*update:* if your hopper cart is picking up 64 items, try making the repeater at 9:13 1 tick instead of 2 :) Do you prefer item categorizers or multi item sorters 🤔Multi item sorters have higher sorting density but also much more expensive and kinda tedious to deal with. Lemme know your thoughts :D Subscribe and share for more bedrock tutorials! :D BTW: if you only put 1 item into the input chest, sometimes the cart will take it before the system can read it. put another item in and it'll fix it tho,. or just put a minimum of 2 items in:)

Anything that doesn't require pre-filling every slot in the receiving chests since that defeats the purpose of having something to group and store items easily really. I realize QC and a couple other Java mechanics give an advantage to these systems, but I definitely figured it was possible to make proper multi-item storage systems on Bedrock as well with some reconfiguration. Before this one, MaddHatter had the only such system so glad to see more options coming out. Thanks for explaining the mechanics as well. Also, did they fix the original Impulse Filter on Bedrock or was that just for demonstration purposes?

Possibly, one of SW's *most useful builds* Unfortunately, one of the most time-consuming and frustrating when something goes wrong. It literally eats its own intestines. *TOP TIPS* A➧ Use 10-15 slices → 6 is NOT enough: even if not building them initially, leave enough space B➧ Minecart too fast? → if using more than 6 slices, send the cart on a 10-20 block detor, a U-bend after it drops down. C➧ Too Fragile or Laggy? → build it in the side of a cliff, keep it safe and not visible when outside. Run hoppers from a drop-box on the outside of the cliff into the loader. D➧ Be Gentle! → when testing a new setup, use a single type of item, ensure the repeater by trench triggers and the unloaded items flash the correct comparator on the roof. Only then risk spamming the input. Keep an eye on overflow, and abort if errors are noticed. E➧ Rename Fillers → ensure the flesh (or whatever) in category chests 11:02 is renamed and none get fed into the system. Give the minecart fillers a different name (0-42-1-1-1). F➧ Too many overflow items? → rotate overflow chest 90 degrees and run hoppers into a stack of chests. Maybe even feed a single-item sorter for each. G➧ Minecart never moves? → check you left a hole under the piston on left of cart 10:05 H➧ Minecart takes all 64 items? → make the repeater at 9:13 into 1 tick I➧ Minecart not moving when 1 item added to chest? → it occasionally happens, add a button on the block behind the cart J➧ One slice does not work? → ensure there is only ONE of each item in category chest K➧ One item does not work? → ensure it is not duplicated in another slice L➧ Machine ate all category chests? → detect overflow before it digests your whole setup, add an observer to the overflow chest feeding redstone lamp with a couple of note blocks, at least you can stop things fast! M➧ Need easier access to setup? → Build a curved staircase in front of the first chest, going directly to the right of the minecart to join with the existing trench.

Great video! I just finished making it on our server, and it works wonderfully! I had only one problem: I made this with 50 slices. Everything works fine, but the minecart returns before the system could finish sorting the items, resulting in the minecart not being able to pick up the specific item in the category chest. As a result, the item ends up in the output chest. My solution for this is to stop the minecart for a few seconds to allow the system enough time to finish sorting before the minecart returns and brings more items to the sorter. I tried hooking up a hopper clock to the powered rail on the minecart's drop-off point. The logic is that the minecart lands on the unpowered rail, and after the timer is done, it will power the rail to send off the minecart. However, I don't know how to do this in a compact way, and I can't seem to make it work.

Hey silent! Great system. I'm Implementing it on my multiplayer server. I've been testing it with the 16 item stackables. I don't think it works with those at all because the double chest at the beginning will take all 16 and then there won't be any room left to drop the item from the filter chest into the minecart. Once the minecart reaches the top, it sends the items in the minecart directly to the overflow chest. Not sure if you addressed this in another comment, if not, much help would be appreciated. As for now, I'm just going to send them via the overflow chest to a section of unsorted items with 16 stackables and unstackables. TIA!

I was having trouble with not all of the items being sorted and it was specifically slices that had more than 1 item that can only stack in groups of 16, like signs or eggs. The solution I did was I continued to take out 3 of the filler items in that slice per 16 stack item. So let's say I had a slice with all of the mangrove items which would include signs and hanging signs. I would take 3 named filler items from the last stack then 3 additional filler items. The space left in the chest did not seem to cause any issues and I have a 24 slice wide categorizer.

I like to think I have a clue with redstone. That being said, the locking repeater stays on after putting the first item in the categorizer chest. (1 item gives a signal strength of 1, which powers the repeater)
@JoyfulEngineer2024 Жыл бұрын
So… I’m leaving my comment here in the hope that it helps someone. While *if* you test this arrangement with one slice wide, the repeater will be activated with only one item, as soon as you add a second slice, the side-by-side redstone dust on the back no longer points to or powers the block leading to the repeater. Thus, the dust on top of that block is required to power it & thus the signal strength required is 2 vs. 1. I withdraw my critique/question.

