Right after the First Gulf War, an aerial display of the jets used was at an airshow in Titusville, Florida. My daughters, some neighborhood kids, and I were sitting on the grass by the tarmac, never expecting them to pass within a 100', just off the ground. The noise, rush of air, and speed were incredible. I would have waved to the pilots but couldn't take my hands off my ears. All the kids agreed it was their best day. What an airshow!

I lived in Germany near Rammstein as a kid, and loved seeing F-4's and A-10's flying low like that frequently. It's always so amazing how much bigger they are than you'd think, and feeling the pressure as they go by. Being a fighter pilot must be the most exhilarating job on the planet.

My dad was stationed in Germany during the late 70s to the early 80s as a flight simulator technician. Which meant that if the Air Force wasn't using the simulator, my brother and I could. At the time the base had F-15Es. What an awesome piece of machinery. I miss seeing them every day.
@kenwayne77094 ай бұрын
F-15Es were never stationed in Germany. In Fact - the E Model only entered service starting in 1988. Bitburg AB, Germany had the F-15 C/D Model but they transferred to Spangdalem AB, Germany in 1994. You may be thinking of the F-15C/D model as they would have no need for the E model Sim in Germany. Spent 4 years with the Vipers out of Ramstein AB from 97-90 and never saw an F-15E stationed in Germany. F-15C/Ds, A-10s, F-4s, F-16 C/D, C-130s, and SAMM aircraft for DVs are all I remember being in country.

@@kenwayne7709I thought planes from Bitburg were sold to Saudi Arabia, at end of gulf war 1? Combined arm wings, and length of the runway were the reasons to keep spangdahlem (sp?). Years back, I was on the boardwalk in NJ, I heard a very distinctive engine sound in the distance. I knew it was a four-engine bomber but wasn't aware of any air shows in the area. And there it was. The B24 (Witchcraft) made a pass over head. I wanted to reach up and hug that plane. It was one of my first models I ever built when I kid. Then another gift, heard that majestic merlin engine in the distance. Sure, enough glistening in the sun, a P51 made a low-level pass over the ocean. When I got home, found out Collings Foundation was holding an event. Went the next day. Got some really nice video of the aircraft, especially the B17, before crashed a few years back. Great Video, the F15's are awesome, heard they upgraded some so they can keep flying and not be obsolete.

Accidentally stumbled across this video and have to say it’s fantastic and has me feeling very nostalgic thinking back on my RAF days. Your camera work is top notch 👌

As usual Dafydd, stunning scenery, stunning action and stills pics, great work. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is envious of the pilots and yourself for being part of a fantastic display of airmanship and you filming the action.

Well. I have to say. I was really impressed with the F-35. That thing was way more maneuverable than I thought it would be. Actually an agile aircraft.
