I stopped watching Sam & Colby a few months back after coming across your videos, Mythos’ videos and John Wolfe’s videos about Cody & Satori and watching Sam & Colby go to bat for them. Really opened up my eyes to all of the BS that what I thought was the Paranormal community was on. Now I realize that there are the fake paranormal channels and those who truly strive for the truth. Sam & Colby used to annoy me with their goofy antics because I just wanted to watch their investigations and now I understand that they’re entertainers and not truly interested in providing legitimate evidence.

Then they’ll see which new scam best fits their chicanery and fraud… Will they come back with a more adult look, suitably chastened…wiser…and religious? Maybe they see their “true purpose” now and want only to serve the Lord? One of them will be able to “ heal the sick” by a laying on of hands? Possibly start hawking “get rich quick” products that have a special, superior insight? Their unique experiences in the “field of communication” which will boil down to a run-of-a-mill pyramid scheme, with the guarantee, “This is a MLM business! Nothing like a pyramid scheme because we only want to help you become more successful and secure!” When you break it down, criminals like this are literally human-shaped ticks: get so full they fall off their victims, rub their stuffed bellies, thanks to you, then when they need to feed again, it’s time for a new host. Admonishing them only shows them what went wrong with their scam and to avoid that next time, and the next time, and the next time….because ticks are incapable of feeling remorse or shame. Hey, Beardo - Tee Morris from OSI here. So, big fan! I love your channel, love the content, so much in fact that I still want to show you Gettysburg if you and Mrs Beardo ever come over to the East Coast of the USA. But I have to tell you - this is the greatest bit of content I've ever seen from your channel. 😍 See, when you were posting this, I was busy working on paranormal content. I would argue that, yeah, since our launching of Season Three of Old Spirits, we're actually seeing an uptick in our analytics. Now admittedly, if you are looking at our content, the numbers are kind of everywhere; and there are some bits of content that we "can't count" as they are those "lightning in a bottle" moments. (For example, this week, I posted a response video to @DougDoug when he put his Twitch stream against my book, Twitch for Dummies. The response video been killing it in views, comments, and all that. Not paranormal, but fun AF.) However, our subscriptions are up. Our views (especially for Season Three) are up. OSI made partnership in roughly two years (which, I think, was good!) and we're still keeping our Day Jobs; but I do think our numbers are steadily increasing. I would like to think that part of that reason is we are exploring some places (with the exception of Gettysburg) that many people do not know. We're getting lucky in that places that have *never* been explored are calling on us to do something there. Additionally, OSI produces content in seasons. We usually break after Halloween, do a holiday special in December, and then go dark until March/April (which means new investigations happen between September - February). I think it is important that seasonal content would benefit all KZbinrs so they won't completely burn out on content creation. I also think that OSI didn't just limit our channel to paranormal investigations. We also have short content we call Five Minute Paranormals where we offer advice, do product reviews, and occasionally review other paranormal content. Then we have Phil's podcast Don't Turn Around which was the catalyst for us getting into the paranormal. Finally we got The Grim Gazette which is our weekly weird news and paranormal deep dive magazine (and full disclosure, I featured you in Issue 13's deep dive). I think fakers are leaning more to these Top 10 lists as it's variety content. It feeds the algorithm, and they are (or can be) easier to put together than a full investigation. I think other paranormal teams (yeah, I'm looking at you Amy's Crypt and Paranormal Quest) might turn to content like this because it's easier to produce, and can add a lot of value to your channel *provided you are thoughtful in the content's subject and its production.* I don't believe in content for content's sake. This is why we make sure whatever the content we're producing is relevant to what we do at OSI. And when people *do* discover us, we have a _lot_ to offer them. Yes, I do think the KZbin community and the paranormal community within are demanding more authenticity from their investigators. Pointing at a random direction off-camera and screaming "Duuuuuuuude!" isn't cutting it any more. They want people with a clear head and an open mind to come into a place and see if anything is there, and if there is something there, what exactly is it? And with teams like Amy's Crypt, Paranormal Quest, Haunted Horizons, and many other teams this size or smaller (hi, OSI here...) there is that level of forgiveness if you find nothing. When something does happen though, it's not only impressive, it's surprising and pretty intense. There is change in the air, and I'd love to hear what you're seeing numbers-wise in a month or two, seeing if content is still changing from the fakers and if their analytics are still continuing downward. On the other side of this topic, I'd like to see if numbers for the smaller teams - the ones lacking a few _million_ subscribers - are on the up. And as for us at OSI, we're still going to do what we do because we're having a blast doing it. Thanks again for this video, Beardo. As you see, I have thoughts.

