Gara embroidery came into our design lexicon at a time when the Parsis from India would travel to China for trade and bring back a new kind of artistic embroidery, which was very realistic in its depiction of flora and fauna. When the Parsi women in Mumbai started getting rich, they wanted an exclusive style, and thus adopted the Gara embroidered sarees. and gradually affected the cultures of China and Iran.

Embroidery has always been an essential part of the Zoroastrian lifestyle. The reverence for nature is interwoven and embroidered into their costumes of daily life. The Gara sarees come in a variety of lovely pastel hues and are exquisitely decorated with fine craftsmanship and precision.

During opium trade days parsi community used to take silk sarees to China and get the embroidery done on them by the local embroiderers and then gift it to their ladies.
