I think the elastic neck strap can be useful if you need to change lens around.

I really liked the 26l, but I needed room for both my dslr and mirrorless bodies. Bought the 36l. A family member will use the 26l for her gear. Amazing straps and back padding. A full pack does not feel heavy

what is the weight of the item. Is it really 4 pounds ? That would be extremely heavy

Hey Dan, very nice review! I already own various Mindshift backpacks (they gave them to me to support my work) like Rotation 180° PRO and Firstlight 30L that actually are the largest I could think as a "no worries" carry-on luggage in most of airplane companies (while on ATR-42 planes I felt safer with Think Tank's Streetwalker HD). I normally travel with various macro gear and the longest lens is a 300mm F/4 VR Nikon, but I sometimes have with me the Nikon 200-400mm. I would like to get the Backlight 36l, but I'm afraid it could really be too bulky for some airline companies. What do you think about that? Is it better to get the 26l maybe? Most of my "non-lens" gear that normally stays into the Firstlight 30 could easily fit into the outer pouch instead of the lens compartment, so I could be just fine with the 26l perhaps. What's your advice? Do you have a open-backpaks comparison between the 36l, the 26l and firstlight 30l? Thanks for any advice! Ema

It is interesting how rigid is the bag when fliping in front to use the backlit function, especially with a tripod on the side... ?

I use that little zipped pocket on the very top for my cable release. I always know where it's at in my 26L Backlight
