Happened to me recently too. I had the G340S as well and the part where the cord goes into the jack itself was starting to fray and then the sound crapped out due to a loose wire issue. Thankfully Wal Mart had the HS50 for 40 bucks so I grabbed that and have been loving it since.

I've had a pair of these for 6 months now and they are holding up fantastic, even after being stepped on. They sound really good for the price your paying, especially if you have an amp or sound card. I listen to music at 24 bit/ 84000Hz and game at 16 bit 48000Hz. The mic sounds Great and I like the fact you can disconnect the mic if needed. * People have been complaining about "echo" in the mic. If your using this for PC gaming there is a fix. in WIDOWS 10, Right click the Speaker in task tray (bottom right of desktop)--> Sounds--> goto recording tab--> Right Click Microphone--> Right click Properties--> Enhancements tab --> make sure "Disable all sound effects'' box is checked.

The only thing I have noticed with them is: I have normal tucked back ears, yet my ears still touch the cover of the drivers. This means after some time, you may feel some irritation if you're are a bit more out there. Everything else is amazing.

IMPORTANT INFO FOR GAMERS I have had this headset for over a week and these are my thoughts: Pros: 1 premium build quality, they feel sturdy and durable. 2 decent detachable mic for the price 3 compatible with PC, Xbox one and PS4 (I use them with a PS4) 4 excellent sound quality, (I play balck ops 4 and Apex legends and I can detect enemies quite easily by their foot steps) Cons: 1 shallow ear pads covered by leather-looking plastic that isolates heat and makes my ears uncomfortably warm after an hour of gameplay 2 clamping force is too uncomfortable after an hour of gameplay so I have to take them off between matches 3 a little bit too bassy. Explosions or similar sounds can obscure details. Conclusion: great for the price but if you are an online FPS player like me and you spend +5 hours playing, just look for a bigger headset with ear pads that allow your skin to breath.

I bought these last night. I wasn't sure if I made an investment or a screwed up. As soon as I plugged these in and turned music on, I was absolutely blown away!! My friend loaned me a pair of turtle beach headset and it didn't have as much bass and overall quality in sound. The Mic is so clear, a little too much treble, but it's clear and it kills white noise. Even with my computer fan and window unit on high, I could hear ONLY my voice.

The line of Hyper X headphones in my opinion are over rated. I mean, doesn't anyone notice the microphone difference of those compared to the HS50? It's freakin night and day! The kingstons are nasally and overly compressed just for the noise pickup reduction.

True, i own a Hyper X headset(Cloud core) and the mic quality is really terrible. It's just too quiet, i had to boost the mic gain to 10+db and turn on noise suppression(to reduce the static noise). tbh if they had better mic quality i would recommend Hyper X all the time.

Ditrogen keep in mind issues with your receiver may cause those sound issues. I use my HyperXs with a simple sound card and the mic is amazing. User error sells some products short.

First of all, arctis 3 is pretty much same thing as arctis 5 except its on jack (better sound quality) and it doesnt have led lights, so from steelseries headsets you should get arctis 3. But what about HS50? Simply, HS50 is bettet imo. I hope i helped somehow

I've also found that these sound great with movies, especially if you have Dolby Atmos for headphones. I fired up my blu ray copy of Hacksaw Ridge and watched the battle scene and I was blown away!

I've had the Cloud Alpha since black Friday. Great sound but for big head/big ears/big brain (7 3/4 hat size) it can be uncomfortable. The opening in the ear cups is tiny, I hate the feeling of any part of the cup touching my ear. I like everything else about them except that I am constantly adjusting them and trying to convince myself that they aren't uncomfortable. Got the HS50 last night since in your review here you said they might even exceed the Alphas. Straight out of the box I noticed higher clamping force and more rigid overall. The opening in the ear cup is bigger like I wanted, but the padding on the ears isn't as good. The Alphas have awesome memory foam. People talked about the drivers touching their ears on the Cloud Alpha until HyperX revised the pads and made them thicker. On the HS50 the pads aren't thick and it's pretty soft foam, so it compresses and I can just start to feel the driver on my ears. Despite the less plush pads, my ears still are more comfortable in these than being squashed in the Alpha. Worst part, the top headband on the HS50 is pretty awful. Visually you expect a nice soft headband with that stitching design, but there's almost no pad there by comparison. Squeezing it in-hand it feels like you've got the outer stitched layer and maybe 1/4 inch of very weak foam. You can easily feel the hard part of the inner headband. So the HS50 makes my ears more comfortable but now the top of my head hurts worse. The HS50 is a lot more low profile in terms of the cans overall, compared to the Alpha and also the huge Razer Kraken that I'm used to using. The HS50 is the pair that could pass for normal headphones. Cheaper cord on the HS50 that doesn't detach, the braided one on the Alpha is great. HS50 controls on the earcup is a positive IMO and easier to locate than in-line controls. HS50 really does seem to have a similar sound profile but even more bass. I thought maybe it would be nowhere close to sounding as good as the Alpha but yeah, to my ear it's getting into splitting-hair territory where it's hard to point out a huge difference. Bass in the Alpha is just a step lower and smoother, HS50 is to the point where any more would be silly. No clear winner here. I went and got the HS50 hoping to help make up my mind about the Alphas. It does seem like for less money I could have a similar sound profile with even a little extra bass. I got more ear room, but now the headband hurts. The build quality difference is noticeable. You can see the Alphas being worth 100 and when you unbox the HS50 you can see why it's 50 dollars. Ultimately my stack of headsets is growing and I'm just more confused lol. Today I bought a pair of HS 60’s for my PS4 and let me say that they’re amazing ! The reason, was that they were on sale in my local Best Buy for $40, while the HS 50’s were regular price. I have a pair of GSP 300’s and I like my 60’s a little better

