This was the first song I ever heard from Marc Broussard. Man. That big voice and swampy feel. It's irresistible. He has matured into one of the best soul singers I've ever heard! Just rediscovered him lately and I'm blown away.

Marc you are amazing! Keep writing more music like this, with lots of soul. I'm a native New Yorker who now lives in Los Angeles and this music soothes my soul, so unique. Nice to see a "white boy" with soul in this day and age. We love all your stuff, but I must admit this is my favorite, keep going. We have kids your age, but your music inspires us that the younger generation is not totally lost to commercialism. Keep on going!!!!!!!!

I scrolled and scrolled for lyrics, but surprisingly nobody has posted them yet, so here: "Rolling down the road, going nowhere, Guitar packed in a trunk Somewhere around mile marker 1-12, Papa started hummin' the funk I gotta jones in my bones before they know, We were singing this melody Stop the car pulled out the guitar, Halfway to New Orleans Said take me home Take me home Could feel the sun about to rise, When I realized we had nothing to fear It's just me and my daddy and a kid named Cope, Making music that nobody would hear And then the sun let up and it split the night, Spillin' over our jubilee Ten thousand cars by the side of the road, Groovin' far as the eye can see Said take me home Take me home Said take me home Said take me home This Greyhound is delta bound mama, Baby boy finally found, Said this Greyhound is delta bound mama, Baby boy done finally found his way home Said take me home Here we go, Hot damn you should have felt the groove, Like I was swimming in a sea of soul The sun was rising and the day was hot, And we was all about to lose control My daddy turned his face up towards the sky, And I knew that there was nothing to lose I felt the crowd breathe in and I closed my eyes, And we disappeared into the groove Said take me home Said take me home Take me home Said take me home Straight from the water Straight from the water, children Straight from the water Straight from the water, children Straight from the water Straight from the water, children Straight from the water You don't know nothin' about this Take me home Said take me home Said take me home Said take me home Said take me home Said take me home Said take me home take me home Said take me home Said take me home........

I first heard this song sung by a college a'cappella group back 8 years ago. I used it as a singing and breathing exercise to regain my lung and O2 strength and levels and my voice after being in a medically induced coma for a week. Been trying to figure out who sang it originally ever since. One of the reaction channels I watch just reacted to it recently solving my nearly decade long search. Great song and incredible voice.

My mom used to play this every time we took the journey from VA to WV to visit our Family etc.. because it's what we always collectively referred to as "home", now as an adult "home" is an entirely different place but this song still rings true to my heart and soul and makes me yearn for those times as child when I would hear this on the journey and get excited to see the family I barely ever got to see. This song truly is amazing, and connects with more than just your mind or ears.

My wife turned me on to Marc, you can here the that Louisiana Blues, that down home Soul of the South in his voice. He will be around (& has been around for well over a decade) a long long time. This man must come from a family with a strong Southern Rock& Blues background. Moved him to the top of my playlist both here and Apple Music.
