudges it. EMT or similar radio specific masts can flex nearly a couple of inches depending on the length. While I like the performance of Mimosa radios, the bracketry supplied is hit and miss, with some providing semi precise alignment mechanisms ans stability, with other brackets being clumsy and rudimentary leaving small adjustments virtually impossible. Thats fine for a BST or a close proximity subscriber unit, but for moderate PTP links, the precision of the bracket allows higher signal levels, and that it will likely allow for longer intervals between maintenance visits because if you start with high signal, it takes more time or more severe disturbances and obstructions to reduce performance. And even the Mimosa brackets that come with mechanisms intended to facilitate precise adjustment often fail because the slop in the bolt holes is so large that reversing the direction of adjustment will result in the bracket shifting by several degrees. They didn't even really demonstrate the vertical mechanism on this one, but my experience with other Mimosa PTP brackets was that on final adjustment, you must only travel one direction and stop at the peak established on previous sweeps, because reversing direction, like i said, will shift the entire bracket more than the margin you're adjusting. You should be far more concise about these minute distinctions and spend more time detailing the exact physical process of making adjustments instead of this shallow overview that ignores the real challenges of alignment. This video has more attention to the production quality than the significance of the actual installation details necessary for a reliable link alignment.

That slow refresh on the signal meter is very uncomfortable to use. If you have access to the firmware code of your products, you need to make it update at least twice a second or faster. How about also including a headphone jack on the radio with real time signal strength tone ?

Did you put the radio in "aiming mode" ? It does seem a little more responsive that way than just looking at the signal from the main page. But mostly, if I remember correctly the aiming mode just makes the signal meter larger on the screen. And it will still lag. So you have to make small changes and then wait a few seconds. And this, unfortunately, i suspect, is due to he fact that Mimosas as well as many newer radios don't disable any automatic gain control functions during alignment. So when you make an adjustment, the radio may be adapting the gain to compensate, which can be frustrating and counterintuitive. But maybe there is a reason for that. If I remember correctly, Radwin 2000's and other older models also don't have a way to disable AGC features during alignment. The interface does not always make these things clear and even dealing with first level tech support, they will often not be able to answer that question.

Experimental 10ghz band? What does it take to get licensed in that?

That's a good question. It's easy for us, since we're an equipment manufacturer. You aren't allowed to charge customers that are connected behind the any 10 GHz link. You would need to go to this link and see if you qualify: apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/els/index.cfm

We highly recommend the new C5x with modular antennas. If you already have a C5c, please check out the Ubiquiti RocketDishes.

That's correct. The 11 GHz band is licensed in the United States.
