Something that everyone neglects to mention with Minato is he was already exhausted going into his fight with Obito and Kurama. He spent the entire day stopping the seal from breaking on Kushina. It was weak during childbirth and so he had to use his own chakra to keep the seal from breaking and also to supress the 9 tails. He didn't go into the fight at full power because he was exhausted. Then he saves Naruto and Kushina multiple times, then he teleports a 9 tails beast bomb then fights Obito then does everything else. Obito literally exploited every advantage and it still wasn't enough. Minato is insane.

Itatchi is the guy but this battle shows there’s a reason for him being number 2 in the test and even that doesn’t show the gap enough with both in their prime.

A bit of an oversight, Minato has learned a lot more sealing Justus than just reaper death seal and the eight trigrams sealing technique from Kushina who was an Uzumaki, who we know were basically the gods of sealing techniques so dangerous everyone literally had to gang up on them to eradicate them based on fear alone. So with his instantaneous levels of speed, plus top class sealing techniques, Minato was never meant to be a raw power type shinobi. He would definitely not try to brute force the Susanoo. I think he's more likely to find a way to seal or disable the Sharingan or the Susanoo itself somehow. As seen in the show many times the way to break sealing techniques are to brute force them with raw chakra power, or through some built in mechanism in the sealing technique. We know Itachi isn't going to out chakra Minato based on the evidence covered in this video, plus the Uzumaki sealing techniques are unrivaled and borderline busted. Even if Itachi were to figure out the mechanism to break it, Minato wouldn't stand around waiting for him to figure it out like a lot of anime characters would lol. In that time Minato is likely to instantaneously capitalize and end the fight. Also, since Minato's backstory was barely explored in the show, we really don't know much about his power or Jutsu arsenal beyond "he's extremely dangerous and fast". Whereas Itachi has tons of screen time and we got to see his story from childhood to adulthood. Based on just the fact that we know Itachi's entire arsenal and barely know Minato's but it's still borderline 50/50 matchup, I'll give the slight edge to Minato in winning at least 6/10 fights.

@@Quoper1 well tbh, there are different types of seals, but any variation in the show in to like the 10th power would be viable. For the sharingan it would easily be one like sai or the scroll types that sealed the Edo tensei people. I seriously doubt that Minato wouldn't have access to a faster and improved version of these. It could also be a type like he uses to mark people, that's already a seal, and since sealing works for chakra like with tailed beasts, i doubt you wouldn't be able to seal or disable chakra from certain areas like his eyes, that's said, it would probably take too long to do in combat imo, based on the Kurama seal and Kakashi's seal on Sasuke's curse mark.

When he did that, he became only the second person to ever SPLIT a tailed beast, after Hagoromo split the 10 tails into 9 entities. HOWEVER, I'd argue that is not a testament to his chackra supplies, but rather a testament to his extreme proficiency with sealing jutsus. The higher degree of mastery you have over a jutsu, the less chackra you end up spending on it. That's why he was able to perform the Reaper Death Seal on something with MUCH more chackra and that's why he was able to spam FTG like it was nothing.

I do believe that Itachi's sickness is just fact he unlocked and used his MS a lot at such young age (he was 13 ) - his body probably couldn't handle the stress and chakra drain this required. For comparision - at the start of Naruto, Kakashi (an adult in his twenties) could only use normal sharingan very briefly and needed a lot of time to recuperate afterwards. Same with MS later in shippuden - a few uses and he's out.

Honestly, they both have the battle IQ and ability to break down all of their jutsu and come up with unorthodox solutions to exploit whatever weaknesses the jutsu has but at the end of the day Minato can throw hands all day while itachi can only square up at lunch

Not really what stops itachi from using amateretsu on minatos kunai it would stop his movements because minatos natural speed isnt that fast an itachi natural speed is . Ilsage mode for minato last s few secs so its an Ireland power in this fight because itachi would not give him that time to access it! Similar to how sasuke wouldnt let naruto use shadow clones . We have h2h feats for itachi but minato without flying rajin is a different story