I like watching the real guys becaue,they are funny! They don't scream and run, they don't fake gasp. I was at Miss Molly's hotel in Ft. Worth, Tx. Lying in one of the beds, a fog or mist creeped under the door. I began recording. It rolled across the floor slowly and up the bed. The white mist moved up from my feet to my chest. Circled my head and whispered in my ear... "Hello," then it vaporized. I tried to debunk the experience, yet there was no source for the ghostly fog. I have to say, our paranormal team has been going for over 15 years and NEVER put a video on You Tube. We are not interested. 1. We are there to do a job not entertain others 2. Paranormal Investigating is actually very boring for the most part 3. We are more interested in gaining data from our experimentation and observations. There are MANY serious teams that would never even entertain the thought of putting their investigations on You Tube. It just has no place in paranormal investigation as far as they are concerned. There were teams out there doing the hard graft before You Tube came along and they will still be out there doing it long after the paranormal has left You Tube. You Tube is NOT the home of the paranormal and there is MUCH more going on outside of it compared to inside of it. Don't be fooled into thinking if it disappears from You Tube it disappears altogether. The paranormal is not confined to investigating ghosts and hauntings either. The field is vast and subjects within it are endless.

To be fair, Exploring with Josh used to mostly just explore abandoned locations. He was kind of new to paranormal/haunted investigating and I would guess that he probably tried to shift away from it as he realized everyone he teamed up with to learn things are actually mostly people who fake content. His exploring abandoned places videos are very respectful of the locations and even I was disappointed in some of the people he was learning off of to do paranormal videos. If you watch his demeanor in those videos compared to his exploring videos, you can tell at times his joy is more forced and not as truely happy as his exploring ones.

Another thing. MANY years ago I made a "ghost" photo. I used to be a professional photographer. I took a picture of an old barn, copied an old lady fron the web. Made her semi trasparent, carefully put her behind a handrail on the barn, and actually did a good job in edeting. A bit of grain and so on...I was kind of into the paranormal at the time. This must have been 20 years ago. Then I posted it on a Norwegian paranormal site, just for fun. And I told what I had done, how I had done it and why. People still do not believe that I faked it!! :D The EXIF info even has my name in it. :D

I NOTICED a loong time ago when Caspersight was reviewing their videos left, and right and even went on their PODCAST. Where’s THAT!? This was the same time when Mindseed had the $500 boxes, and they sent him one! (Maybe that lady’s) BUT all of a sudden Caspersight stopped mentioning them, putting them in videos, watching their videos, and he’s GOOD at noticing SOME fakery. Others clueless, but it went dead. THEN Destination Fear dude (forget his name) outed Zak to Nick, which HE KNEW would set off Nik to say GA is Fake AF. Then, Sam and Colby F-ed up BIG TIME. Then ppl were starting to debunk on TikTok the toe popping crap. All of a sudden TFIL, MINDSEED, TWIN, FOURMAN BROTHERS EVEN AND I can be fooled easily so easy on me for that but I believed them, EVERYONE ASSOCIATED WITH THE FAM or Sam and Colby getting in trouble TWICE. When Kristin from the Bellaire House came out and showed them being FAKE AF on her cameras!!! Colby kicking the bear, and then them switching in the camera and saying WOW THIS PLACE IS SOOO HAUNTED. Back to CASPERSIGHT who just freaking did a WEEK. A FULL WEEK. OF UFOS. And he admits right on camera that he’s gaining so many people for UFOs. He got SUPER PISSED AND RELEASED A VIDEO TWO DAYS AGO BITCHING ABOUT HOW HIS UFO VIDEO ON CERN WAS SKYROCKETING AND IT GOT RESTRICTED TO 18+ AND IT TANKED. AND ALL HE DOES IS GHOST REVIEWS!!! NOW HES SWITCHING HIS CONTENT TO UFOS FOR MONEY AND PISSING OFF HIS FIRST COMMUNITY The bedrock of his channel were his GHOST CHANNEL REVIEWS BC THEY WERE FUNNY! A LOT of ppl are dying. From the Pandemic, most of the US population are 65+ so a whole generation is about to die here or ARE dying, FENTANYL over here is crazy. There are wars going on. I'm with you, I'm actually curious to see if your views will be affected either way by changing the title & thumbnail after a few days or whatever. I assumed that those paranormal channels views were most likely declining after the C&S revelation, but if they were already declining a year ago, then i dont know🤷🏼‍♀️ interesting to think about tho!

