Today, let’s explore some mind-blowing Type IV Civilizations from sci-fi. If you’re not familiar with what a “Type IV” civilisation is, it’s a civilisation that has progressed to the point where they can harness the energy of an entire universe, as per the Kardashev Scale.
Thanks for watching and don't forget to check out my sci-fi books below.

DELPHINE DESCENDS
After her family is killed and her homeworld occupied, young Kathreen Martin is sent to the distant world of Furoris for re-education. She will live the rest of her life as a serf - to be bought and sold as a commodity of the Imperial Network.
When her only chance of escape is ruined, a chance mistaken identity offers her a new life as the orphaned daughter of a First-Citizen Senator and heiress to a vast fortune.
She vows to claw her way into power to sit among the worlds’ elite. Then, with her own hands, she will reap bloody vengeance on them all.
But to beat them, she must play their game. And she must play it better than them all.
BLACK MILK
Prometheus has the chance to bring his wife back from the dead, but doing so will mean the destruction of Earth.
Spanning time, planets and dimensions, Black Milk draws to a climactic point in a post-apocalyptic future, where humanity, stranded with no planet to call home, fights to survive against a post-human digital entity that pursues them through the depths of space.
Five lives separated by aeons are inextricably linked by Prometheus’s actions:
Ystil.3 is an AI unit sent back in time from the distant future to investigate Prometheus’s discovery...
The mysterious Lydia has devoted her life to finding a planet that the last remaining humans can call home…
Tom Jones (he’s a HUGE fan!) is an AI trapped inside a digital subspace, lost and desperate to find his way back to his beloved in real-time…
Dr Norma Stanwyck is a neuroscientist from 24th Century Earth whose personal choices ripple throughout time...
Prometheus must learn the necessity of death or the entire universe will be swallowed by his grief.

The big problem with civs above Type II is that really they're just a bunch of Type IIs. Suppose the humans figure out FTL and colonize 100 star systems and build dyson swarms around each of them. Unless there's some way to merge the energy from each of those to one place, that's just 100 separate Type IIs.

The Time Lords. Yes, really. "Your race hasn't even reached Type 1 on the Kardashev scale. It doesn't control the resources of this one planet, let alone a solar system or a galaxy. The Time Lords were the Type 4 civilization. We had no equals. We controlled the fundamental forces of the entire universe. Nothing could communicate with us on our level. Most races pray to lesser beings than the Time Lords." - Time Lord Marnal, Doctor Who: The Gallifrey Chronicles Not that it did them much good.

Xeele were the best for me, exactly because (in the part I read at least, I'm gulty of not reading the whole cycle) we only looked at their civilisation from the outside, only guessed their capabilities. Theye were the more threatening the less we knew about them. I had an impression that a lot of our understanding of their technologies came from mere observation of the effects of their actions. Being in the dark got redefined

I would like for someone to use the Kardashev scale to measure the various civilizations from Lovecraft's works.
@rpscorp9457
@rpscorp9457 2 ай бұрын
it would be hard to apply because nothings really explained well just pulling from Lovecraft...Even Derleth doesnt really go into detail. Most of them would be on the level of the Q.

I am not a great fan of efforts to depict Type IV (ot Type III, for that matter) civilizations. Why? Because we are, by definition, incapable of comprehending such beings. We can only depict ourselves with some added magical handwaving, mush as ancient Greeks imagined their pantheon. That said, if approached with a bit humility, the idea of existence of such civilizations can result in some brilliant works, like Strugatsky brothers' _Пикник на обочине_ ( _Roadside Picnic_ ) where we explore accidental remnants of alien (probably merely Type II or a bit more) visit, or Sagan's _Contact,_ where we were told that our Universe is a construct of other, shall we say, meta-beings.

It's been decades since I read them but I always got the feeling the xeele were the offspring of the humans thrown back to the early universe. Making humanities war or harsement of the xeele even more pointless than it was.
