Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog mayhem to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and world class musicians to boot. They are currently into their 12th year with the original line up. And they are the best live band I have ever witnessed! Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. Her idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). They take the maid café concept literally. They call their concerts "servings" and their fans "Masters and Princesses". Oh, and Miku is an 810 year old small pigeon. Welcome to the pigeon hole Po!

You go in knowing they’re all females and they wear maid outfits so, even the most open-minded of us thinks okay, they’ll be like soft rock, or J-pop, something like that. Nope! What they are is an amazing band that I put alongside the best rock bands ever. Once you hear the depth, and quality, of their catalog, and see how great they are live, you might agree with me. That was an excellent reaction. I loved your shock at the first notes (you’re not the only one) and your intelligent analysis of this fabulous instrumental. You are at the beginning of a fantastic journey with Band-Maid and you haven’t seen a live video of them yet. They are unbelievable live! I’m old in the tooth now and have followed a lot of the greatest rock bands in history, but I can’t recall being as obsessed with anyone as I am with these incredibly talented ladies. Just wait until you hear Saiki sing!

My friend...check them live and get shocked ! They are an amazing force of nature with a precision, dynamics and flow never or very, very rare seen in rock scene. Pick any song live, yes, any. And the singer ( Saiki ) ? OMG ! At the end of a concert with these girls you can cross the street without checking the traffic, not knowing your name, where you are, if you are a man or a woman...hahaha in total trance ( joking but true ). Band-Maid is amazing. Kanami was recently honored with her own signature guitar by Paul Reed Smith personally. 1st Japanese player so honored. The guitars sold out in 48 hours!

@Rabbi_Rabbs There is an Orianthi PRS private stock signature model (Blooming Lotus Glow) from 2022. There are a few for sale on secondary market for approximately 10k!

​@@stanleyday7293 Good spot! However, look at those secondary sellers closely. It is my understanding that the PRS Private Stock Orianthi Limited Edition is not a signature guitar. Kanami also had a PRS Private Stock edition issued prior to her receiving a signature model. I'm guessing you cited Reverb, which does label the guitar as a signature model. Now, let's compare that same model on Reverb's competitors' websites. Sweetwater, American Musical, and Brian's Guitars each show that same model, with the exact same headstock, but label it only as a Private Stock edition, with no mention of a signature. Looks like Reverb mislabeled it. Good catch!

Nice reaction. Welcome to the very rich world of Band-Maid. Personally, I was captivated by the band when I saw the Onset (live) and then Hate? (live) videos. After that, it was a total drag into the world of this great band. And I foolishly avoided trying just because of those maid outfits.🤦 Luckily though, I put the live version of Onset (also instrumental) to play. I think Band-Maid are at their best live.

Great reaction and commentary! Band-Maid is an extremely powerful and versatile hard rock band although they can do tender ballads and acoustic sets as well. They have a large and very enthusiastically dedicated fan base who recognize how incredibly good they are as musicians and as decent humble individuals. Many feel that they are certainly one of the very best bands currently playing music today and deserve to be recognized for their amazingly varied musical composition and songwriting skills. Band-Maid particularly shines in their live performances and many would recommend their official live versions of "Hate?", "Domination" or "Puzzle." Band-Maid has produced such a large number of great songs that there will be many suggestions as to other material people would like you to react to and you really can't go wrong with any of them. Yes, Band-Maid is that good. Cheers!

Love your reaction! One thing to note is that Miku (rhythm guitar and band founder) acts as the anchor in their instrumentals - well actually in all of their songs - allowing the others to do what they do. And she didn't even play any instruments when she formed the band.

Echoing what others have said. Wait to hear them sing. The rhythm guitarist in this video is also the backup singer. She was a Japan idol singing contest winner that formed the band, and when her voice didn't quite match the music in her head, she had the production company find another singer to take the lead. So, with Band Maid, you get two top-notch singers! As to the instrumental you watched, each musician shown is so good that manufacturers have honored them with signature models (most recently, PRS released their Kanami Tōno limited edition electric guitar that immediately sold out despite the high price tag). I always advise people new to this band to check out the 7 part biographical series by Ohrenje. They are each about a half hour long, one for each member with Miku getting three episodes out of the seven. You will come to appreciate all the band members (dedication to their craft, to their fellow band members, and to their fans).

Definitely their LIVE performances are worth a listen and watch. HATE? Live and Play Live comes to mind. After that Puzzle Live. For music videos, definitely, Protect You and Shambles. This band has some awesome hard rock instrumentals. If you're into a more heavy sound "Without Holding Back" is a good one, for a more classic rock sound "onset" is good too. They also have a very talented vocalist who shines on most of their work.