Even if Itachi is basically a pacifist, that doesn't mean that he can't mobilize and adapt in an unnatural situation, especially if the confrontation is a serious one, he prefers most of the time to finish the fights as quickly as possible, that's why Itachi should never be underestimated. Itachi lived his whole life so that Sasuke could defeat him and become an Uchiha hero as well as a hero of the leaf. That, obviously, didn’t go as planned. However, it did allow Sasuke to grow and begin to start asking the right questions that would eventually lead him to becoming the man he (Itachi) wanted him to be. (Itachi was killed so that Sasuke could grow more powerful both as a character (to us in a real world moral sense) and as a Ninja. Itachi from the get go was extremely talented which more precisly means that Itachi just like Minato was pretty much an unique, authentic and especially unpredictable Shinobi which could exceed or overcome almost any expectations. (at least that's what we were shown in the anime by the creator Masashi Kishimoto himself) In my opinion No One in the series should underestimate such an unpredictable Shinobi like Itachi, even Madara (I won't say that Itachi can beat him, but at least he will be pretty much able to put a decent fight that Madara will also be impressed in my opinion). That is why it is arguable/debatable that he probably could or could not defeat foes like Minato, Obito or Pain/Nagato. Itachi was also a prodigy from birth and he knew all sorts of tricks and he's definitely a troublesome fellow to encounter. In my opinion, they are both very versatile, unique, interesting and especially very unpredictable in their way of fighting style approach. If you make an effort to look or to rewatch at all of Itachi's fights, you might discover that he's pretty much always able to outsmart anyone during a fight or a encounter, because of his unpredictability in his way of fighting style approach. His way of thinking and his calmness, intelligence and battle IQ experience factor it's very authentic and underrated, his true potential remain still unknown, because he wasn't go all out against anyone during the series.🤷🏻‍♂️☯️ I don't understand how some of you guys even dare or can to underestimate Itachi like that, many of you guys forget that Itachi isn't just any ordinary shinobi either, he is still considered by a very wide range of Naruto connoisseurs to be a very unique and unpredictable character at the same time and no one should underestimate him as some of you guys currently do. ;/ ☯️🤷🏻‍♂️What you have to remember, is that even in his battle with Sasuke, he has been fighting to lose. Itachi has always attempted to avoid conflict at all costs. He has to maintain his cover as an Akatsuki member, so he has to make viable excuses to avoid battle. When he says that fighting Jiraiya would have serious consequences, we know that he has an innate desire not to fight anyone at all, let alone a hero of the leaf, and he was a spy protecting Konoha from shadows. He could have killed Kakashi with ease. Kakashi even states that Itachi could have killed him, and wondered why he didn't. Knowing this, it is easy to see the pieces that point to a picture of Itachi that is devastatingly powerful in combat. In his confrontation with Asuma and Kurenai when he enters Konoha, we see him send Kurenai flying a large distance with a simple kick. We also see him deflect chidori, and snap Sasuke's arm like a twig with a single hand. He also sends Sasuke flying clear down the hallway with another kick in this fight. He is obviously a powerful, versatile, unpredictable and underrated taijutsu user. We know that he can kill with a glance using Tsukuyomi or Amaterasu, and become nearly invincible with his Susanoo. We see him use exploding clones, (it's his one of his unpredictability in his fighting way approach) powerful genjutsu not linked to his sharingan, ( with a single point of a one of his fingers) and making hand seals at insane speeds. He kicks the shit out of Kakashi and he barely moves. Tobi also tells us himself that Itachi could have killed him if it weren't for carefully guarded secrets. Orochimaru beats Tsunade and Jiraiya without the use of his arms. Granted, Jiraiya was drugged, but it's still the point. Orochimaru couldn't use seals at all. Itachi obliterated Orochimaru effortlessly. Itachi has been a step above from the beginning. In order for him to keep his cover in Akatsuki, he had to avoid conflict without arousing suspicion, and the best way to do that was to present himself as being much less powerful than he actually is. The one thing we have been able to see in detail, is his intelligence and unpredictability in his fighting way approach. Itachi has been shown to be able to plan events years in advance, to account for possible flaws in his plans with powerful contingencies, and to use every possibility to his advantage. Shikamaru plans a few hours in advance, and we label him a tactical genius. If that is the case, what does one even call Itachi? The only real flaws that Itachi possesses is a smaller chakra reserves, and his own morality which keeps him from gaining Eternal Mangekyo. But even the chakra is arguable. The techniques we see him use are enormously powerful, and would therefor have a huge chakra cost. I'm not going to say he is the most powerful character in the anime, but I am going to say he is definitely very very high on that list, and probably higher than most people seem to give him credit for. Lastly but not least, Kishimoto made sure that Itachi was seen as someone special and he did an incredible job in establishing that in the story. 🤷🏻‍♂️☯️✌️

The reason Minato says he's no good at sage mode is simply because of how it affects his fighting style. For him, there's simply so much more he can do during the time it'd take him to collect nature chakra. We must also remember that this is a man who broke down one of the most complex jutsu in existence as a teen and spent 3 years creating a jutsu that he still wasn't satisfied with. The man is a perfectionist, hearing how the first used to eneter sage mode in an instant and never having reached that point himself is why he says this. in no way is it true because we see him enter sage mode without even visibly concentrating on collecting sage chakra. He just a humble dude really.

Minato wins due to having superior reflexes, speed and a close enough battle IQ to counter Itachi’s. Itachi’s battle (and normal) IQ is most typically shown against people who either aren’t nearly as smart as him, or against people who are close to being as smart but are blinded by revenge or rage. Minato is arguably not quite as smart as Itachi, but comes very close. Close enough that in my opinion, there’s no valid argument in my eyes that Itachi could simply outsmart Minato.

I'd agree with a lot of your analysis, and I really like this style of video! Just thinking through their skills and not doing any big long power scaling, I think I agree than Minato would take it more times than not, I think it's a situation where both of them are smart enough that if they knew the others abilities going in and the other didn't they'd win, but Minato's abilities give him more time to figure out Itachi's abilities in the heat of battle

Summons don’t work on Itachi, because they are huge targets and one glimpse of Amaterasu and they are out of commission. Just like Sasuke did vs the 8 tails, or Itachi did vs Nagato summons.

If I remember right, there's somewhere in the manga that either states directly or implies that enough speed beats most Genjutsu (as you're too fast to be caught by a user/fast enough to interrupt them casting it), and with the Sharingan-specific genjutsus, they require eye contact, which Minato typically avoided at high speed. That and the fact most genjutsus can be Kai'd, and given that his chakra reserves clearly outclass Itachi's, I don't think Genjutsu would have been a viable option for Itachi to use and he would know this. Minato probably had the greatest reserves of chakra the Leaf has seen before his son. Given that Hashirama was roughly equal to half of Kurama's chakra, and Minato (while drained/not at max output) was still able to rip half of the 9Tails's chakra out, meaning his max capacity was actually greater than half of Kurama's total chakra. That's pretty insane for one man to have. And then he has Sage Mode on top of that, which tbh he probably wouldn't use seeing as he was pretty bad at collecting sen chakra... and the clone thing is a rather innovative way Naruto came up with, being a shadow clone specialist. I personally place Itachi as losing, but it wouldn't be an easy win for Minato. It would be a war of attrition. Could his Susano'o outlast a barrage from a man whose speed surpasses "Shisui of the Flicker," with his disease cutting away at him? And we can infer that incomplete Susano'o users are susceptible to attacks from below (i.e, Madara during the War). As it stands, Itachi was in no condition to take on the Yondaime, imo, who died in his prime through self-sacrifice, not through being murdered or through disease.

Except the sealing of a tailed beast itself doesn't require a lot of chakra and the only requirement to who it can be sealed in is the persons total possible chakra available not what they have available at that time. So the only chakra he really used was for the activation of the reaper death seal and since tailed beasts don't have actual physical bodies or souls it only required minatos life not much chakra.

I've been asked this question before regarding a versus match between Minato and Itachi and your conclusion was the same answer I gave them. The determining factor is stamina. The only way Itachi is going to win is if he attempts to ends the fight as soon as possible. A long dragged out fight between the two would end in Itachi's defeat and for Minato, he wouldn't have anything in his arsenal to beat Itachi except the Flying Raijin and if he couldn't get through the Susanoo, then he would have to drag the fight out.

