I've laced some elasticated cord between the straps on the back of my Mindshift Backlight 26L, really handy for retaining clothing, especially wet jackets. No faults in 4 years carrying (up to) 2 bodies, 300 f4, 75-150 f2.8, 12-40 f2.8, 60 macro, teleconverters, filters, batteries, binoculars, tripod, snack, drink, lightweight waterproof.

I've the 26l really pleased with it, but do try to cram too much into it. Having watched this, i need to do a sort out of what I've got in it.

Easy to do, but often I don’t use what I bring so it’s good to be strict sometimes 😅

The Backlight bags are fantastic! I bought the 18L (on your recommendation) and also have the 36L now too.

I bought the 18L a few years ago after seeing your review, and used it recently for my trip to the Galapagos and Ecuador's cloud forest. It was perfectly sized for the OM1, EM1.2, 1.4TC, 8~25, 12~100 and 100~400 lenses, and fit under the airline seat. It was subjected to quite a bit of abuse, and I was very impressed with its durability. The ability to swap out lenses and cameras without the need to set down the bag was also invaluable as the ground was usually muddy and I needed to keep up with the tour group.

I can cram my OM-1 with 150-600 attached, my E-M10 with 100-400 attached and a 12-100 in the back of my backlight 18 and put my E-PL10 with 14-42 in the front, plus accessories - all bases covered :)

Those mindshift bags look really good. I mainly use lowepro and crumpler as they are easier to grt in Australia One thing I wish all bag/pack inserts would have are better padded inserts with two strips of velcro at each end that formed a "Tee" so you had a join that does not peal off as quickly. When I see these really full packs with the typical thin dividers, if the bag gets put down a little harder or shuffled in the back of the car you can hear the gear clunk together. Foe the price we pay for premium packs better dividers should be provided, at least that is what I would like. I cant even imagine pack hauling in a really filled pack as they provided as stock. I tend to put extra dividers in side by side for better protection, plus an extra layer in the bottom for hard put downs.

Yeah, I’ve found thin dividers to be an issue with other bags. With the backlight you get 2 long thick ones that really holds the structure of it together.

Interesting video - thanks. I bought a Mindshift Backlight 26L ages ago but didn't use it that much because it had more room for camera gear than I usually carried and a bit less room for other stuff than I'd ideally want, including a laptop room that's too small for my 16". After getting the Olympus 150-400 Pro it's become my favorite when carrying that lens. Also noticed that the tripod collar needs to be adjusted to an angle, and the same goes for the screw on the sun shade. I've been considering the 45L to get more room for hiking gear, but thought it was too big for carry on. Might have to reconsider. Ideally though I'd like to have my bag under the seat in front when on an airplane. The 45 is obviously too big for that, but have you used the 26L on airplane and managed to get it under the seat in front of you?

I haven’t tried that, I usually put the 26L overhead and a smaller bag under the seat.

I know I asked you this before, where did you get the wooden handle on your 150-400. I think it would be great on my 300 f4. Great Video thanks.
