I love this video so much. I'm 14 - never been a fan of running until last year when I felt uncomfortable with my body. Went on my first 1.75km run, hated it, but kept going. Now I run 14km every Saturday morning, catch a few short runs during the week, and I'm training for Copenhagen half marathon. I want to run the New York marathon when I'm 18. Every Friday night, I watch this video to remind myself why I love running. Thank you, Casey. Your movies and your person inspire me. EDIT: Update July 2020 Hey everyone, I'm really flattered by the attention my comment got! I hope others persist with their running goals! As some have estimated, I'm almost 19. When I initially wrote the comment, I was navigating through issues of my self-image and trying to live healthy without being excessive about it - this struggle continued until I was 17. Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to make it to New York yet (further complicated by corona). I am hoping to study my Masters in North America in a couple of years time, and if that becomes reality my plan is to come to New York in November to run the marathon. If not, I'm still determined to accomplish it before 25. I still run and I love it more than I did at 14, and this video is still as motivating as ever! EDIT: Update August 2023 22 now. Still love this video. Still love running. I train marathons now and I'm going to apply for the 2024 NYC Marathon draw, if I don't get picked, my aim is another Northeastern marathon in the autumn of 2024. Hopefully my next update has good news :) EDIT: Update August 2024 Turned 23 last week. I just signed up for my first marathon - Copenhagen May 2025!

Great story! Me too I started when I was 14, ran for about a year went from 0 to 5 km. Then I stopped for two years. Exactly one year ago I started running again when I was 16. Had to start at the beginning again but within half a year I ran my first half marathon! Now I'm 17 and I'm going to run a marathon within half a year :) Good luck with the training! Greetings from Holland
@scottishfanta8 жыл бұрын
Wow that's fantastic!!! do you have any tips on how to run that far!?!?!?!?!
@aussiemaarten8 жыл бұрын
scottishfanta Okay, this is my way of doing it but I wouldn't recommend it for everyone. I just run and keep going. Every week challenge yourself by doing something new or going further. I ran 5 km and it felt good, next day I thought I'm going to run 10 km and I did it! I was completely sore for the next few days but I had done it. Next time the 10 km was easier and within a few weeks I could run it easily. Sometimes by running a new route you force yourself to run further. If you start to get sore of get tired/thirsty just keep going. Running is more mental than physical I think. Running is a way of clearing my mind and my brain power will just make me forget the pain. I hope this helps you! Good luck :)
@scottishfanta8 жыл бұрын
Maarten van Geene Thanks for replying!!! The furthest I'm able to run without stopping is 3.5km but when I reach that limit I'll be sure to keep your advice in mind and just going!!! Thanks again :D
@aussiemaarten8 жыл бұрын
scottishfanta No problem :) Just remember once you have finished your run and you think you can go on, just go on for a litlle longer. The distance also has to do with your body type, age, weight and stuff like that.

That was very inspirational. Casey, you're the best. Seriously, I mean it. In the past few years, I've turned my life around in a lot of areas. I went back to school, I taught myself how to get work done, and relearned how to learn. You've inspired me to stop being a lazy bones and start running again. I ran a lot in high school, and afterward,m until I blew out my knee. I kinda gave up after that, and in more than just exercise. I dropped out of school, I drank a lot, gained a lot of weight. I'm now 315lbs. But I'm going to do it. I'm going to get back to my best. I'm going to be better. Casey, thanks. Seriously. Thank you.

Just seeing this for the first time. Can’t believe KZbin never promoted this to me for all the running videos I’ve watched. This is inspirational but more importantly shows how addictive running is. Can be so bad. That’s why I keep my addiction to only doing a half every day and only waking at 0330 to get mine. It’s not ruining my life. It is my life. I want more running time. Every time I stop I want more. MORE