Unless he fights with his eyes closed the whole time, which I doubt, Minato probably will need to go into Sage mode before the battle begins, or try set something up, beforehand, considering it’s potential speed. Even if Itachi is basically a pacifist, that doesn't mean that he can't mobilize and adapt in an unnatural situation, especially if the confrontation is a serious one, he prefers most of the time to finish the fights as quickly as possible, that's why Itachi should never be underestimated. Itachi lived his whole life so that Sasuke could defeat him and become an Uchiha hero as well as a hero of the leaf. That, obviously, didn’t go as planned. However, it did allow Sasuke to grow and begin to start asking the right questions that would eventually lead him to becoming the man he (Itachi) wanted him to be. (Itachi was killed so that Sasuke could grow more powerful both as a character (to us in a real world moral sense) and as a Ninja. Itachi from the get go was extremely talented which more precisly means that Itachi just like Minato was pretty much an unique, authentic and especially unpredictable Shinobi which could exceed or overcome almost any expectations. (at least that's what we were shown in the anime by the creator Masashi Kishimoto himself) In my opinion No One in the series should underestimate such an unpredictable Shinobi like Itachi, even Madara (I won't say that Itachi can beat him, but at least he will be pretty much able to put a decent fight that Madara will also be impressed in my opinion). That is why it is arguable/debatable that he probably could or could not defeat foes like Minato, Obito or Pain/Nagato. Itachi was also a prodigy from birth and he knew all sorts of tricks and he's definitely a troublesome fellow to encounter. In my opinion, they are both very versatile, unique, interesting and especially very unpredictable in their way of fighting style approach. If you make an effort to look or to rewatch at all of Itachi's fights, you might discover that he's pretty much always able to outsmart anyone during a fight or a encounter, because of his unpredictability in his way of fighting style approach. His way of thinking and his calmness, intelligence and battle IQ experience factor it's very authentic and underrated, his true potential remain still unknown, because he wasn't go all out against anyone during the series.🤷🏻‍♂️☯️ I don't understand how some of you guys even dare or can to underestimate Itachi like that, many of you guys forget that Itachi isn't just any ordinary shinobi either, he is still considered by a very wide range of Naruto connoisseurs to be a very unique and unpredictable character at the same time and no one should underestimate him as some of you guys currently do. ;/ ☯️🤷🏻‍♂️What you have to remember, is that even in his battle with Sasuke, he has been fighting to lose. Itachi has always attempted to avoid conflict at all costs. He has to maintain his cover as an Akatsuki member, so he has to make viable excuses to avoid battle. When he says that fighting Jiraiya would have serious consequences, we know that he has an innate desire not to fight anyone at all, let alone a hero of the leaf, and he was a spy protecting Konoha from shadows. He could have killed Kakashi with ease. Kakashi even states that Itachi could have killed him, and wondered why he didn't. Knowing this, it is easy to see the pieces that point to a picture of Itachi that is devastatingly powerful in combat. In his confrontation with Asuma and Kurenai when he enters Konoha, we see him send Kurenai flying a large distance with a simple kick. We also see him deflect chidori, and snap Sasuke's arm like a twig with a single hand. He also sends Sasuke flying clear down the hallway with another kick in this fight. He is obviously a powerful, versatile, unpredictable and underrated taijutsu user. We know that he can kill with a glance using Tsukuyomi or Amaterasu, and become nearly invincible with his Susanoo. We see him use exploding clones, (it's his one of his unpredictability in his fighting way approach) powerful genjutsu not linked to his sharingan, ( with a single point of a one of his fingers) and making hand seals at insane speeds. He kicks the shit out of Kakashi and he barely moves. Tobi also tells us himself that Itachi could have killed him if it weren't for carefully guarded secrets. Orochimaru beats Tsunade and Jiraiya without the use of his arms. Granted, Jiraiya was drugged, but it's still the point. Orochimaru couldn't use seals at all. Itachi obliterated Orochimaru effortlessly. Itachi has been a step above from the beginning. In order for him to keep his cover in Akatsuki, he had to avoid conflict without arousing suspicion, and the best way to do that was to present himself as being much less powerful than he actually is. The one thing we have been able to see in detail, is his intelligence and unpredictability in his fighting way approach. Itachi has been shown to be able to plan events years in advance, to account for possible flaws in his plans with powerful contingencies, and to use every possibility to his advantage. Shikamaru plans a few hours in advance, and we label him a tactical genius. If that is the case, what does one even call Itachi? The only real flaws that Itachi possesses is a smaller chakra reserves, and his own morality which keeps him from gaining Eternal Mangekyo. But even the chakra is arguable. The techniques we see him use are enormously powerful, and would therefor have a huge chakra cost. I'm not going to say he is the most powerful character in the anime, but I am going to say he is definitely very very high on that list, and probably higher than most people seem to give him credit for. Lastly but not least, Kishimoto made sure that Itachi was seen as someone special and he did an incredible job in establishing that in the story. 🤷🏻‍♂️☯️✌️