I definately think people are more aware of fakery now. Channels backing away from the paranormal is the easiest way for them to avoid admiting they're faking. If they were to investigate honestly then people would notice and question them about why nothing was happening. 😂

Yes I've noticed. A lot of these channels are trend chasers and they just go on to different stuff when popularity starts to drop. I see it when trends get over saturated with different channels that are all the same.

Like so many other people in your comment section, I discovered you after the whole Cody and Satori thing. I used to passively enjoy all the fake channels. I'm not a believer, but I find it interesting. That whole thing turned me off to those channels. It's no longer find it even entertaining, because I know they're playing with people beliefs and feelings for views. That all led me down the debunking rabbit whole. Now I can't stand to watch them. Ultimately, it was Cody and Satori that led me away. Now I watch the legit channels and love them. I don't think I'm the only one on this path. I agree it's a really good trend!

I solidly believe it’s because for all these faking channels there is no real genuine interest in what they do. They do it cause it’s on “trend” and the well of interest may be running dry and they are now going to the next “trend”. Genuine teams will continue because as I have said before they genuinely have a passion for it. It’s not a trend it’s what they love. So they will continue.❤️. Which is so good cause they are who deserve the recognition and support.🥰. Hopefully these other channels will slowly ebb off and leave the space open for the honest channels. I believe the presence of a stronger numbered debunking community has made it much harder for the fake channels because they can no longer get away with what they have been for years. They are being brought into question now and people are noticing what they have been playing at all along. Definitely interesting and hopefully brings about much needed change on the platform.❤️

I don't think it's because of debunkers that videos are losing clout/viewership/engagement, I think it's just content fatigue. You can only watch people going 'WOAAAH' with scary music so many times before you roll your eyes. It's the same thing every video, nothing happens.

You know what I'd like to see? I'd like to see a channel do a legitimate long term investigation of a specific location. Just going in for a one night look always struck me as silly - I'd love to see a long term, weeks or maybe months long, daily investigation of a specific place. And it doesn't even have to be ghosts particularly - go someplace with a lot of UFO's and look or go to a spot with a rash of Bigfoot sightings and camp out or whatever.

Many years ago I watched the likes of Most Haunted and wanted to believe it was real, but knew there was no way it really could be. Then I found the various debunking channels and learnt about overlays, masking, how to hide a cut etc, and now, I can't always spot what you do, my set up isn't as good, but at least i'm watching the videos with a more realistic point of view. If a lot of the channels stopped trying to pretend it was real and just went out to put on a good show, then people would still watch them purely as entertainment. No one watches a stage magician thinking they are going to see real magic, but we will watch them to be entertained and we can appreciate the work they put into a show knowing that it is done to fool us.

I've always been undecided on the paranormal, my partner is big into it though and used to enjoy shows like that 'most haunted' garbage so I introduced her to some KZbin channels as I've had some recommended over the years after being a fan of josh and fighters urban exploring content. The Cody and Satori appearance in the conjuring house is what did it for me. Couldn't believe they wanted us to just take it at face value and looked a little deeper, after finding your channel and videos I just cant bring myself to watch them anymore 😂 I think you've definitely left an impression on the community as a whole as originally I couldn't find many other creators brave enough to actually have a crack at these massive channels at the time (of course there are hundreds of videos now). Twin Paranormal are a good example, I think know they have been called out on various things including their behaviour and potential fakery and have reigned it in abit making their content appear stale in comparison to their older stuff but in the long run I think it will do them good and I hope they recover. They do seem like nice lads along that started out with good intentions along with many other channels, I've no ill will and don't want to see anyone's livings destroyed over bitterness in the community. I'm actually glad to see Josh return to more urban exploring as that's the content I love, even in paranormal videos its the history and atmosphere I enjoy most. Just hope fighters goes a similar route to Josh as I don't mind them doing the occasional paranormal for entertainment but prefer urban exploring. Seen some Beardo's content where sometimes literally nothing happens, might not be the most entertaining but I have 0 doubts about any of the authenticity and find myself watching them occasionally as I don't feel like my intelligence is being insulted. Keep doing what your doing, your actions have only benefited the community as a whole in the long run and all this is my personal opinion, I mean no offence to any paranormal fans out there!

What started me down the debunker rabbit hole was Planet Weird (I think that is the name), and them debunking the dybbuk boxes. I know Planet Weird does some borderline fake documentaries but they edit those vids so well and are entertaining to me, and then I started watching Beardo

For the start about the 'flight from fake paranormal ' i have discovered numerous urban exploring channels went paranormal nightmare and grew to 100k-200k+ , and its obvious, that abandoned places has history, and some has dark history, some of those places MAY have potential For doing both investigating and also experiments 😊