@@silentwisperer Do you know when the next categorizer system is coming?
@skycraft92782 ай бұрын
Just a quick note. This system will NOT sort 16 stackable items. It also will NOT sort unstackable items. I’ve tested this in v1.21.31 bedrock and here’s what happened. So you set up your chests with whatever you want sorted, 3 shovels, 5 items renamed. Hopper cart has 45 items renamed. You got a bunch of 64 stack items in the categorizer chest and maybe an ender pearl in there like he showed in the video. Doesn’t matter if it has 2 or 5 items in the bottom right it will NOT work with it because the hopper cart takes a full stack of pearls and there’s no room for it to pull the one from the categorizer chest. Thats why it wont work with it. Now there is a work around. Well 2 really. First option is only put at most 15 of the 16 stack items in the drop off at a time and it will work with them now. But if you don’t want it to be a pain to have to manually load it then you should build a filter to remove the 16 stack items before it gets to this part of your build. Also wouldn’t hurt to build a non stackable item filter before items end up in this or you’ll have items going into the overflow. Depends on how sophisticated you want your sorting to be lol. But silent has tutorials for both on his channel. I’ve tested them as well with no issues on bedrock edition. Now to address the issues with the cart pulling all 64 items. This happens because of a timing issue usually on heavier played worlds/realms. So when your watching tutorials always keep in the back of your mind that it happens so you might need to play with the delays of repeaters to get things working as they should. What should happen is the cart should leave just as it gets the 63rd item. If it’s taking 64 it stayed there longer than it should’ve. So the delay from the repeater behind the chest beside the comparator on 2 ticks of delay might need 1 tick instead of 2 or just a piece of redstone if it is still picking up 64. Another issue that I have seen a lot of is the repeater doesn’t turn off to filter items. This happens when you do not have a correct signal strength in the chest. Usually caused by multiple items in the slots your trying to sort or an incorrect signal strength with the named items in the chest or not enough shovels in there. The correct amount is 5 named items and 3 shovels in the bottom right corner. If you have 2 as mentioned for the 16 stackable items you’ll end up having multiple items somewhere in there eventually thus breaking the machine. I hope some of any of this helps some of you. Also Silent your a beast man. Keep up the cool builds 👍

Damn, I did something similar but built a stack separator at the front & immediately sent the single item off to get the category it belonged to so that by the time I had the rest of the stack or the hopper stopped pushing it could be sent off to the relevant themed room. Took a signal off of the category to flip rail lines so the cart would be sent off to be emptied & another would start filling before it was back. …people really don’t use rails enough in this game…seems more alive than just having hopper lines running all over your storage room for each category. All rail line junctions are simply set off of two comparator gates that it gets from the encoded output of the sorting system. Which is just sending two timed pulses down a single line to get converted to signal strengths. So just one rail line & a redstone line is all that’s needed to expand.

It also definitely works with multiple 16-stackable items in the filter chest, you just need to replace one of the non-stackable filter items with a stack of the stackable named filter items, then reduce the size of the stack until the repeater turns off when one item is removed from the chest. Just one question - when the bottom chest in the slice fills up, the hopper behind it fills up before adding items into the next chest in the slice, meaning that a lot of items are potentially hidden in storage. It's moderately easy to fix, if the chest is full then removing items will cause the hopper to push its contents into the chest, then you can manually put the extras into the next chest up. But is there a way to do this automatically?

How did you handle 16 stackables in the input chest? My issue is I put 16 signs in, and the hopper minecart will pick up all 16 (since it's less than the time limit for 63) Then it won't pull the sign out of the filter chest, and all 16 stackables go straight to the overflow chest
@TroyLaurin8 ай бұрын
@@davidwestwood1459 yeah, the 16 stackables are annoying. The only real way to handle them is to never put a full stack in the input chest :/

Okay I’m so frustrated I’ve been in these comments for an hour, watched the video dozens of times. No matter how many items are in the sorter chest, it takes them and the stack and puts it in the overflow chest. No matter how many items I remove from the chest, the repeater never turns off. I have no duplicates, all stackable items, timers are right….

Great video but I wished you showed us how to lower the timing for the right repeater, so the Minecart doesn't grab a full stack because of realm/server lag.

