Thanks for the video Pete, loved the epilogue section, its the first time hydration and calorie intake have been explained in a simple way that really sunk in. I have a council sports centre 200 yards from where I live, you have motivated me to go across and join. To be honest I have lived here for 25 years and have joined and lost motivation loads of times over that period, as you say motivation is key. Thanks again Pete, all the best Dean. East Yorkshire.

Great great vid, i was there recently did a vid, i think people in general underestimate beacons, the terrain, weather and remoteness of the place make it quite a dangerous place especially if you are off the trails. I have a lot of first aid for twisted ankles in my bag as its can happen at any time, cold and heat treatments, compression bandages and support bandages etc helps me a lot if i am on my own. I think the thing is found most surprising out there was the wind, the backpack acted like a sail and nearly took me off a ridge a few times getting up to 70mph. Was a real surprise for me. Love the wildness of the place :) Again great vid as always for of useful and unique information :)

Me & the goat got caught in a twister (you may have seen the epilogue at end of vid of previous visit 2013) on way back up track to Fan last time. Started suffering cramp in my back and ribs later in the evenings when trying to settle in my bag for the night. You should try adhering a puff ball made of wool or cotton, like puff balls found found in a sewing store, over the cameras microphone to try and cut down on wind noise when outdoors. not sure how well it will work but it's something you can try and experiment with. Cheers, Tom.

Rochelle Lee still looking? alive has summarised the situation. I have assessed diabetics for exercise but only with certain medical criteria applied i.e. medical records/references of such individual & applying knowledge that an exercise professional needs/has to know regarding many medical conditions. Any medical condition a PT professional has to consider a pro forma form questionnaire is always applied & as much medical history can be assessed with doctors references. Also each client needs to be seen to be taking personal responsibility as to their condition what ever it is. You also need a GP/medical advisor who understands about exercise (a lot don't) so they can give you the relevant info regarding carb intake for effective results within exercise whilst considering the diabetic condition. You would already know about intake slow release carbs helping to keep diabetic condition in check (just one example) I'm not a doctor but my experience/qualifications have had to encompass many medical conditions coz that's the nature of the job, just like a doc or GP would send a patient to a PT to get healthy fit. As I said in the epilogue one needs to get 1 to 1 especially if there's a medic condition to consider, it can't be done over the internet hence why my vids are going to be basic lay mans terms so people can take self responsibility with a little info to get them on track. Hope you can get on track soon :)

Hi I was enquiringly about your overall knowledge. Military have extensive knowledge of both survival, fitness and nutrition. This is why I asked about your back ground. I am just interested to learn where you obtained you foundation for what I think is your great understanding of camping , survival etc.
@MINDWISEMAN8 жыл бұрын
+Gary Nicholls Your enquiry taken in good stead Gary. Over 20 years qualified PT with other pre requisites needed for performance related activity which includes anything athletic to physical endurance e.g trek/hike & fuelling the body. Have worked with military personnel also, not served (all be it worked for the MOD). All this type of knowledge as you say is beneficial to the outdoors pursuits I do plus share it in this vid, but the information has to be "best practice" meaning there's so many things to consider with peoples physical condition & personal health so only the basic details should be shared because it's unprofessional/irresponsible to make details too involved. Hope that last sentence makes sense. Cheers.

@MINDWISEMAN7 жыл бұрын
You'd need to check it out with medical advisors/s e.g. GP. No medical advise given here as subjects like this in my book need to be approached individual 1 to 1, not good practice giving "advice" on social media, only "guidance", there's a difference between the two regarding the health/fitness industry. The info' in my vids are general guidance based on scientific facts, if a person has a medical condition to consider then they need to approach things personally. Thanks viewing & the enquiry.

Ben Jnr I explained in different parts of the vid the whys/when/wherefores of taking the food. 1/ snack on trail, 2/ pasta once set up & brew, 3/ late beef dinner/rice pudding brew & bics, 4/ tinned fish & bread wraps brew. 90% consumed with the rest finished off down from Fan Fawr. Like I said in epilogue (I explained quite a lot about body fuelling & the reasons behind it) - I've fast metab' I know what I want to eat from experience & where I go/what I do. If people want to eat like sparrows when they've burnt off a shed load of calories or simply choose not to eat much then that's fine by me :-)Thanks for watching.

Can I just ask why you bother with a kettle, and not just use a pan, at least with a pan it packs up better, and you can still boil in no time at all. Really enjoyed the video.
@MINDWISEMAN7 жыл бұрын
As stated at 3.30 in the video. Was only boiling water - easier/quicker in easy carry lidded kettle instead of faffing around with less practical at boiling water - mess tin/pan

Cool, no worries. Just wondered, I'm fairly new to wild camping.
@MINDWISEMAN7 жыл бұрын
Video responses etc all in good faith. You'll get your basic ideas/kit to apply to each pursuit then from experience apply what works best for you i.e. tent/tarp/backpack fod etc etc. One example of mine - I've acquired bits of cook kit that have eventually fitted together albeit they were separate items e.g. kettle featured in this vid fits into 1.2 ltr saucepan which then fits into a small fry pan which all fits in zip pouch that came with kettle. Sometimes it's much more practical depending on what/where you're going/doing to have separate boiling water device with cook pan so each thing can be done without every time cleaning out cook pan. Oh yeh plus you can eat out of cook pan whilst boiling up a brew.

We're off up to the Brecons on the 12th November. The only area that I am not sure on is with clothing, especially at night. Certainly, decant tinned food then palaver of re containing the stuff in a burstable bag or plastic box saving minimal weight of 3 - 4 oz. Nought wrong with kneeling mat when sitting/kneeling on unpredictable ground un pitched non sheltered. If space/less weight was needed a different approach would be applied.
