You definitely caught what they are going for, your eyes tell you cutesy pop but your ears hear awesome hard rock riffs and vocals. They call it "the gap" and it absolutely hooks you. This band made me love music again and made me believe hard rock isn't dead, it was just reborn in Japan. Check out how amazing they are live with "Hate?" Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. While they don't class themselves as a metal band, they don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog mayhem to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and world class musicians to boot. They are currently into their 12th year with the original line up. And they are the best live band I have ever witnessed! Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. Great reaction! It’s always so satisfying to watch someone encounter the Maids for the first time, but it’s especially nice when they’re able to express what they’re hearing and feeling so well. “Warning” is a solid first video to react to because it’s a mind-blowing introduction to the band, but it’s not anywhere near peak Band-Maid, so there’s plenty of room to keep having your mind blown, especially by the live videos. Everybody tends to recommend “Hate?” and “Domination” live, but I’d suggest watching “Freedom” and “Play” first before “Domination” and finally “Hate?” That’s a journey that’s likely to keep widening your eyes all the way up. (“Play” and “Domination” are consecutive songs from the same concert, too, which gives you an inkling of how their shows flow.)

They do tour the US. Very much worth seeing live, astonishingly good live band. You've seen Babymetal so you know how good Japanese bands are live. Band-Maid were here in 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023. They haven't announced any overseas plans yet for 2025. They might do Europe which they haven't done since 2019. The cafes are just "maid cafes". I think most of them don't serve alcohol. They serve Japanese dishes like gyoza, omurice, katsu curry, and deserts and coffee drinks. There is an Arcadia Maid Cafe in Arcadia, California (LA area) based on Japanese maid cafes.

Roger! YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!! D-Day, the more song from Band-Maid you hear, you will realize they are one of the best hard rock band around, and they're very versatile. The defy any genre pigeon-hole because they use them all in their music. Hell, they have even used rap and hip-hop in their songs. Don't believe me, react to "Influencer", the official music video. If you like your rock with a Motorhead vibe, check out "Moratorium", the official live video or "Clang", the official live video. "Manners/Black Hole" a two-fer live video, shows their versatility. "Manners" is a pure funk groove and then "Black Hole" is a frenetic speed punk song with a beat of 220 BPM's. It'll leave you sweating. Band-Maid has a song catalog of over 140 songs from the dozen years together intact, every one of them good and many of them great!

They are probably the best live band I've seen in a very long time. In general, Japan knows how to do live performances in a way no other country can match. I had the pleasure of seeing Band-Maid in Chicago in 2022 and in St. Louis last year. I also caught Loudness and BABYMETAL in St. Louis last year, and will see Hanabie here in March, so Japan is taking over America, and I'm here for it! Now I just need to see LOVEBITES and Nemophila, both of whom did recent US tours, but I missed them. I recommend all of those bands, if you aren't already familiar, in addition to more Band-Maid.

Thanks for checking out the maids, D-Day. One thing you should know is that their music is so diverse that it literally takes about 20 songs before you really have a handle on just how incredible they are. They describe themselves as hard rock, but they'll constantly switch it up on you. This song is one of their more straight ahead metal (ish) songs, but they can do hard rock, ballads, power ballads, super hard prog metal and everything else you can think of. Folks like to say they are their own genre. Repeating themes are virtuosity, uplifting lyrics and music, combining catchy choruses with hard, complex verses, not adhering to normal music structure and basically keeping you on your toes - you never know where they're going to go next in a song. This one is straightforward for them like I said. So - it'll take a while to get to know them but I promise you you won't regret it if you keep going with them. Cheers!

We like to say the Maids are their own genre. They are in fact on the (back) cover of the Japanese Rolling Stone magazine this month. They have a goal of (peaceful) World Domination through music; and are on their way. They’ve toured Europe and North America before; they’ve stayed in Japan for 2024, but expect them to make a tour stop near you in 2025! As for more songs; 😂. Influencer is not the way to be indoctrinated to the great music these girls put out consistently , it is a very odd song for Bandmaid and might turn you away from them, Official music vids like Rinne, Non Fiction Days, Blooming and Daydreaming are a better introduction and Official live vid like Hate, Moratorium, Turn Me On and Puzzle are just epic Bandmaid songs and the great thing is they do not block any vids

Let me start by saying that I hate their music videos with all the irrelevant content and cuts that don't let you see anybody actually play. This band is ALWAYS 100% better with the official live cut. Never an exception. Strongly suggest the songs, Domination, Manners with Black Hole, Daydreaming, Freedom, Play and Hate ALL LIVE.
