Actually they didn't. ASFJerome stands for Awesome Sauce Films Jerome. ASF is a group that jerome, mat and mitch all started together. They already got viewers and subs from that (it was c.o.d channel) And then they migrated to minecraft. They only really started playing with sky when they had lots of subs
