If anyone thinks the wedding looks a bit fanciful, I can tell you this is exactly how an Orthodox wedding is. Right down to the exchange of stefani (crowns). Beautiful service and very tastefully captured by FFC.

Jonathan and Mina were probably born Anglican but their families became interested in Orthodoxy thanks to Eastern European immigrant friends who invited them to their church (albeit a minority in 1897 England) which could have been where they met.

i saw this in the theatre when it first released and, when the buckets of blood were tossed onto the bed, i admit my husband and i started laughing. i love gary oldman but his delivery of "blaahd!" here teeters on the edge of comic.

The Orthodox wedding is actually the only part of the movie that was filmed on location. It's an Orthodox Church in Los Angeles (in the story it takes place in Romania)
