From Carencro Louisiana!! You see the Carencro water tower in the video. Marc is the man! ♥️♥️ This was shot along the bayous of south Louisiana, along and around I-10, some shots look like the Atchafalaya swamp that runs for miles along I-10. Nothing around there but alligators, snapping turtles, all manner of swamp creatures. It’s a wilderness unlike any other. The weather unfortunately much of the time is not the best because of the heat and humidity. And the mosquitoes ...! But it is beautiful and some of the best food you’ll ever eat. Great people too. The vest-like instrument you noticed mimics the sound of an old fashioned washboard, yes, used to wash clothes!! It’s called a vest frottier and is used often along with other simple household items (spoons etc...) in Zydeco music. This isn’t Zydeco but is does have that influence, along with Blues, soul, rock. Zydeco originated in south Louisiana right where Marc is from. And I think this was released in the 90’s. Check out more of his music. He’s covered so many old R&B and soul hits. I still listen to his first album, Carencro, often. IMO, Home has the heaviest rock influence of all his music. Great review! ♥️♥️

Was living in Metairie when this came out. It was 🔥. Everything you said is absolute 💯 & naively thought (until recently) that Marc Broussard was a household name. Now 20-yrs later I LOVE reintroducing Carencro to GenZ to witness their minds getting blown. #BayouBlues #SwampRock

Have loved Marc Broussard since 2006. Have seen him in concert several times, he is amazing each time. Very good at relating to the audience. Although there are so many songs that are great he does one of my very favorite is The Beauty of Who You Are. He also does a couple of remakes Georgia is one plus Etta James, Sunday Kind of Love which is almost too good to listen to. Seriously gorgeous. Plus Do Right Woman. Oh Lord ... so many. He has new music coming out soon too.

I heard this on the 'radio' a couple times a few years ago while in Gulfport, MS. he's a local artist maybe from Louisiana. I've seen the CARENCO water tank before - yeah the guy has an awesome voice, great song.. I actually try to play it on Fridays when I'm headed home from being "on the road" all week.. Nice review.. great song (marc).. keep pluggin away

Marc Broussard is another one of my favorite artists. He has done some incredible covers from other artists that are pretty difficult to cover such as Ottis Redding, Solomon Burke and Percy Sledge, just to name a few. Here's another song he covered "Marc Broussard - These Arms Of Mine (Ottis Redding Cover)" this is a live performance, I believe during the start of the pandemic. He's definitely just as good live as he is in the studio versions. And he crosses genres also, which also shows just how talented and diverse he can be. As you can see, I'm a fan...hehehe

Was born in Lake Charles, La then moved to Texas. The best of both worlds! You are witnessing a taste of Cajun influenced music. From the Southern States of Louisiana and Mississippi. You’ve yet to experience “traditional Cajun music” which, Mark’s Daddy is known for. If interested, check out my late uncle - Doug Kershaw - Louisiana Man. Marc here is picking up a lot of the cajun sounds but more of the soul, slide acoustic guitar and church organ, missing the cajun fiddle and accordion. Lastly, there is Zadico. Which is a very fast-paced music and repetitious. And Yes, we always enjoy sitting outside listening to music. Check out raw footage of Marc singing Otis Reddings - These Arms of Mine (on his back deck)

Definitely looks like Louisiana to me ,as I was born and raised there. I hadn't heard this one before, it sounds like bayou music to me. You would like Mary Chappin Carpenter's Down at the twist and shout a cajun influenced song. It will have you tapping your toes for sure. She was enamored with cajun music when she heard it which influenced her song,

Louisiana is consistently (along with neighbor Mississippi) one of the poorest states in the U.S. so when you see people wearing "outdated" duds, it's not always by choice but necessity.

I've never heard this guy before! That voice! I agree more Soul, Blues, and R&B rather than country. I get a vibe of Elvis in his voice, and perhaps a bit of a male Amy Winehouse and John Fogerty from Creedence Clearwater Revival. I would love to hear more! Judging by the scenery I'd guess Louisiana, Bayou Country. Plus, I briefly looked him up his sound and it's referred to as Bayou Soul.

This is from South Louisiana - the Mike marker 112 is is off I-12 (interstate) on the way to New Orleans. The long bridge over the swamp is I-10 over the Achafalaya River/swamp - (pronounced Acha - fal- i-a a Native American name) going towards Lafayette which takes you to Carencro (karen- crow) which is where Marc Broussard (Brew-sard) is from. He is an Acadian (Cajun) and his father is a famous local musician. Though he is Cajun, this is not Cajun music. Though the “washboard” is a common instrument in Cajun music. This is more like swamp pop. It’s a thing - Google it. Louisiana has a strong Catholic background from the French and Spanish settlers so the end of the video is probably his immediate family - lots of kids😉 You may have heard a version of this song on American Idol when Laine Hardy sang it. Laine is also from South Louisiana from the other side of the Mississippi River. Laine has a soulful raspy voice and sings this well.
