Beautiful cards. Gelli plates are so addicting. You can get so lost experimenting with it. Just like the lays potato chip ad that says... "I bet you just can't eat one"... Instead it's " I bet you just can't make one.". They are so much fun and get your creativity juices flowing. Highly recommend one if you are in a creative slump.

@@MindyEggenDesign I tried my hand at making backgrounds on my gel press but didn't have great results. Mine turned out splotchy and streaky. Even using different inks and card stock I get more or less the same results. If you have any idea what might help I'd sure appreciate the advice. Perhaps my braying technique isn't correct.

Hi Mindy, you mentioned to hit the Subscribe button and the bell for notifications. I've been subscribed for a long time, and have "all notifications" selected, but I hate to be the bearer of bad news - KZbin no longer notifies us when you post a video!!! They stopped all notifications last August 13th because they said they got complaints about how many notifications were sent out. Hmph......what about those of us who ASKED to be notified??? I see you have a Blog, so I'm going to your blog and sign up for notifications on your Blog. Maybe then I will see when you post a video and I won't miss anymore of them! Thanks for sharing this technique. I can't believe how many backgrounds you get from a gel plate!!

I haven't tried pigment ink yet but give it a shot! I think part of the fun is just experimenting with what we have . Enjoy! :-)

I took an online class where one of the instructors used Distress Oxide inks on a gel press. Worked great! Not sure if the original Distress inks would work, since they tend to bead up on slicker surfaces (e.g. photopolymer stamps), but I would think pigment inks would work just fine, since the Oxides do have a pigment property. Hope this helps! :)

@@andrealavigne7824 Thank you. I tried it today and wasn't thrilled with the results. The colours didn't blend well. Perhaps my pigment inks are too old or too dry. Also the yellow pigment ink I used stained my gel plate so it now has a yellow tinge to it. :(

I tried using inks I have on hand. Some of them leave splotches/string marks on gel pad even after using the brayer. Do Hero Arts ink do the same thing?