Bit of a necro, but for those having issues with this build, I have a couple tips that helped me fix it. 1. MAKE SURE the filler items used in the Minecart with Hopper are NOT THE SAME as the fillers used in the category boxes. You can just use different names if you like, but make sure not to mix them up. The minecart will fill that stack of 45 with random fillers from your category boxes and break it 2. I know he mentioned balancing it for 16-stack items. But until you have a working system, DONT MESS WITH THIS. Do NOT use 16-stack items, nor single stack items. Literally only use items that stack to 64. No armor, weapons, eggs, buckets, ender pearls, honey bottles, signs, hanging signs, or any others I missed. Also saddles, horse armor, etc (things that don't stack at all). Important Note: He briefly mentions it in the video, but it's pretty much the most important part of the whole build. If you remove an item from your category box, that slices' repeater should turn off. If that isn't happening, then you have at least 1 item in that box that stacks to 16 or is single stack. If you check all this and your cart is still pulling things it shouldn't be, that means you have a duplicate item in two or more category boxes. Hope this helps. Once I addressed those things, It works like magic

Anyone know why is it that when item going to the chest, instead of looking for a place in the top chest, it looks for a place in the bottom chest, and if there is no place, the items accumulate in the hooper?

Hey, I tried building it but on 3 sides of a room, but it only works on the side where the minecart is deload. The 2 other side only filter 1 block and the rest go in the overflow chest. Is there any reason why it does not work?
@LlenniLlenni Жыл бұрын
Looked for a system like this for so long! I am having the same problem some others are. If you put in more than one stack of an item, the first one goes into the correct place, the second into overflow. I have 30 something slices. Seem to have solved it by slowing down the rail at the back enough that that all items have gone where they're meant to by the time the cart is back and unloading more. Obviously slows everything down, but at least it works!
@YamIdoingThis Жыл бұрын
I'm having the same issue, even with just 6 slices and it seems to only want to fill the bottom chest, but if there is even a single item of the same type, it goes right to overflow.
@YamIdoingThis Жыл бұрын
Found my problem, it was with the timing system, the hopper was grabbing a full stack of 64 items, so it didn't have room for the filter box item to be removed. Went over the whole build and found one repeater was off by 1 tick and that was all I needed, timing is super critical to this build. Works fantastic now.

I have the worst timing. I was looking at a different tutorial for an Item categorizer as an addition on our Realm's main storage system. It needed more space than I had available so I went with building 3 of your Multi-Item sorter systems, making a room of storage. This would have fit well and saved on materials..and saved my sanity a bit. Next storage system this is going in.

Isn’t working for me. Please help. Cart takes 64 items and doesn’t start. I already changed the ticks for first repeater to 1 after your suggestion to another commenter. Also if after placing less than 63 items in first position it sorts and comes back for second one it stops, even if next stack has 63 items or less. I’ve made other of your farms successfully.

i made this design and ive checked it over several times but i cant find any mistakes. but when i use the system, it occasionally doesnt put an item back into the catagorizer, and then it sends everything of that item into the overflow chest. i have no idea if its because its on a realm or whatever. it works great as a temporary solution to my storage, as i just need to go fix the filter every so often, as long as it isnt just self detonating. . i dont know whats wrong with it though. Edit: i looked into it more, turns out if the chunks happen to de-render is kinda busts the system, otherwise its been working fine.

So it wouldn't actually work if it's in multiple chunks?

@YamIdoingThis Жыл бұрын
Triple check all your repeaters are at the right tick. The hopper should be grabbing 63 of a single item when it collects it, if it's grabbing a full stack, it has nowhere to put the filter item to activate the correct hopper and will send it all to the overflow instead. If that doesn't work, try to play around with the timing, maybe have it send the cart a bit sooner at the cost of sorting speed, maybe it'll grab most of a stack and come back to grab the rest. Also make sure you don't accidentally have something in any boxes that can only stack to 16.

@johnpfeilsticker58703 ай бұрын
Been working on this. I logged out once while it was running, and ever since this thing picks up full stacks. I adjusted the 2-tick repeater at 9:12 down to 1-tick, and now the cart doesn't pick up full stacks on its first run, but still does on the second. Seems like the redstone in the "brain" here needs some tweaks. What's interesting to me is that my sorter only started doing this after I logged out while sorting. Now it'll happily sort any load less than a full stack, and it'll sort the first full stack in a fresh dump, but the second always gets sent to overflow. If you or anyone has found a better way to wire this thing, I'm hoping to not have to tear it all down. I like the design and I'm starting to understand the details of how it works, but the timing circuit is just not quite right. There's gotta be a way...
@coltondonahue3 Жыл бұрын
Love this sorter, but when i leave the area it takes a full stack of items and puts it in the over flow chest and doesn't get sorted from there. is there a fix for this or do i just need to stay in the area for the time being?

Read through some of the comments but didn't this issue brought up. If I dump a bunch of a single block in (like Netherack after I come back from the Nether), it will dump it will correctly sort the first stack, but then dump the rest in the overflow chest. Any way to fix that? Built it on Realms.