While both Minato and Itachi have a superhuman battle sense and strategic mindset, Itachi has a severe advantage in this field. It is mainly because of his Sharingan. That makes Tsukuyomi only getting a small chance of landing if Itachi manages to catch Minato off guard. Even then, ALL genjutsu has been shown to have a split window. And Minato would be able to break out of any other genjutsu that itachi can cast since Tsukuyomi is the only genjutsu in Itachi's arsenal that can't be broken out of. When it comes to intelligence, Minato is the superior. He got a better grade in both the written part of the Chunnin exam and the academy. He also has FAR more experience, as he completed 874 missions while itachi completed only 340 (need I remind you that Ebisu, Konohamaru's Sensei, has done more missions at 498). Most of Itachi's missions were C-rank, being 152, while Minato has completed more than twice that with just A-rank missions being 323. Then there is Kakashi. He has worked closely with both Itachi and Minato and even when he was defeated by Itachi after the Chunnin Exams, he still considered Minato the most brilliant shinobi to ever live. And lastly, he managed to figure out Obito's Kamui ability in mere moments, there is no feat Itachi has that compares to when it comes to observation and awareness. The flying raijin was made by Tobirama Senju specifically to counter the Uchiha's Sharingan, and Minato is a better than master of the technique than Tobirama. And kirin is not faster than lightning, its bloody made of it and is just aimed. It's the same speed of lightning, as said by Black Zetsu. Minato dodged the damm fourth Raikage when using his lightning chakra release mode, who in the same mode managed to dodge Amaterasu, a technique that instantly sets fire to the target as long as they are in the caster's sight. And when it comes to reaction times, Naruto in his sage mode was able to dodge edo tensei third raikage without any chakra from kurama using its advanced sensory. The third Raikage was probably not as fast than the fourth Raikage but they used the same technique so we can infer that he was still incredibly fast. And naruto dodged him with only sage mode. Sasuke had to rely on susanoo when fighting the fourth raikage because he couldn't dodge any of his attacks. Since Minato is a perfect sage, he would also have reaction times that fast, fast enough that not even MS Sasuke could percieve. But A lot of people think that because Minato performed better at the written part of the Chunin Exams he is much smarter than Itachi. But they always forget that Minato took the Chunin Exams at 12 years old. ( I could be wrong feel free to correct me) while Itachi took it at 9 years old, Three full years younger than Minato. And he came really close to beating his score. But let’s look at some other interesting facts. Itachi graduated from the Academy at 7 years old,one of the youngest graduates ever, younger than Minato. I am not saying Minato is dumb, he is one of the smartest Naruto Verse characters. But saying that he is so much smarter than Itachi because he performed better in just one Exam while leaving out every other Exam/Test where Itachi outperformed him is simply wrong and ignorant. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️ If you're talking about Flying Raijin Technique that Tobirama create it in the first place, then after Minato tried to perfected... still, this isn't an instant win against special Shinobi's like Madara and Itachi and I'll tell why: If your argument it's based on the fight between Tobirama Vs Izuna, then I will tell you that Izuna could have dodged it, but his arrogance and ignorance brought him his dead. While he was fighting Tobirama he was using only his 3 Tomoe Sharingan, while he had His Mangekyo Sharingan in his Arsenal. Even so... even with his 3 Tomoe Sharingan he had the upperhand, just a minute before Izuna's fatal injury, Tobirama looked at his eyes without warning and being careless, and he instantly closed his eyes, at that moment Izuna had the opportunity to stab Tobirama but instead he chooses just to punch him.🤦🏻‍♂️ Later on after the creation of the fog by the clash of water and fire style techniques, Tobirama threw the kunais which Izuna clearly saw them coming but since he had no clue of teleportation jutsu he didn’t try to deflect or move away from those kunais. In short, since a kunai can't penetrated the Susanoo( look at Sasuke Vs Danzo If you don't belive me) especially the one that Itachi has(with Yata Mirror) the teleportation jutsu becomes invalid as an attacking technique. 🤷🏻‍♂️ For me Itachi has slightly better chances of winning because of his calmness, intelligence and battle IQ experience. In my opinion Itachi is one of the most Unique and Influential characters from the series. The thing that people underestimate about Itachi fights/encounters, isn't just his power, (it's mainly writters or Kishimoto's fault for making Itachi seem or to look very powerful throughout the series) but how smart and intelligent he is during various situations, he never, ever underestimates his opponents because of his composure and his way of being, the level of thinking he's on honestly dwars most people in the series, with only people like Minato and Shikaku comparable with him. More precisly, Itachi isn't just any ordinary Shinobi also, he pretty much knows and he's also aware that all strong opponents have weaknesses (including himself), and he specializes in finding those "weaknesses" and exploiting them ("*Even the strongest of opponents always has a weakness*" - Uchiha Itachi) Itachi is very unique and authentic, especially in the factor of facing various encounters approach, his unpredictability in his way of fighting style approach it's his key factor in all of his encounters. Being blind or nearly blind has never slowed him down (especially when he's pretty much serious, but that's the point, he has never go all out against anyone during the series xD) Itachi it's that type of character who can exceed almost any expectations. (at least that's what we were shown in the anime by the creator Masashi Kishimoto). Moral of the story, never underestimate Itachi. He did more sick than most healthy ninjas do in their entire life. In my opinion No One should underestimate such an unpredictable Shinobi like Itachi, even Madara (I won't say that Itachi can beat him, but at least he will be pretty much able to put a decent fight that Madara will also be impressed in my opinion). Also how can some of you guys even consider that Totsuka Blade it's slow when no such speed feat has been shown through the Shippuden that state it that it is slow? All of you are assuming it to be slow it may not be the case... Its not that the sword is unavoidable but it clearly has a very long range and is a very long blade. If you look at the manga, Naruto, Bee and Itachi are all relatively small from Nagato's point of view, and you can see the Totsuka Blade extending all the way from Itachi, piercing through Nagato, and still managing to nearly pop out toward the reader out of the page. I would say its fast because Kabuto coudldn't even react to it, and its not like Nagato was completely immobile to the point that he couldn't sidestep the blade. Also, Kabuto controlling people from far away is never stated to inhibit the Edos' reaction speed in any way. Being controlled by someone thousands of miles away didn't stop the Third Raikage from dodging KCM Naruto's Rasenshuriken. And as for Orochimaru, the sword struck him in between syllables of a word during his speech. I think that that is pretty fast. Pair the Totsuka Blade with a good feint and its lethal because its ethereal, meaning it can pierce through any object. If the sword didn't live up to its reputation then Orochimaru wouldn't seek it out. People need to stop downplaying Itachi and denying the very clear speed feats of Totsuka. There is no room for interpretations here. The advantage of being an Uchiha, especially for Itachi and Madara, is that during an encounter against them, they always have a counter because of their unpredictable way of fighting factor, they don't run out of options or techniques, they almost always have a counter in their arsenal, even forbidden jutsus seems irrellevant against them, only a few Uchihas know a certain way to approach the situation with a certain and effective technique, that's why is hard/difficult to fight against them in my opinion. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Minato vs. Itachi, even when restricting the versions of them to Naruto’s birthday Minato and sophomore Akatsuki Itachi, can vary dramatically depending on pre-battle circumstances. Since we’re talking about characters whose greatest asset is their minds as opposed to any weapons in their arsenal or how their physical bodies and chakra reserves are, the importance of what they do before the fight even starts cannot be understated. How much do they know about each other going in? Itachi might have an edge simply because he’s from the generation after Minato’s prime and therefore has more extensive information to examine as opposed to Minato at most only knowing about the first six years of Itachi’s life - the majority of which is completely irrelevant for the purposes of a death match. If the history of warfare has taught us anything, it’s that most high-level battles are determined before they start. Obviously, allowances have to be made for unpredictable occurrences and quality of execution, but good preparation going in goes a long way. There is no version of this fight that I can think of where Itachi isn’t better prepared than Minato. Even if you don’t allow them any actual prep time, Itachi would still know more about Minato than Minato does about him. Once Itachi knows he’s up against Flying Raijin, he’s not making any big attacks with Susano’o or Amaterasu. He’s going to use Minato’s lack of knowledge about him to bait Minato into giving him an opening. Now, how likely is this to happen? Probably a toss-up. Itachi would have to nail his first opportunity to win too because as we’ve seen with Minato’s fight with Obito, even an obscure and unreal ability like Kamui is almost completely worthless when trying it on him a second or third time. Itachi basically needs to create a scenario where he can insta-kill Minato before Minato can even comprehend that it’s time to use Flying Raijin. The totsuka blade is certainly capable of that but the formation of Susano’o probably takes longer than Minato’s reaction time and a big object is easier to perceive coming in. If Itachi does kill Minato, it’s probably with something as simple as a kunai. So, yeah. Minato vs. Itachi? I have it as a straight fifty-fifty shot either way. Itachi has a moderate scouting advantage with a slightly higher battle IQ but Minato is significantly better-equipped. There’s no way Itachi fights Minato if he doesn’t have to but since he does here, that’s my analysis.

