Great landings, especially holding the nose off after landing at Falcon (not so easy as 182s are notoriously nose heavy on landing), and good landing at the grass strip especially given the obstacles (love to hear that stall horn when landing at a short field, means the plane is thru flying). The only other “suggestion” I would have is around the phrase “full power out” during landing which might be a little confusing for low time pilots who are used to hearing the words “full power” associated with takeoffs, go arounds, etc. I like “power to idle”, but again this may be personal preference. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us! 👏🏽👏🏽👍🏽👍🏽

Good training video especially for CFI how to guide student through the flight profile. My landing technique for short runways with high obstacles is derived from my gliding experience. Final approach with second flap position and full flap position after passing the trees, nose down and power to idle and on some types apply Power for the flare to give the elevator better authority

excellent video...only thing is the climbing out part, I heard you mention about a cruise climb after clearing the trees. In the rare event that there is going to be problems with the engine, its most likely going to be in the climb, we want altitude as fast as possible to at least 1000 feet, and I know of two people who are alive today because of that. You two are a beautiful couple and have the nicest airplane. Maybe will see you and the airplane at Osh. 🙂
@Schmiiindy2 жыл бұрын
Ha yea it’s not exactly a cruise climb but at full power really over works our engine…our operating manual calls for it this way in hopes to prevent exactly what you’re talking about. Thank you!!

Flew skydivers in an identical make/model for 10 years, carb ice is a big deal with that O-470 config. We saw quite a bit, at all ambient temp ranges. Copious use of carb heat advised in the pattern. Two other pilots with our club, lost engine on final with carb ice.

Thanks for the heads up! We’ve heard the same and also faced similar issues with our last plane…will be using lots of carb heat!