ive had hs50 for 6 mouths now and they are lush. sound better than my turtle beach black ops 2 tango's witch is madness for £50 or £60 can't go wrong well happy with them :)

My old headset that I brought in 2016 recently had it's mic broke, it was like already broken but still functioning. Great video not sure if I'm going to get this headset but I think I may, the microphone is like I can't explain it but the mic is like quiet. My old headset the afterglow agu.50 is like $25-35 in australia and the mic is sooo good!!! this Corsair headset still looks great for $69

How much better are these than the Cougar Phontum? Because I got said headset just a couple of days ago (availed by how many reviewers praised it for its sound quality and affordability in comparison to similar options, including a review of yours) and I only found out about the Corsair HS50 today. So far I'm content with what I got, but if the Corsair really is a better choice then I'd probably consider returning the Phontum just to go through the hurdle of having to order the Corsair online (because no availability within my city). It's just that I would consider such move to be a bet, and I'd end up heartbroken if I ended up with a product that doesn't upgrade things that much more than what I already have, especially seeing as how a number of users have reported issues with the Corsair's mic -- namely, certain output audio filtering/echoing on the mic's audio input. That was already an annoying issue I had with my previous headset (Cougar Megara), which was already really, really good and had an excellent mic quality for a headset despite such issue. I find the Phontum's mic to be just a little less good than the Megara's, but the sound issue is no longer a problem with these whatsoever.

Thanks so much. I actually prefer the Corsair’s sound but the Sennheiser’s mic. You can’t go wrong with either to be honest. I definitely want to get my hands on the GSP 600

it's probably the settings of the app you are using, ex: if u are using discord, just go to User Settings/Voice & Video, then put your Input volume on MAX.

Just a heads up to everyone! Bought this headset from bestbuy and I’m going to return it because it is not very comfortable! After an hour or two of playing the top band puts an uncomfortable amount of pressure on top of your head, and the ear cups will start to bother your ears after a while because they get too hot and they are not quite deep enough

How wide is the earcup? I have ultra sensitive ears so even touching the sides in any way is bad. Also how heavy are they? I always thought my hyper x cloud 2 were too heavy. Ya I'm picky lol. But if these were lighter and super comfortable I may want some new headpnones. I have steelseries 650's and I had to like make earpad mods to make the earcups deeper and even with that my ears touch the sides and its really annoying lol... I'm 2 broke to really upgrade but 50 bucks is pretty doable even for me lol. Nice vids keep them up.

Airsoftwarrior345 They go completely over my ears and don't touch. I can wear them for hours without any discomfort. They are fairly heavy, but it doesn't bother me at all. They really are very nice to be honest.

The mic's problem is that it picks up air if it's somewhere close to your mouth, but aside from that it's a very good headphones

Great sound quality. So loose it's uncomfortable for anything but straight-back gaming, and top-heavy. The Mic makes storage impossible, must remove the Mic or use large box or draw to store them, if you have a cat or dog that bites cords, you have to store them. The ear pads are not perfectly comfortable. The RIG 400 do a better job for comfort. But the audio quality,, oh my gosh it's ideal. Very nice. Extremely wide and airy, sounds like surround sound. Good to compare to 125 dollar audio technica headphones. The bass goes deep, well down to 20 htz.

chose the steelseries arctis 3 over these, they feel more comfortable, you might have a better time hearing where sound is happening in the HS50 but i like the quality more in the arctis.