I think you left out a couple key things about Itachi. 1. He has Kotoamatsukami in his Crow that he can activate and use on Minato even if Minato is not looking. (Everyone leaves this out when they do a fight with Itachi for some reason). 2. We have to remember Itachi put Naruto in a genjutsu with his finger. He can cast them without looking into his eyes. Yes, Minato might be able to fight without looking but he has to look at some point rather that's when they first approach eachother or some other time there would be an opportunity to cast Tsukuyomi. Plus would Minato even know not to look into his eyes? Guy only knew because he trained with Kakashi regularly. And even if he did know he wouldnt know not to look at his finger or any other body part assuming Itachi can genjutsu from any part, and if his eyes were closed Kotoamatsukami doesn't require you to look into the eye for it to work. My opinion, this fight can go either way depending how they play thier cards.

1. the crow that used koto on naruto directly made eyecontact w naruto. like they make it a whole scene that naruto looks and it switches to the crow looking at naruto. this makes it pretty much indirictly tells us that they have to make eyecontact with it. 2. naruto was able to break out of that genjustsu. Would be a little dishonest to say that minato wouldnt be able to. this is beginning of shippuden naruto btw. Also if it was that effective why didnt he use it on someone like kabuto who litreally cut off all vision and hearing just to mitigate his genjutsu. That would seem like a perfect situatiion to use that genjutsu but he made it seem that izanmi was the only possible way to genjutsu kabuto. Not to mention obito who was just before fighting minato was able to control the 9 tails using his base sharingan btw, (idk maybe the creator was just trying to keep the audience from knowing he had a mangekyo so take that with a grain of salt. point still stands) didnt just simply genjutsu minato or even bring it up despite the fact minato didnt try to avoid his eyesight or atleast didnt specifically state that. (This technically is the second best genjutsu feat in the show tbh behind the infinite tsukuyomi, but its lowkey a plot hole n obv the show implys that itachi is a better genjutsu user than obito) 3. in character minato probably knows about uchihas and visual genjutsu but yes to be fair even if he did know theres a strong chance minato looks at him in the eye. thats the main win condition for itachi is minato looking him in the eye. @@challengeaccepted8835 Kotoamatsukami was never used on Naruto. Itachi placed the Crow in Naruto with the intent of it being used on Sasuke, but it ended up activating on Edo Itachi. If it was used on Naruto it wouldn't have happened here since there is a 10 year cool down. Kotoamatsukami does not require eye Contact which what makes it so dangerous and the fact the person does not know they are under a genjutsu. Remember Donzo had bandages over his eye and still casted it on Mifune. Naruto was not able to break out by himself. He was trying and Sakura and chiyo had to break him out. When he fought Kabuto you have to remember Kishimoto had decided to make Itachi a good guy. He was not trying to kill Kabuto. Izanami was used to make him good again (as we see in Boruto) and while trapped in it, He was able to make Kabuto break the reanimation. And if you're referring to finger genjutsu Kabuto was more skilled then Naruto when it comes to breaking Genjutsu so he would have been able to break a basic genjutsu like that unlike Naruto. If you're referring to Kotoamatsukami, it was already used on Itachi and the eye was destroyed by Itachi. I mean tbh that genjutsu that Obito has might not have been a thing at the time of that fight. Kishimoto added and changed alot over the course of writing that it left alot of plot holes. Like Kotoamatsukami is implied to be the strongest genjutsu, but as you said Obitos mysterious genjutsu is able to pretty much do the same exact thing better and with no cool down. But maybe the finger genjutsu would not have worked on Minato. I assume but could be wrong that if itachi can use a basic genjutsu with his finger, he can Tsukuyomi with his finger and the only way to break out of that is having a strong enough Sharingan. In that fight with Naruto he said he didn't use Tsukuyomi because he wasn't able to at that moment. Which is probably because it was fake itachi. And I agree with your last point. Koto is a great arguement. Finger genjutsu is not. Genjutsu has levels to it and obviously mangekyou genjutsu is the top tier, (not including tsukoyomi and the specific mangekyou abilities, just the upgraded version of base sharingan genjutsu). Sharingan genjutsu seems like it takes kage level chakra control to dispell (solo) or it might even be impossible solo. (Depending on the user too I guess). But the finger genjutsu is *not* a sharingan genjutsu, nor is it a mangekyou genjutsu. It is a genjutsu that uses other senses besides the eyes to apply a genjutsu, and based on what we've seen in the anime, most non ocular genjutsu can easily be dispelled solo. Kabuto's feather genjutsu was dispelled by genin. (Sakura, shikamaru) for example. No way a super easy to perform genjutsu like the finger genjutsu is on the level of ocular genjutsus, if it was as potent then itachi could've just spammed it.

