I enjoyed logging some 600-plus hours in the OV-10 while instructing in the 549th TASTG (1983-1986). The A-model was a fine airplane with excellent visibility, good fuel endurance, and a good ejection seat if things got out of hand. Thank you for providing the video.

As a skid kid with HMLA-369, MAG-39 at Camp Pendleton, it was always a treat to see these awesome birds from VMO-2 come in to the break and peel off to land. I was lucky enough to meet LtCol Acree and CWO-4 Hunter before the Gulf War where they were shot down. Great Marine aviators.

Such a pretty bird - we have them in our area working for CalFire as the tactical controller on wildfires - in fact they were working yesterday on the AERO Fire near Copperopolis that went from 50 acres to 5,000 acres in just hours.

Yup, that fire brought out a lot of smoke down into the valley. Lot's of Cal Fire activity in and out of the area. I was tracking all the activity on Flightradar24.

The plane should of never been retired. A turboprop is always better than some high tech jet for recon as they fly slow enough and have 2 sets of eyes. The air force always wants whatever is new regardless of whats logical. Its ironic that some 20 years after retirement they were brought back and overhauled and the Broncos were used in the FAC role in Afghanistan. Its the same thing with retiring the A-10. its ridiculous. There seems to be a very big trend to retire something with no replacement to take its place. Or a replacement that is inferior. The military needs an overhaul in leadership. BTW, I was a kid and often stayed with my sister in the mid 80's at Camp Pendleton and got to see the Marine OV-10Ds in action quite often. I even once saw them drop Recon Marines out of the back at an air show back then. This plane is the best at what it does back in Vietnam and even today. Fact