I was under the impression that Koto Imatsu Kami only had that insane cooldown period because it was no longer apart of Shisui's body. Danzo has it and then the crow of Itachi, neither of them are Uchiha, unless one of the books confirms Shisui has the same limitation my guess is he could use it far more frequently. Its also stated by Kakashi that Minato probably couldn't use Shadow Clones to train like Naruto implying his mastery of the technique is beyond compare so its unlikely that Minato could use them for something even more difficult like channeling Sage Mode.

I feel like Itachi is a combination of talent and lots of hard work. We’ve seen how much he prioritized training, even at a young age. If Itachi pulled off a crazy tactic in battle, it’s more than likely that he had previously practiced that specific move plenty of times. When he scored the second highest Chunin exam score, he was most likely trying hard to score the highest. On the other hand, Minato has that effortless genius vibe about him - almost like a combination of talent and luck! Look how nonchalantly he flexed perfected sage mode. If he thinks of a tactic in mid-battle, even if it seems ridiculous to even try, it’s more than likely he can pull it off. I bet when he scored the highest Chunin exam score he was just taking the test and happened to get the best score.

I think the unlimited Kamui thing is quite a stretch for two reasons: 1. Kakashi only awakened Kamui unknowingly at that point. It took him way more than 3 years to awaken it consciously (only the time skip is almost 3 years). There's no evidence that supports the idea of Orochimaru unlocking it sooner and after 3 years he would have most probably had to change his body again. 2. While Orochimaru's experiment on Yamato WAS successful, he only became aware of that when he met Yamato again in Shippuden, which is once again way past the "expiry date" for using Kakashi's body.

It didnt happen in the Manga as you know. So considering this is a headcanon what if scenario we'd just have to make it so that it happens. Its up to us to decide how it happens. Also, Kakashi didnt unlock the Kamui earlier because KISHIMATO didnt unlock the kamui earlier lmao. The idea for Kamui was definitely not developed when Kishi was writing part one Naruto. Same with so many things that was later retconned into the story. Like why Tobirama not having FTG when he was summoned by Orochimaru to fight Hiruzen. Because at that point Kishimato did not have the idea for FTG or if he did he was working with his original intent of it being a jutsu developed by Minato. During part one era Kishimato said in an interview that Minato was the strongest shinobi dead (Hashirama and Madara was also dead at the time) But later again Madara and Hashirama got the mythical unrivaled legends treatment for Shippuden. Shit like this happens all the time in weekly manga. The auther does not have the entire story and all of its details in their head when they start working on it. Plus Orochimaru & Kabuto knows wayyy more about the Sharingan than Kakashi did at any point in the story. He could have easily figure it out the moment he got Kakashi's body. 2. I wasnt referring to Yamato. I was referring to Shin Uchiha and Danzo's Hashirama cell body mods. 3. If/when Kakashi's body starts to reject Orochimaru's parasitic soul he can just take the eye out and transfer it to his next host u know. We're talking about a story in which regular chunin level medical ninja like Rin can perform eye transplants lol. So Orochimaru and Kabuto would be able to do it in their sleep. 4. Also theres the option of turning Kakashi into a Edo Puppet after Orochimaru changes hosts. Either way unlimited Kamui is up for grabs for Orochimaru 5. Again, this is headcanon what if scenario. You forgot about ephemeral, the genjutsu itachi cast on Naruto without looking at him, he pointed a finger. If he caught minato in that, potentially minato opens his eyes and then itachi can cast Tsukuyomi, or hit him with Amaterasu while minato is immobilized. Even if minato breaks out of it in half a second, that’s enough time for Amaterasu to cast given itachi’s speed, if not he can just hit minato with some kind of jutsu in that time to kill or severely injure him if he can’t get in range for Amaterasu EDIT: it’s hard to say anything about Ephemeral though, we know next to nothing about the jutsu. We know nothing about cast time, speed, range, power, etc etc. As far as I know at least, there may be databook info on it that I’m not aware of. Minato has no Dojutsu and thus wouldn’t see the Chakra gathering in his finger to cast it, and as smart as minato his, I don’t think anyone would be expecting a genjutsu to be cast out of a finger point unless you saw Itachi cast it before.

Itachi said Fugaku was his worst possible match up while he was committing the uchiha massacre. Its possible if fugaku fought back against itachi he could have lost. Fugaku was touted to be just as strong as Minato. During the third great ninja world war. He was also declared as a run on sight to his enemies just like Minato. Well killer bee has faster reaction speed and far better taijutsu than itachi,the fastest attack itachi ever reacted to was kirin while bee clearly outclassed that when he reacted to flying thunder god, and minatos body flicker speed (as shown against Obito) by itself was shown to serverly outpace the perception of the sharingan when he body flickered from one side of the room that Naruto was born in to the other side right as Obito was a inch away from stabbing Naruto after he threw him up in the air at such speed that when Minato had already sped right past Obitos face,retrieved Naruto and was on the other side of the room Obito was still looking up at the ceiling. Even with a hashirama celled powered sharingan Obito was still outclassed by minatos speed. Further proof of this is Obito was aware that he would never be able to keep up and catch minato to the point where he resorted to setting trapes (like he did with the explosive tags on Naruto) in hopes of catching Minato. Bee taijutsu by itself could is already overwhelming for the sharingan. Bee and Minato are literally nightmares for the uchihas.

This encounter could go either way. Both of them have almost real chances and can win against each other, in my opinion I think that their encounter will be quite unpredictable. For me Itachi has slightly better chances of winning because of his calmness, intelligence and battle IQ experience. In my opinion Itachi is one of the most Unique and Influential characters from the series. The thing that people underestimate about Itachi fights/encounters, isn't just his power, (it's mainly writters or Kishimoto's fault for making Itachi seem or to look very powerful throughout the series) but how smart and intelligent he is during various situations, he never, ever underestimates his opponents because of his composure and his way of being, the level of thinking he's on honestly dwars most people in the series, with only people like Minato and Shikaku comparable with him. More precisly, Itachi isn't just any ordinary Shinobi also, he pretty much knows and he's also aware that all strong opponents have weaknesses (including himself), and he specializes in finding those "weaknesses" and exploiting them ("*Even the strongest of opponents always has a weakness*" - Uchiha Itachi) Itachi is very unique and authentic, especially in the factor of facing various encounters approach, his unpredictability in his way of fighting style approach it's his key factor in all of his encounters. Being blind or nearly blind has never slowed him down (especially when he's pretty much serious, but that's the point, he has never go all out against anyone during the series xD) Itachi it's that type of character who can exceed almost any expectations. (at least that's what we were shown in the anime by the creator Masashi Kishimoto). Moral of the story, never underestimate Itachi. He did more sick than most healthy ninjas do in their entire life. In my opinion No One should underestimate such an unpredictable Shinobi like Itachi, even Madara (I won't say that Itachi can beat him, but at least he will be pretty much able to put a decent fight that Madara will also be impressed in my opinion). Also how can they even consider that Totsuka Blade it's slow when no such speed feat has been shown through the Shippuden that state it that it is slow? All of you are assuming it to be slow it may not be the case... Its not that the sword is unavoidable but it clearly has a very long range and is a very long blade. If you look at the manga, Naruto, Bee and Itachi are all relatively small from Nagato's point of view, and you can see the Totsuka Blade extending all the way from Itachi, piercing through Nagato, and still managing to nearly pop out toward the reader out of the page. I would say its fast because Kabuto coudldn't even react to it, and its not like Nagato was completely immobile to the point that he couldn't sidestep the blade. Also, Kabuto controlling people from far away is never stated to inhibit the Edos' reaction speed in any way. Being controlled by someone thousands of miles away didn't stop the Third Raikage from dodging KCM Naruto's Rasenshuriken. And as for Orochimaru, the sword struck him in between syllables of a word during his speech. I think that that is pretty fast. Pair the Totsuka Blade with a good feint and its lethal because its ethereal, meaning it can pierce through any object. If the sword didn't live up to its reputation then Orochimaru wouldn't seek it out. People need to stop downplaying Itachi and denying the very clear speed feats of Totsuka. There is no room for interpretations here. The advantage of being an Uchiha, especially for Itachi and Madara, is that during an encounter against them, they always have a counter because of their unpredictable way of fighting factor, they don't run out of options or techniques, they almost always have a counter in their arsenal, even forbidden jutsus seems irrellevant against them, only a few Uchihas know a certain way to approach the situation with a certain and effective technique, that's why is hard/difficult to fight against them in my opinion. ☯️ 🤷🏻‍♂️

What many have forgotten is the very unpredictable factor of Itachi's fighting style: the way Itachi could beat Minato in my opinion is as follows: The Explosive Clone Tactic: Itachi's clone feints are legendary and unique. Having knowledge of Izanami doesn't prevent it from happening (it is the most sublte jutsu we've ever seen), because any kind of sensation they share can be set as the anchor and there is no way of knowing which. All Minato can do is to either avoid all kinds of physical contact, and he can't fight like that, or he can just try to refrain from repeating an action more than once which is near impossible with his one trick pony skillset. Here are the things that make Itachi so formidable. Tsukuyomi - A genjutsu so powerful that you literally can't escape it unless you have the same blood as Itachi, as stated by Itachi himself and proven later by Sasuke, or you're a jinchuriki. Jinchuriki are supposed to be immune to genjutsu but it hasn't been proven, but when Bee was fighting Edo Nagato and Itachi with Naruto, he said to watch out for Tsukuyomi explicitly. Literally 99% of all opponents fighting Itachi have no way of stopping Tsukuyomi. You could have the power to split the planet in half and it wouldn't matter. (Want to know why? - Kakashi pretty much state it in the actual anime and manga that Tsukuyomi it's such a dangerous Genjutsu Technique because it happen in a instant, even if you realize that you are trapped in the Tsukuyomi, it will be too late, because Itachi could approach you (or his Explosive Clone) during that time in the real world and he can finish you before you can even realize, - 72 hours in Tsukuyomi realm means 1 second or a couple of seconds in the real world. Tsukuyomi can't be broken, when used to it's fullest.) The Sword of Totsuka and Yata Mirror - The Susanoo itself is a near invincible defense but these two weapons take it to the next step. The Sword of Totsuka can seal "anything" if it even touches it. It's completely OP. It's hard to fight a guy that can seal you away if his sword even touches you. The Yata Mirror is even a bigger deal in my opinion. It doesn't block attacks, it's "negates" them. You could throw an Amaterasu covered Bijuu bomb at Itachi and the Yata mirror will negate it, making it so the Susanoo doesn't even need to take a blow. You could punch the Yata mirror and the force will completely be negated. His biggest strength of all: tactical intelligence - Itachi always outsmarts and plans for everything because the plot demands it. You're physically strong? Itachi is already 2 steps ahead of you knowing exactly what to do. You're extremely fast? Again, 2 steps. You're going to try and outlast Itachi in a fight? Good luck. To add to this, some of the 3 most powerful techniques in the verse are due to his intelligence and planning ability; Izanami, Izanagi, and Kotoamatsukami. Izanami - A forbbiden genjutsu technique that allows you to alter someone's destiny. Impossible to break out of even if you know you're in a genjutsu without complying with the users set destiny for you. Even someone like Bee, a perfect Jinchuriki, can't escape Izanami unless he does what Itachi wants him to. Izanagi - You somehow gained an advantage over Itachi? He makes it so that advantage never happened. Kotoamatsukami - Though Shisui's technique, Itachi has his eye which effectively makes it his weapon. A genjutsu so powerful that the person it's cast on doesn't even know they're under a genjutsu. Like the Tsukuyomi, completely OP. To add to all of this, Itachi is pretty good/exceptional at hand to hand combat, is great with shuriken, is extremely fast, is great with regular fire techniques, is slippery and unpredictable, and has the extremely dangerous and fast Genjutsu style of fighting approach that can caught you off guard almost at any time, even If the opposite opponent is an Uchiha. With all of these things considered you've got one dangerous ninja. This is why Kishimoto basically had to give him a handicap: Naruto AIDS.🤷‍♂️

Great video!....I think under the circumstances Itachi would be smart enough to realise that against someone like Minato his susanoo is a liability rather than a benefit and would most likely ditch it. While Minato is the fastest ninja, I bet itachi with his sharingan can keep up with him. His fighting speed should be almost at A's and MS sasuke's level, still he would most likely not be able to beat Minato. TLDR: Itachi has a much better chance if he doesn't use his susanoo.

Sharingan can't foresee instantaneous teleportations. Minato isn't traveling at light speed or anything, he is teleporting instantaneously to the location. That's why Obito couldn't react to Minato and was bodied almost instantly despite having a Sharingan. Without the Susano it's an quick one tap from Minato tbh.

Yee the Sharingan is verry good indeed to read movements but teleportation jiutsu is it weakness. As seen by the second Hokage killing Madaras younger brother with it. There is no read with teleportation it’s instant and therefor no counter to it if you don’t know where the teleporter will teleport to. And if you try to counter it by some miracle he can just counter your counter with the teleport. The attack after is not instant but it carry’s the momentum before the teleport. As the second Hokage slices Madaras younger brother. So not only do you have to predict cuz reaction is nearly impossible but you also have to consider what move the teleporter is doing. The only way someone with that jiutsu is loosing is if the opponent is so much stronger and faster that it negates your teleport. The only thing Minato lacked was a better finishing jiutsu against the strongest of opponents but even then he can still be very useful in almost all circumstances as seen in the war arc.

Maybe minato can spam flying raijin because its instant teleportation and he doesn't have to actually move to move so he can fuel it with nature chakra. He's a sage so he knows how to gather nature chakra, he doesn't have to be a be a perfect sage to achieve this. Then the question is can you use raw nature chakra for a technique? If so using a technique that takes a mass amounts of chakra but doesn't require you to move but moves you is incredibly powerful. Similar to hashirama riding his wood style creations. Could you theoretically immediately channel nature chakra into a technique as you gather it, you need to balance it with your own in order to enter sage mode but if you can burn it as fast as you take it in could be part of why minato believes himself to be an imperfect sage until his chakra pool is doubled with kurama.

I feel like he might be overlooking the fact that minato has sage mode but there was a reason why he usually doesn't use it he gets to have it for a very limited time and if he attacks anyting he loses it immediately. want to point out here, that in hindsight, that whole talk about reaper death seal actually elevates just how boss Hiruzen was despite his old age, considering he pulled out two souls of the first and second hokage, which was no mean feat AND the arms of a full power orochimaru...which again, aint anything to scoff at. The fact hiruzen was the sole reason there was no war despite the loss of minato... just further proves just what a beast Hiruzen was in his old age, not to mention how insanely good he would have been in his prime

I think assuming just because Naruto used shadow clones to give him access to significantly more sage mode chakra that this means Minato would do the same is kind of an oversight. Naruto used shadow clones to overcome his limitations. Minato didn't have the same problem, so while he could be a perfect sage, it was much more limited in duration than Naruto's. And it being more limited would mean he couldn't spend the entire fight using the perfect sage mode senses, which would mean he would either have to risk eye contact, or put himself at a serious defensive disadvantage to avoid tsukuyomi, which would be a weakness Itachi would be able to exploit. And I'm not saying this means Itachi wins. But it would re contextualize some of the major fight elements. Sure, Minato could probably figure out the shadow clone trick after watching his son do it, but we never saw him attempt anything like it earlier in the series. Just like how Kakashi and Minato failed to add chakra natures to the rasengan while Naruto figured it out. And if we're letting Minato use ideas his son had, then at that point it's a 4th war edo Minato vs edo Itachi battle, which would be a whole different set of circumstances. Just my take anyway.

If Minato was never in a situation where he felt like he had to develop a way to overcome that limitation, why would we assume he would immediately jump to Naruto's solution to a problem he never felt he had? It's something he would probably figure out over time if he had a longer life, or would possibly develop because of a fight like this after the fact. But given he was relatively young when he died I think it's a bit of a jump in logic just to assume he could to it on the spot just because his old mentor and his essentially chakraly disabled son figured it out.

Minato has an answer to Itachi’s susanno actually. He could teleport it away. It’s not complete, gara pulled madara out of his own susanno (which we didn’t see it follow him either, it also wasn’t in its complete state at that time either.) Susanno is still a physical object. If Minato can yeet a beast bomb, he can yeet a susanno. Would be pretty funny too, I don’t think Itachi would even expect that one.

Im pretty sure you can get a good estimate on non sick Itachi by calculating him at his war arc edo feats plus an additional 20% since those edo's were at only 80% strength. The only mystery would be his amount of chakra. Since edo's have unlimited.

Itachi is one of the very few characters to actually be stronger in his Edo form overall. The Totsuka Blade and the Yata Mirror are NOT nerfed by Edo Tensei, neither is Amaterasu. And the fact he can use his MS abilities endlessly in his Edo form is more than enough to offset the 20% nerfs on his basic Ninjutsu, Tsukuyomi and base Susano'o.

Minato carves out a large piece of the the ground that he and Itachi are on then warps it into the air, shatters it into pieces, placing marks on different pieces of rubble as it falls, now he can attack from anywhere in the air in that time frame and even when the pieces are on the ground itachi has to walk by them or overtop of them. Now its a minefield for Minato to pop inside the susanoo and one shot him.
